Title: Half day at work
Post by: ReardenSteel on February 03, 2009, 03:05:11 PM
A client cancellation led to a half day today. I'd say "yee-haa" but I'm at a loss as to what to do with myself now. The laundry is caught up, the place is... well, clean enough. It's snowing and cold in Cincy but tolerable. I have no dishes to wash and plenty of superbowl leftovers to reheat come dinner time. Sigh.

I guess I could start drinking.

 :evillaugh:

What are you up too CC?

I've been messing with a friend's PC most of the day. He got several viruse. I got rid of them, but he had some problems with XP Home. I threw XP Pro on it. It's running quite well, at this point. I need to recover/ reinstall some other programs and it's done.

Grocery shopping, and visited a friend at work that I haven't seen in a while.  I organized my toolbox and bought a compression tester.  I love new toys. :hyper:

Just took a nice hot bath with some lavender bath salts. I needed to de-stress, and that usually does the trick... :)

Time for dinner and a homework assignment now.  :(

Basking in the glow of a successful implementation.  There are problems, but they are on the "other side."

I have convinced them I am a genius.  I'm not but I convinced them ;)

Truth in advertising.

But, riddle me this...

If you are not a genius but you convince people you are a genius, does that make you a genius?

It at least makes you ingenious.

I have a similar situation at work.  The very-busy IT department manager was showing me a new Cisco 5510 Instrusion Prevention System about a month ago.  Last week he asks me to read up on configurig one from the default settings.

That critter actually has a default config?

Yes.  Apparently, the 5510 is an upgrade of the PIX firewall.

I'm out of my element here, but I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity.  I work for a small company, and I don't know if they can spare the resources to hire another system admin.
