Stinky The Clown
What would be wrong with nationalizing the banks?
The question is asked honestly.
I have no idea of the answer.

Ah yes, nothing like gov't ownership and control over all industries. Stinky makes Lenin happy.
More commies agree.

1. Start with nationalizing the fed.
That way, you don't have to pay for using your own tax money, and you have control of the money supply.

2. The country would be crawling with homeless CEOs.

5. And that's a bad thing?

I've heard they can be pretty tasty if you know how to cook them.

3. I wouldn't have a problem with it. But then, I'm a Socialist.
Or I would be if they could get elected to anything.

4. I think it is time to do it.
Other than some pukes whining about socialism, the American taxpayer is investing in them, keeping them all afloat, we should own them.

I can think of two things.
1. No more $87,000 throw rugs for CEO's.
2. No more $50 million private jets for a few executives to tool around in.
That would be unamerican.

7. Nothing. It would work out okay. In fact, it is happening. It's just that no one is admitting it.

8. There's nothing wrong with it and we probably should go ahead and do it.
Everyone needs to know that if "the people" are putting this much money in them, then "the people" are going to straighten them out.
In the long run I don't think we want to keep them nationalized, but it looks like we'll have to do it to straighten out the situation. It seems like the current execs aren't going to do what needs to be done. After all, it's in their personal interests to put as much money in their individual pockets as they can. So, they'll continue to do that.
After things are straightened out, which make take a few years, then the banks can be sold off to the highest bidder(s). Of course, we'll need have stricter regulations in place.
But given the current sitution, I think it's pretty clear that it's time to consider nationalizing the banks.

9. Abosolutely nothing. Every country that has gone through a banking crisis every now and then does it. When they fix the problems, then they sell them back to the private sector. If we do it though we need to bring back regulation like we had back in the fifties and sixties. The banking system worked well then.

10. Nothing. It would put an end to capitalism that has ruined this country.

11. I don't know either. Anybody with experience with a nationalized bank here?
Hello? Anybody??
I'd like to know too. I'm not in favor of nationalizing banks but I think it is ironic that Bush has CAUSED the nationalization of banks with his extreme laissez-faire policies. Wasn't this what his party was against?
I don't eventhink that is the question. I think the question is: why does unrestrained market "freedom" result in the collapse of governments' markets? Hmmm...

13. I read somewhere that France did it not so long ago.
Once they cleaned up the corruption and abuses, they sold them back to the private sector with better regulations.

12. Here's an article from David Sanger:
Nationalization Gets a New, Serious Look

14. wonder what happens if you go bankrupt
you go to jail is it a felony

15. Nationalizing helps the poor and low class and middle class.
If banks are nationalized then they would probably have an oversight and agenda that would be to help the country and the voters and poor. A lot of people could care less about helping anybody. They just want to accumulate as much money as they can. That is why the want no taxes. No Taxes. It is absolutely verifiable and provable that cutting taxes cause recessions. All you have to do is look at the tax rates for each year and then look at what the economy does. The objections for nationalizing banks comes from conservative republicans who would rather see you dead than give you any help. They believe that if you are having a bad time that is your fault, you choose to do that. Why would they or anyone object to free national health care. If you object to free national health care you are telling the poor " I wish you were dead ". So if that is how they feel about the poor, how much do you think they want to help anybody else.
Were the Founding Fathers to return from the grave, they would be asking us why we haven't shot these anti-American, freedom-hating traitors yet.

Where do the primitives get this silly idea that nationalization "hurts" what's being nationalized, as if the thing being nationalized is a person with feelings?
It's obvious the "socialist" primitives aren't really interested in socialism per se, but in "getting back" at, in getting revenge on, something for perceived wrongs.
It seems to me more reasonable to nationalize the sparking husband primitive's rental units, so as to provide free housing for the homeless.

They always conveniently excuse or rationalize there way out of participating in the pain they wish to inflict on everyone else.
It is why they hate each other so much...they know that the next primitive they see wishes evil on them as much as they do on him/her.

The banking system is prone to this situation ever so often. Just as a functioning economic system has downturns. You don't shoot your pet because it contracted some minor treatable illness, you just accept that it happens from time to time treat it and go on with life.

You know what I want?
I want my percentage of all the social programs. 1/300,000,000 of every dollar spent on lazy shitbags. I think that is only fair.

And they aren't even wrongs against the primitives personally. None of those idiots has suffered personally they only think in abstarct terms of "the poor" and "the oppressed" people they very rarely find in real life because they don't live in such circumstances but don't actually help when they do cross paths with one. They are angry over the oppression of figments of their imaginations. Their socialism is dispaced anger over whatever in their own lives prevents them from fulfilling their own lives.
Only the materially well-off can afford to bleat about socialism.

So smelly jester primitive desires communism.
