Title: Harry Reid: Don't Blame Us, Blame the Politically Impotent

As the $820 billion stimulus package heads to the upper chamber, Senate Democratic leaders are launching a pre-emptive strike.
In a Thursday afternoon news conference, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid urged Senate Republicans not to line up against the bill, and says Republicans will be blamed for any delay in the landmark economic legislation.

“If we don’t [pass the bill], it’s not our fault, we’re trying,” Reid said. “The president has done a remarkable job covering all the bases on Capitol Hill.”

And Senate Vice Chairman Charles Schumer said that any GOP effort to lay the blame on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for failing to win was “very unfair.”

Correct me if I'm wrong (yeah, like that could ever happen!) but aren't these the same jackholes who are twisting laws to benefit Franken and trying to get RINOs to become cabinet members so as to make the senate filibuster-proof?

They want all the power but none of the responsibility for its effects...which is very telling about how they perceive the efficacy of their own proposals.

Just like we've all known and said here...any failure of this administration or the Congress will automatically be blamed on Republicans.

I'm amazed sometimes at just how far the Democrat Party will go to distance themselves from their own failures and project their own shortcomings onto others.

Standing in front of a long line of liberals and the msm with your zipper down saying "uh, fellate me" is the new definition of "covering all the bases."

They don't have to have a single republican vote to pass this legislation, do they?  They just want republican votes for it so they can blame them later when it doesn't work.  I say let the democrats get all the credit for it.

My husband is an Excel geek and he is spending this weekend going through the stimulus bill and putting it in a spreadsheet.  One thing he found so far is the fact that they are requesting $500 million to expand the WIC program.  Only 18% goes for the actual food.  The rest goes for administration and oversight.

Would be GREAT to post at least some of that SS here. Please?

The Democrats have, what, 59 votes in the Senate?

This isn't enough to pass that bill?

I'd be happy to post that spreadsheet here - can that be done?  I'd also be happy to e-mail it to anyone who wants it.

Not if Democrats like Ben Nelson -D Nebraska stand in the way

My 8th grade government teacher made a statement that stuck with me, and has YET to be proven wrong:

"If you want the least done for the most amount of money, get the government to do it."

Amen, Bill, amen!

But Ben Nelson is a Democrat, and so he's the Democrat's problem.

We're not the problem--we have not the votes nor the power to interfere with anything.

I think Harry would be better off trying to keep his own in line, rather than trying to steal some of ours.

There is a way to post attachments. If you decide to do it, PM Wretched Excess. He's the attachment guru. :-)

I would love to see some Dems jump ship and the bill fail. Reid would choke to death.

I think that's going to happen.

That's my gut's feeling.  Too many folks want to be reelected, and this thing is getting out of hand....publicity-wise.

The democrats and their Magic Negro are somehow stuck in 1993.  They think the 12 years of Republican majority was an aberration.  Now the order has been restored.

This isn't 1993.  The world has changed.  We no longer depend on ABC, CNN, NBC, and See BS for our daily frame of mind.

This is also why the "Fairness Doctrine" doesn't have a plastic statue of Barney The Dinosaur's chance in hell of being revived.

The Heritage Foundation has already done some number-crunching.  Less than 20% of the money in this "stimulus" package will be spent in the next 18 months.

Oh, that's just the tip of the iceberg.  It appears that this bill is little more than an attempt at creating even more government jobs with arbitrary amounts of money for "administrative" costs.  Not to mention, there seems to be a whole lot of wiggle room for slush fund money for a whole slew of appointees and other important government people.  Those "administrative" costs might create some jobs - but we don't need more government jobs.

There is absolutely NO WAY that a $1.2 TRILLION package can be conjured up by Dems without a huge amount of pork, wasteful spending, and plenty of opportunity for graft, greed, and corruption.

Not that the Republicans don't know what that is.  :whatever:  The only difference is, the Dems can put it together faster.

Schumer and Reid: Is there a complete set of testicles between those two, or any at all?

Likewise among the entire Democrat membership in Congress?

Politically speaking what possible incentive could any Republican have to vote for this bill.   If it passes and things get worse, the repubs will go down with the dems. The dems will just say "well you voted for it too".   If it passes and things get better, the dems will say "hey look what we did!!" and no credit will be given to Republicans.
