Put your predictions here before the game starts.

Arizona 20 - ****ing Steelers 24.   :bawl:

Already watched an hour of pre-game hype. LOL Will take a break, get some stuff done then head back for more hype. (if there is one game that can't get enough hype, it's the superbowl)

Go Cardinals!!!

I read on another board that if you order Dominoes right now you will get it at 9:00 PM.

I am off to get BBQ in a few minutes.

I thought about that yesterday and got pizza last night rather than today, lol. I've got some roast beast to throw in the oven in a few hours. Snack food for all day.

The Superbowl is my second favorite holiday!  :cheersmate:

Hey dudes...we have wings, pizza coming around later, and all sorts of other dips and snacks.

I'm sending a paper off now and then I have to tidy up the house a bit in prep for a couple peeps trailing in here and there.

Enjoy!

Oh and I will be rooting for the Cards. I have to after living in Phoenix..just seems right! Especially since this is a shocker after all those years of crap for a team! Go Cards!

It's appetizers in my house all day, all night.    My almost 5 year old twins LOVE superbowl Sunday.

Hopefully it will be a close game to keep the interest level intact.

It'll be somewhere near what freedumb posted.

My major conservative vice is that I love Springsteen.  I've got my own views over what songs he's gonna play, and I know what the New York Post's spies have said will be the playlist.  I got two of their four right.

Troy Polamalu will run back at least one interception for a TD.  Steelers 28, Cards 10.

When I was getting BBQ, there was a Dominoes next door.  I stuck my head in and asked and they said they have a lot of orders for right before the game and you probably won't get a delivery during the game but right now no backlog at all and if you order it will be delivered by game time.

Nice basketball game broke up the SB hype. Cleveland Cavs (the CLE Lebron James') beat the Pistons. Good stuff.

Now back to football hype laundry and thinking about throwing the meat in the oven. What a great lazy Sunday.  :-) It's even into the 40's outside! Yee-ha

Ben, you're always running here and there
You feel you're not wanted anywhere
If you ever look behind
And don't like what you find
There's one thing you should know
You've got a place to go
(you've got a place to go)

Lets see what they do with the turnover...

Doesn't matter.  They got the ball back, thus taking away the Steeler's momentum (again) and denying them a chance to score before the half.

They can run the dang clock down now.   Some points will be nice, but not necessary.

They get the ball after the half.  It's all good.

Pgh D does it -- and how funny is it to see a lineman go 100 yards?  They usually run out of gas.

That is a game-breaker.  It is a 14-point swing.

If that was a spectacular pick, then I would give the defense props.   He threw the damn ball to him.  He never should have thrown the ball.   Run it and if you can't get in then kick it.    Tie the game, you get the ball back after the half.

Even I, a stupid girl no less, knows that.

It was more subtle than you think.  Pgh faked a blitz which made W throw quickly.  The Lineman was reading W and jumped the route.

That was brilliant -- and risky -- defense.

His receiver was in triple coverage, it hit him in the chest.   That ball never should have been thrown.   Fake blitz or not, you take the sack and kick the ball.

Never should have thrown that ball.   Rookie mistake that probably cost them the game.

He was not in triple coverage -- the outside receivers were.  The subbed a linebacker for the middle field and had him take the hot receiver since they knew that Warner would panic.

Look back at your TIVO and watch the secondary.

But you are right about Warner reverting to his post-SB ways of throwing ill=advised passes.

ps: Springsteen was OK tonight.

Warner tried to force it in -- I watched it several times.   I don't see that as panic at all, just a really bad judgement call.  His receiver was surrounded by Steelers.   The ball never should have been thrown.

Can you imagine starting off with Back in Black, next up You Shook Me All Night Long, then For Those About to Rock, and to finish it off, THE song I think about when I think of hard-hitting football, Thunderstruck?

Watch this video in it's entirety and tell me you don't think it's an awesome theme song for football:

I will say this--Larry Fitzgerald is a high-octane receiver.  I'm not a Giants fan, but could you see him with Eli--or Peyton--as his QB?  He'd have damn near a record for completion yardage every other week.

Y'all need to switch over to ABC and get a load of the "Wipeout Bowl."  Freakin' hysterical!  :lmao:

I was rooting for the Steelers from the beginning.

The penalties were outrageous but apart from a late hit on Rothliswhatthe****ever where the tackler simply had too much momentum the calls were fair. Too many penalties became game changers.

It seems the Cardinals didn't bother showing up until the 4th quarter but when they did they brought a lethal offense. At that point I wanted the Cards to win because the Cards were down 13 and to date the greatest come-from-behind win was from a 10 point deficit.

Alas, Holmes altered that equation do to severe tactical failures from the AZ defense.

Good job Pittsburgh, you earned it.

AZ's defense had to stand on their heads with that personal foul on Pittsburg's field goal.  Can't blame the loss on them, they did all they could.  Like you said, it was a mistake not to get Fitz in the game sooner.

You apparently didn't see what the **** I'm talking about. You don't hold a player down, punch him in the back, and when he tries to get up, push his ass down.

That was pretty shitty.

A good physical game iadds to the competition but that was just plain shitty.

That happened exactly where and when?  If you are talking about the p/f it was righteous and the player was flagged.

Yeah, he was "flagged". He should have been ejected.

It happened mere moments before John Madden uttered the words, "He should be ejected for that."  That's the play in question.

RCN Cable Problems Plague Manhattan (http://wcbstv.com/local/rcn.cable.problems.2.924019.html)
Quote
Some Manhattan residents who subscribe to RCN Cable were forced to move their Super Bowl parties elsewhere Sunday night thanks to near-constant miserable reception.

Upper East Side resident Tal Reichman told CBS 2 HD he reported having very minor issues early Sunday afternoon, but the company assured him it would clear up in time for the game.

By the time his friends arrived for the party he was throwing at 6 p.m., Reichman's reception was completely shot, with pixelated video cutting out or pausing practically every three seconds.

Calls to RCN were not immediately returned to CBS 2 HD. Reichman said a representative he spoke with shortly after 6 told him the problem was occurring "in all of Manhattan."

Later, another representative said he believed the problem was isolated to Reichman's high-rise, though a technician couldn't come out to address the problem until Wednesday.

Tragic.

Actually, even though I'm rather satisfied with the outcome, I found the game to be fairly boring, until the fourth quarter.

The office 'bat is a Buffalo Bills fan.  He bet my supervisor a year ago that the Bills would win the Super Bowl in 2010.  We'll see.  They're on the clock, too.

Pitchers and catchers in 11 or so days . . .

I saw the last 8 minutes of the first half and the second half.  It was OK as far as Super Bowls go.  At least it came down to the wire.

Just waiting for jcc to show up and make excuses (story of his life).

yeah, I covered the spread ... ...only suckers would've taken this terrible steelers team by 7 points  ...

my teams weren't in this game, so I lost no sleep as long as I covered the spread...

You were not disappointed.  No surprise.

but I guess you steelers fans were disappointed...

your overrated defense had 400 plus yards crammed down their throats & as predicted by millions of people before the game, a RECORD NUMBER of penalties were called on the Cards & yet, it took the last seconds of the game for  Obama's team to win the game...

hardly dominating on the steelers side of the ball  ...

but hey, did  Big Bens offense get ANY yards on their own in that opening 3rd quarter drive for a whopping 3 points  ??

Fixed.

You picked the Cards.  Last year you picked the Pats.  Before that you picked the Bears.

Yeah, your track record of winning is impecible. :whatever:

.

the prior two years SB's  I picked during PRE SEASON...  you forgot to mention that I picked the Bears & Pats to win the SB 4 months before we actually had a superbowl ...

& you forgot to mention, I picked your Panthers to CHOKE HARD these past 2 years  & what exactly happened  to them again?? ...

and both this year & last year I made money on the SB, so I didn't lose what  actually counts...

by the way, the PATS will be thanking your Panthers for Julius Peppers too ...he will be a Patriot in  in a few weeks.... just wait n see...

Nope.  You picked prior to the SB.

Your past picks have been (latest to first) Cards, Pats, Bears, Seahawks, Eagles, Panthers, Raiders, Rams, Giants, Titans, Falcons, Packers, Pats, Steelers, Chargers, Bills, Bills, Bills, Bills, ..........

You are 0-43.  Sorta like your luck with mercury.

Where did you get that info on Peppers?

Nope.  You picked prior to the SB.

Everyone picked the Pats to win, cause they should have won.   Samuel drops a Manning pick that any highschool freshman bench warmer would have nailed, and the game is over.

In his defense (as he is a Pats fan),   you have to pick against Peyton.     I am still sickened that he won that game.

The Steelers played piss poor (which is par for the course for the entire NFL season), but they won anyway.    La-tee-da.    2008 is put to bed, and let us never see another 9-7 team go to the SB again.
