Obama Signs SCHIP (http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/02/obama-signs-sch.html)
The President was there to sign the State Children's Health Insurance Program, or SCHIP, which his White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel helped create a decade ago, and which President Bush vetoed last year.
The President took the time to say that his stimulus package currently being debated in the Senate would also serve the cause of health care.
Sitting down to sign the bill with myriad writing implements so different bill sponsors could get one -- "I've been practicing writing with eight pens," the president said, "running out of signature," he added to laughter -- President Obama signed SCHIP into law.
"There you go," he said.

Well, regrettably with cigarettes going up 61 cents a package with new taxes, and because it's 0bama's program, I'm going to choose to not finance it.

Either quit smoking and help not finance the old government or buy them from the Muslim cigarette smugglers and help finance the new government.
What's a fellow with a bad habit to do?

It's time to start buying cigarettes in Missouri , the decrease in the state tax will offset the federal tax.

IIRC you can get them on Indian Reservations and there is no Federal tax.

Wanna bet that they'll try and change that soon? As fas I know, Illinois doesn't have any reservations.

Like gasoline, they (gummint) will collect it at the manufactures or distributors level and leave them to recover the cost (tax) as best they can....price increase.

There's not that many smokers in liberal cities anymore, Frank, where a pack of Marlboros are around 5 or 6 bucks a pack. Believe me, they're not going to be able to find many smokers to subsidize the SHIT bill (Socialist Health Insurance Travesty), they are going to go after us to fund it. (I still smoke, but plan on quitting next week when I have two days off in a row)

Just like a stupid liberal! Fix the price so the people you were planning on footing the bill for your pet project quit buying it. Frikkin' brilliant!
How will they finance it after they are unable to collect the funds from the product they taxed?
I'll tell ya how! They'll just find something else to tax! That's the reason Bush vetoed the POS. Neverending cycle with thes asshats!

So true. When Ohio recently passed an additional 75 cent tax on cigarettes, many people quit. Now the state is complaining about the loss of funds.
Unintended Consequences can be a real bitch!
