For me angry is not a strong enough word.
I do not want handouts I want a job.
If I had a job I could pay my bills, buy more food, pay my rent, pay my taxes, go out to eat a couple of times a month, buy gas for my car, give a little to charity, and hold my head up high knowing that I am making my own way. Multiply that by a couple of million, Republicans voted against it because it will work.
Republicans want us to suffer for voting them out, I say screw them. When I see that they voted against putting people back to work I know for a fact that they do not care for working people one bit.
I actually read the economic stimulus bill, If nothing else it will put some people back to work, it could not possibly fail on that point. What it fails to do is put money directly in rich peoples pockets without accountability, we have already seen how that works. What they really hate is the strict oversight written into it. Every dollar is to be accountable to the public on a website. No chance to funnel a couple of million into a country club or a private, exclusive, upscale anything. This is for the working man and they are showing the same concern for us they always have by voting no.
I am done crying about my personal life, Unemployment, late notices, no jobs to be had, the sheer impossibility of getting unemployment are all problems that many are facing right now. Now I am just angry.
I am angry at those who let our jobs evaporate in the name of "free trade".
I am angry at those who sold a bunch of unethical loans and then leveraged them a hundred times and then blamed the victims for being stupid enough to fall for them.
I am angry at those who started an incredibly costly war just make money off of it.
I am angry at the people who actually thought the economy would be so much better if no one ever did anything to protect it.
I am angry at people who say they love America but hate most of the people who live here. Ahem...
I am pissed at EVERYONE who puts party before country. Ahem...
I am totally livid at the banks who took our bailout money and loaned none of it out.Didn't the Democrats?...
I am almost in a blind rage at Cheney and Bush for slashing taxes on rich people and running huge deficits for the rest of us to pay for And the new Pork Bill is going to?...
Finally I am about to stroke out at the thought of the house republicans trying to stand in the way of putting me and millions of others back to work. How could these people think they are helping America by doing nothing? NOTHING! These people are monsters. They want Obama to fail even if it means a years long depression. They intend to stand in the way of anything that might make Obama look good and by extension put me and many others back to work.
I merely disliked republican policies before and saved my anger for the the ones who led them like the selfish sheep they are. But now I totally hate every last one of the bastards who in the face of a crisis like we have never known in our lifetimes still cling to partisanship in the hopes that our president will fail.
And most of all I hate Rush Limbaugh. More than any other American I hate him. Even more than Bush. I hate him and he hates me because I work for a living.
I am normally a forgiving person but there will never come a day when I will feel any different.
What a ****ing loser.

2. I feel for you.
Whenever I think of the last 8 years, I feel sick.
After the Iraq war started, I used to wake up in the morning and think of what the Iraqis were going through, and feeling totally helpless at not being able to do anything.
You should write a book about what you have been through. A ton of books should be written about what the Republicans have wrought. So that people never forget. Ever.
You could write it for children and call it Horton Hears A Jackass.

7. Don't be so pissed off
Anger drives men to foolish things. Cool down. Get frigid skulled. Stay frosty.
Things are going to get bad. Let's face it ... class war has been going on for a long time and we have been on the receiving end of it. We need to be strategic in our thought, and when victorious (because WE WILL BE) we must be both realistic and merciful.
For now, we still have a small but blessed chance to avoid blood in the streets. We have to work these issues with images of Gaza in mind ... if things get too bad for too many people, our streets could wind up looking like that. We don't wanna go there. In fact, we don't want to let things get so bad for so many people that such a scene becomes a probability, because that long precursor is every bit as horrible as the catharsis.
So we have to stick together. We have to work for every step forward we can make. We have to back Barak's play right now. The plan ain't perfect but, my friend, the unattainable ideal of perfection is indeed the enemy of the good. We have to **show** our support.
It is time to make noise.
Trav
That's ALL you guys do.

9. I thought this post would be cathartic.
I am not a violent man under any circumstances but the frustration of wanting to work and not being able to find any kind of job preys on my mind. What makes it worse is knowing that it all could have been prevented if the people in charge would have had some foresight or at least some oversight. The party is over and like always it is up to everyday people to foot the bill and clean up the mess.

14. "These people are monsters." That says it all. They want a collapse to blame Obama
And if the recovery plan works, that's a catastrophe for them. Just like the New Deal put the Repugs out of power for a generation.
They would rather the country experience a collapse and complete misery for their partisan purposes.
They are monsters, more precisely traitors, and there's no way of logically explaining the behavior of monsters.

16. Don't forget to include those idiot working class morons who continue to vote
against their own best financial interest, simply because they believe their leaders who tell them that if they just work hard enough, one day they will be among the top 1% in this country. Never mind that all the policies their leaders enact goes against that bull crap lie! Those people are who I hate. Morans!
Like my wife and I and millions of other Americans who don't sit around bitching about the handouts they aren't getting?

17. Agreed
My first reply as a recent sign up. I agree with you. I feel this way every single day. I live in a Red State, work in a Red Industry, and am surrounded by blind faith Repukes. I have to listen to GOPCNBC all day long in my work area. Articles like this and this site have been a Godsend and basically an escape to reality for me and I appreciate it greatly. A person in my area, when commenting on the incredible inauguration this year, actually said, "I don't see what the big deal is". I guess if you are a bigot, then no, you would not. My son (7 mos.) will have a Black Man as his first President of the United States. It's a big deal. Another die hard GOP backer that uses the term "they" when referring to Democrats, didn't even know who Ron Paul was. I almost shit myself. I had to bite my tongue as I do everyday. I got to see Rush on CNBC today, so I was fired up and had to go to the DU for solace! Thanks for the great articles and small slice of the outside world I can find here!
It's like someone rushing to a gas pump to try to douse a stupidity fire. :whatever:

the REAL family values.
I have just lately gotten back to work after a month-long lay-off. I had a lot of time to think about the future and what it holds for all of us. I had way more time on my hands than I have ever had in my adult life. I didn't like it.
Recession, depression, whatever you call it means the same to me. Less building means less work, In the future I am guaranteed to be short of work and in no position to ask for a progressive wage. I am 44 years-old and have been doing the same thing, more or less, since I was 19 years-old. 25 years of sawing and joining wood. A man that knows how to build and repair nearly anything should never have to struggle to find work.
....blah blah blah
She lives in north Alabama, an eight hour trip away. She has finally won me over and I am going back to the town of my birth to live in their house with them. I figure that if I must ride out a depression that I should a least live where the rest of my large extended family lives.
Mom and Dad can no longer manage either physically or financially in their retirement. Their house is falling apart. My Dad is no carpenter, he tries hard but he really never seems to get it right.
...blah blah blah
I don't want to live in Alabama. I am way too informed and outspoken for them.
So here we are a man and woman who after having worked all of their lives face an uncertain future of way too many bills and not enough money and a 44 year-old son and his wife who being short on work must move back in with them.

Angrycarpenter,
So much bullshit so little time.
If you are really interested in work you are not far from it. New Orleans, Lake Charles, Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange, Gavleston ..... any of that ringing a bell? If you can hold a hammer and you are breathing there are jobs. Look 'em up.

Yes, the Dems Do want that and that is why most of them have will vote for this pork package. They are just giving the American one big sausage link. This is their way of trying to stay in power.

Seriously you have to be a retard missing 3 limbs to NOT get a job doing construction down south right now.
-
If he is any good at all, then he won't have any problems working his own business. One of my friends in Maryland works exclusively doing repairs and woodworking on houses. The guy stays busy and earns more than I did, which I thought was pretty good. He said he has noticed a small dip, but houses are going to have issues which means people are going to call him.
On edit: Does anyone want to bet he is among the legions of perpetually stoned construction workers? My FIL started at 16 as a painter and owned his own business at 23. My FIL has never been a stoner.

I have no sympathy for someone too stupid to realize there are informed (smart) people EVERYWHERE.
That statement alone says a lot about how this person interacts with the world and those around them.

Of course, he means only people that think like him and don't differ in any major detail from it.

I've got work for him. I pay $15/hr come and get it. However, I do demand that the person shows up on time and works hard when here.
Three reason AC will not work for me:
1. I don't pay $50/hr
2. I demand workers show up everyday on time.
3. I demand they work hard while on the job.

$15/hr is good money in a lot of places. I know of a few places where you would have five hundred resumes sitting on your desk for that kind of cash.

Go back about a month and you can get the story on his attempt at running his own business. He was complaining about how good he was but then the state of Florida started requiring home repair companies to have a license and carry insurance.
Sounded to me like he was running an "under the table" business and he got caught.
-
Why are they so angry at republicans for not voting for it.? If it is such a wonderful plan then they should be excited that they didn't vote for it so their precious dems can get all the credit if it works. I think they know it probably wont work so they are crapping their pants knowing that the dems aren't going to have any cover when the shit hits the fan.

Ahh, yes I remember that. He said something that he couldn't afford a lawyer to set up an incorporated business. :whatever:
As Texacon said, there are plenty of construction jobs in SE Texas. Hell, even the DUer knows there are jobs in Alabama, he just doesn't want to live there. I have no sympathy for someone not willing to move where there are good jobs.

Oh, he's THAT primitive. I remembered that, but couldn't remember which one it was. I still wonder why he didn't set up an LLC. That is a very, very common business practice, it doesn't even really cost very much.

I'm not even sure he would have qualified to incorporate. There are companies that would have had his business set up as an LLC all legal and above board in just a few days.

Either way LLC or Inc, it's not like he couldn't have done it himself with the help of a website or two. It's not that hard.

What, they don't advertise LegalZoom on moonbat channels?

I guess that's why it struck me that this guy is a stoner. I know this is a stereotype, but every 44 year old construction worker that I've ever known, that wasn't a business owner or manager, was a stoner.
-
OK, I was reading through this thread, when I came to the part about "read back about a month or so, he was the guy who tried to go into business...." Makes perfect sense. You all know what is personally required to go into business, and this guy doesn't have it in droves. This is precisely the sort who moves back in with his parents at 44 years old. And will blame everybody, including a political entity, for his troubles.
Jesus, I have brother in law like that. We don't have anything to do with him. He finally got a few dollars in his pocket and *poof* gambled it away. Lives in his car, last I heard.

Well I"m new here, so I don't know who bobolink is, but I can imagine. It's not MY genetic material, it's my husband's brother. The scumbag was a wife-beater, too, a real piece of work. Deserves the life of a loser.
One more thought about Angrycarpenter. Anyone who sits down and thinks up a screenname "Angrycarpenter, yeah, that's it!" Can you imagine this person bidding on a homeowner's remodel job? Entrusting him during the day to deal with his wife alone, perhaps? I've been the wife dealing with a contractor, it can be uncomfortable if you get bad vibes. No wonder nobody's hiring.
Oh and another genius tip for success....you won't believe this one....Show up for the job you've accepted! ta-daaa!

I am done crying about my personal life, Unemployment, late notices, no jobs to be had, the sheer impossibility of getting unemployment are all problems that many are facing right now. Now I am just angry.
Anyone here believe he'll actually stop crying about his life? There ARE things he could do to be proactive...he COULD go help his parents because it's the RIGHT thing to do and they would be helping each other which is what families do. I think I could handle living in an "intellectually challenged" area in the short term (hell, I live in moonbat central and have most of my life and I'm pretty content), especially when there's the library, Internet, real life lefty groups (even in Alabama). Imagine the possibilities...people in mom and pop's neighborhood see the quality of his work. They need repairs, their friends need repairs, people are fixing and remodeling instead of selling right now and laws are probably not as restrictive. He could have the business he always dreamed of. He could be his own boss, travel to the intellectual capital he currently lives in on his days off.
But okay, he couldn't deal with, even for a minute, standing in line at the local redneck Quicky Mart buying cigarettes behind a good ole boy who's just dumb enough to be buying AMERICAN beer on his way home from work (have they never heard of LaBatt's or Moosehead). He needs some kind of expensive license that requires a lawyer to obtain...I've never heard of such a thing and I come from a family chock full of contractors and construction workers, but we'll take him at his word. There's STILL things he can do.
How about all those general handyman kinds of things...fixing cabinet doors, shoring up a porch, repairing a tool shed...you know, the little niggling things on the "honey do" list that need doing but there never seems to be the time. Single women and mothers often don't have a honey to do them. When you're married to government, they just don't come home on the weekend to put a new flow valve in the toilet. Little local papers and Craig'slist are great places to advertise this kind of service.
But no, it's more important to let every fricken person on the planet know how bad his life is, he's simply a victim because the way out isn't perfect, doesn't give him everything he wants. Besides, as long as it's someone else's fault HE doesn't have to be responsible. Even if someone did give him a job there would be something wrong with that. The pay would be too little. The hours would be too long. The work would be too hard. The benefits would be shit. The bonuses too small. The nails too short. The sheet rock too hard.
Even were the American people to say, "Listen little carpenter boy, we're SICK and TIRED of your tantrums. In spite of the fact that we know better, we're going to give you what you want. We'll pay you, oh say about what your average corporate fat cat earns. You haven't really done anything, but you're an American, you DESERVE it. Just pound a nail into a board here and there whenever you feel like it. Don't strain yourself. Oh, and don't worry about that silly health care nonsense. Bethesda is at your beck and call. If you have any problems, call the president, he'll take them to task!"
He'd still be complaining...not that his fellow citizens don't have what he has (doubt the plight of his fellow man would enter into it)...he'd be complaining he's not being paid extra for the nails he has to buy, or that he has to do his own shopping, or that no one is paying for a personal trainer. His health is suffering from laying around eating Cheetos and pork rinds. SOMEONE should do something. And as for those Cheetos...where the hell is the Cheetos allowance.

Not me. He isn't angry because he wants a job and can't get one, he's angry because he wants the world to French-kiss his ass and they won't do it. That's not gonna change, so I predict continued irrational rage.
