I suspect most readers' first reaction to this will be, "There's no way George W. Bush would ever have gotten this level of sympathy from an Associated Press writer."
You see, poor Barack Obama was having a hard time and getting stressed out after his first two weeks on the job. So he "escaped" with his wife to a Washington, DC public school.
The Associated Press's ever-sympathetic (or, I should say, absolutely pathetic) Ben Feller broke out the Kleenex:
On a tough day, Obama escapes for a while
On the rockiest day of his young administration, President Barack Obama did what surely made him happy for a while.
He left.
With little notice, the president and first lady Michelle Obama bolted the gated compound of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in their tank of a limousine on Tuesday. They ended up at a Washington public school, greeted by children who could not care less about the collapse of a Cabinet secretary nomination.
"We were just tired of being in the White House," the president candidly told the gleeful second-graders at Capital City Public Charter School. ...

Poor Uncle Zero. :lmao:
-
Obama seems to lack the character necessary to persevere in the job. Go figure.

This is only after a couple of weeks, it'll be a long 4 years.

Yes. But the good news is that he may become too fatigued or too stressed out to accomplish much. (He never seems to have had much of a work ethic.) I don't count on that, but it could happen. Bad for him, good for us.
-
There he goes again, tackling the tough issues of the day . . . to a group of seven year olds. ::)
"We were just tired of being in the White House," the president candidly told the gleeful second-graders at Capital City Public Charter School
I'n already tired of them being in the White House as well.

Yet they have the gall for 7 years to criticize and poke fun at President Bush`s reaction in the classroom when he was informed of the 9/11 attacks on the WTC. :censored:

The hell? He needs a mental break after some f'ed up nominations? What the hell's he gonna do when we're attacked? This is it? This is all the mettle this fool has?

That SNL skit of him sobbing helplessly on the phone in the middle of the night may be closer to the truth then anyone realized.

When I read the AP story today, I thought, "You arrogant do-nothing. You still do not understand what you've become. The buck does stop with you, but you've no idea, do you? By the way, I'd bet some of our soldiers would love to trade places with you."

So the guy's been wanting to get into the White House for at least since 2006 (maybe even longer), and now after 2 weeks he's got a nervous breakdown? Haven't had a nicotine fix since inaugurated perhaps?
Look, ya big eared jerk.... Bush went through 7 YEARS with the leftists on him night and day, relentlessly trashing him and his policies, lying their asses off, printing false stories (i.e. Rathergate, Newsweek's "Koran Flush", etc)....
He's had the media kiss his half black ass so much, he'd have to use a pair of pliers to get them off. He should consider himself lucky. If Gonzales, Ashcroft, Rice, etc. any of Bush's appointments were guilty of what Obama's cabinet is doing... he'd be crucified (like he wasn't for those appointments already)

I'm sorry, he is the friggin president - there is NO escape from that. There shouldn't be. EVERYONE before him has known that this is a 24/7 job. Okay, well, everyone who had half a brain....but I digress.
Seriously, He "escapes" Why? Because the big mean public doesn't like his pork bill? Because his ratings are slipping and everyone he is picking in his cabinet has more skeletons than a haunted house? PUH LEASE...he had to escape? ESCAPE?
What a great pick we made there people - the man couldn't handle 2 full weeks on the job before he had to escape.
...we...are...screwed...
-
I wonder how long it'll be before he decides to run for a new office somewhere... sometime around June/July I think, that's about 140 days

He certainly inspires confidence and security, doesn't he? NOT.
He landed the biggest political fish in America and apparently has neither clue about how to carve it up, much less eat it.

Well, you know how it is, you're just more comfortable around your mental equals.

BWA!
You made me laugh out loud in the office on that one. Yeah...I'm the boss hard at work here. :-) Seriously, H5 for making me laugh.

My thought exactly. I wonder how it would have been perceived had Bush "escaped" for an afternoon after 9/11.
Of course he was being criticized for being protected as is protocol when there is an attack on our soil. Nothing gets me more upset than hypocrisy which is why I can't stand the liberal left mentality.

I was kinda wonderin' about that the other day. What a great thing to spin!
[the following spoken in a Walter Cronkite baritone..]
"President Obama's recent difficulties are attributed to his heroic struggles against the evils of tobacco. Using every known strategy available, and often times rising above the fray, President Obama has held firm to his campaign promise of Leaving Tobacco Behind (LETOB).
"As a result of these herculean efforts, LETOB has proved itself to be more than worthy as the next worthwhile government program.
"President Obama will name a LETOB Czar within two weeks, an administration source has informed this reporter.
"Senior administration officials are working night and day with Democrat lawmakers in crafting legislation that will create a cabinet-level post for the LETOB Czar, a corresponding budget, and sufficient resources to stamp out the evil of tobacco.
And that's the way it was, Thursday, February 5, 2009."

So if this nation is attacked and hundreds of thousands injured or dead, what will you do then? Escape to Kenya and chuck spears with your brothers to ease the pain of your White House responsibilities?
What a fracking *****. Of course being a Marxist Democrat he does not have the balls to stand up to anyone.
-
0bama's escape was the closest thing to hiding in a corner , wrapped in his blankee and sucking his thumb that he could manage with the whole world watching him.
