Help!!! :-)
I got a new video camera for Christmas and I downloaded the software that came with it and spent all of Sunday taking the videos off of it and putting them on the laptop. There were tons of them because we had a Taekwondo tournament that I recorded.
Anyway.....after all of that, I discover that my laptop does not burn DVD's. :thatsright: The intention was to burn DVD's for the grandparents who aren't tech savvy and can just pop a DVD in to watch.
I tried uploading one of the umpteenmillion clips to putfile and youtube to see if that would work thinking that maybe I could just put them online and tell the grandparents to click and watch.
It's taking FOREVER!!! The single file I chose as a test run is over 80MG. It's been uploading for over 30 minutes.
Any suggestions? I'm tired of fooling with this and ready to mail the darn video camera to my parents with a note that says, "press play". :lmao:

Firstly an 80 meg file is a big upload. Especially if you've got a fairly normal 128/256/512K DSL upload speed.
What format are the video files in..
Most DVD players have the ability to load and display a fairly decent selection of movie types if copied onto a CD. Operation is similar to viewing a JPEG file or playing an mp3.
I'd try converting the files to mpeg or avi and copying them to CD as you would any other file. Keep the file name short if possible as some DVD players have issues displaying longer file names.
Test it out on your home DVD player to ensure it works.

You can get a DVD burner from any Computer strore (at Circuit City for a whole freaking 10% less) for about $40 -- or online even less. Check Amazon.com, where I get most of my technology.

An external one ?
Remember this is for a laptop.

Thanks guys!!
We have a desktop PC that has all of the bells and whistles and burns DVD's. I just can't get hubby off of it and I already loaded everything on to my machine.
I will try the CD trick. Good suggestions!
I was able to FINALLY get them on a private youtube channel so the ones who are tech-savvy can go online. Maybe I can avoid the whole burning disks thing entirely.

Oh God, do we need "does anyone here post personal information on YouTube?" thread?

Youtube doesn't like files over 10Mb.
