BE MY FRIEND, DAMMIT! :censored:
-
Oh noes.... :rotf:
-
So far, it seems you are alone, Chris. :uhsure: :p
-
That's okay. I wasn't expecting a lot of responses.
:couch:
-
Sadly, I have one, but only to irk the libs on CrapSpace now and then. Chris, I think you're on my friends' list actually.

You were expecting me to tell you that this is stupid.
But who am I to note that people are being denied jobs in this economy for not only their personal posting but friends posting pics of them?
And of course, the idea that a "secure" site can't be hacked or backtracked to the RL user is ridiculous!
But I appreciate you starting a whole thread predicated on my dire predictions of the idiocy of Facebook, Myspace,Yourspace, YoMama or anywhere else where you link your RL persona to your interwebz alias.
I don't care if you do -- but next week I may buy a $250K RV in your name and publish in the SF Chronicle you are William Pitt's lover.
Ignore my cautions at your peril.
-
I checked, I didn't see you. Did you close that account?
-
You were expecting me to tell you that this is stupid.
I was expecting you to be the usual stick in the mud, wet blanket that you always are.
Don't you go changing now.
-
Oh noes.... :rotf:
Not good when you are on the interwebz with a paranoid like me.
Right hun?
-

Dumbass -- I backtracked that and found out that is your real name! Now EVERYONE knows!!!!

What it boils down to is what is the possibility that something might happen against the probability that it will happen.
I wouldn`t guess the odds or the mechanisms but would suspect one has as good or better chance for identity theft by using a credit card anywhere (not just online) or by booking/confirming a flight online, using email etc.
Those issues involve addresses and SS numbers stored in computer data banks.
I suspect that no one is even as close to being anonymous in this world as they may wish to be.
-
I've had a MySpace page for a few years.
-
I am on there, I have Chris, Atomic, Morning Angel, Mia, Sonnabend, and who knows who else on there.
-
I actually have both myspace and facebook. Mypsace is to keep tabs on my kids, and facebook is too keep in touch with family and other friends...I don't arbitrarily add just anyone to my friends list.

All probabilities are 50/50 -- either something happens or it doesn't.

That is encouraging because it means I have a 50% chance of winning Mega Millions tonight despite the odds they list. :-)

I'm on myspace! I love it, it's a fun way to keep in touch with friends, bands, fav tv shows. Stuff like that. I think some people need to lighten up and take it for what it is :) Another way to kill time and have a little fun with friends :)
-
Guilty. But I don't think I've been to my MySpace page in something like a year. Does that still count?

Oh it counts ;) lol You are socially networked!! (and you like it) ;)

Then one of us should win, because I have a ticket for it also. :)
-
So if we agree to split it that gives us a 100% certainty. :cheersmate:

Works for me . :cheersmate:

I'm on MySpace but I hardly ever check it anymore. Not on Facebook. I only got on MySpace after Sweet Dee talked me into it. lol
-
I got badgered into it by my friends and family. And they still complain that I don't call or talk to anyone.
I keep telling them if they want to talk to me, they can always sign up here. :-)

Yeah, MySpace is good for music. I have had a couple friend requests from sorta local bands that are starting to see good things happen. They always appreciate kind words and comments.

HA!
I just went to check MySpace and had a message from a close friend from High School. She told me that some other classmates have been looking for me on Facebook and they set up a group for our school.
I went to a small, private, conservative Christian school and with less then 400 people in grades K to 12 you ended up being close friends with everyone.
-
I am on there but rarely use it.

You'll be sorry.
I was just reading this week about a girl whose "friends" found her and posted pictures of her in less-than-sterling college mode and she lost her job. Maybe being found by friends isn't a good thing.
I have my friends. I don't need to be "found" by anyone in my past. If I wanted to stay in touch with them I would have.

I'll take my chances.

Young and a risk-taker. The profile of kids who make that huge mistake.
But I have come to know you as pretty level-headed so I'll just monitor your MySpace and Facebook pages in the hopes of case your friends post naughty pics of your wilder and younger days.

I tried telling my friends and family that too.

Thanks. :-)
I was very wild in my younger days, but there were no phone cameras back then!
I know a gal that has put herself in a couple bad situations by running out to meet someone she had met online. One ended up making threats to her and her family and the cops had to get involved. Alot of single women with kids are just in a hurry to find "daddy" I guess.
