Sorta blah so far.
My daughter and I stayed up a bit last night and watched Cloverfield together and I had to set the stupid alarm for 6am to take the puppy out so that she didn't explode. :p
Went back to bed and slept a couple more hourss and then made us some food. Pepper pup has actually been pretty good today. No accidents and she ran around until she wore herself out and went back into her crate.
Phucking Photobucket nuked another picture of mine and when I went to check which one in particular they have an ad running on the site that hijacks your window with a fake virus checker. A-holes.

bleh....Our Wii stopped working for some reason, and I can't figure out why...keep getting an error code. Technology is not my department, but Mr Flame is busy building downstairs so he doesn't have time to mess with it.
Went to a fund raiser meeting for the Dance Company. Hoping to offset some of our costs for our SERBA trip. Any wealthy people out there want to help a non-profit group? LOL
Nothing exciting planned for the rest of the day...might take a nap.

We are having an early birthday party for the 9 year old.
The hubs and I are going to go see the new Underworld movie tonight! Yes!
-
I'm at my every-other-weekend job. I'm very bored. I'm ready to get home and Mario Kart it up!
This evening will be filled with the usual festivities at my friend's house.
Flame: That totally sucks about your Wii. *hugs*
Tess: Be wary, I think I got the sickies from someone at a 4 year olds birthday party last Sunday.

I saw that shit too. :censored: I'm running a virus scan on my system just to be sure nothing got FUBAR'ed.
They turned me away from the inspection station. Could have had something to do with that leaky injector and the decrepit state of the vacuum lines on the engine. Said I was smoking. So I will be freezing my ass off in the parking lot tomorrow doing some tests.

Thanks for the warning.....good thing we didn't invite anyone outside of our family. Literally - just me, the hubs and the kids. We are snobs. LMAO

Nice quiet day today.
The whole family took a walk down to the local park; my son played on the slides and swings, the dog got to take a few breaths out of the doghouse (since my wife was in the car accident, the dog has seen her disappearance/reappearance with injuries as an opening in the Alpha female post, and has been campaigning for it by marking territory in the house :thatsright: ) and my wife got to go outside on her crutches and get some exercise.
Now, I'm on the laptop, working on polishing my resume, all the better to get it out to the recruiters ASAP, the wife is on the couch reading a book, the boy's down for a nap, and the dog is back in her crate (her choice).

My husband came home today from his business trip. We went out to lunch and just got back. Later we are going to go see the movie Slumdog Millionaire.
Opinions please: I went over to a friends house last night and took my youngest daughter. She was invited to spend the night and she said she wanted to. After spending about 4 hours there I was getting ready to leave and I ask her if she was sure she wanted to spend the night. She said YES. I get home, get my sweats on (sorry guys, I sleep in sweats) and got in bed after chatting online with Schade a bit. I get a call and she wants me to come get her. I told her NO. I asked her several times if she wanted to spend the night and she told me yes and I am not about to let her think I am at her beck and call 24/7. She is almost 10 year old, not an infant. She has done this several times before but not too often. We have picked her up a couple of times when she claimed she was sick but other than that we have told her no.
I know for a fact that the majority of my helicopter mom friends would have picked up their kids. In fact, several of these little darlings have never spent the night at other kid's house EVER and they too are all the same age as Sarah. They have tried numerous times only for their parents to come "save" them at midnight (once at my house one of the little ****ers came into my bedroom and asked me to call her mom at 2 am) when they decide they don't want to spend the night. Am I a terrible Mom for making my kid stay and do what she said she wanted to do?
-
BEG, no I don't think that was the wrong thing to do. If I was lucky to be spending the night at a friend's house there was no way in hell I'd be calling my mom to go home. She's old enough to understand that she said she was staying and so she had to stay. If she was truly really sick (like vomiting) I'm sure the mom would have said something.

The kids in my circle of friends (and may I add so someone wont get mad at me "NOT EVERY KID") that wont spend the night seems to be the kids who don't have very much self-confidence. There is one in particular, her mother (who is a really good friend of mine) ALWAYS "saves" her. From EVERYTHING, from piano lessons because she thought she wasn't as good as the other kids, heck from every extracurricular activity that she has ever started....this year it is cheerleading that she is letting her quit, from school (arguing with the teacher about grades), from arguments with her friends (she always calls the Mom's if the kids get into a tiff) to the spending the night thing. I think they are doing more harm than good in my opinion.

I agree with your assessment. I just find it strange not wanting to stay the whole night at a friend's house. It was always such a treat to stay at my best friend's house, and she just lived down the street. And what the hell calling when the kids are having a tiff? :mental: Kids have tiffs! I would be mortified if my mom had called my best friend's mom over a little fight. Kids have arguments and they'll either make up and stay friends or move on, it's not the end of the world.

You did exactly what I would have done. It is an either/or situation. Either you are old enough to spend the night and therefore you do not call when you feel like going home. Or you simply do not spend the night, period.
I know several parents like the ones you describe. The worst part is these are the same parents who will let their married children live with them because they can't afford a house good enough or some other such bullshit. It is an enabling society that is coming out of this and it makes our children weak when they think mommy and daddy are going to save them every time they don't like something, or think something is "unfair".
My kids know the saying in our house well, "Life ain't fair, deal with it."

If it's any consolation, my television just died. It powers up, but that's it. No picture, nada.

Sigh.
We just had Tacos.
A *lot* of Tacos. :-)
Kids are watching Indiana Jones on the teebee and I am drinking coffee and digesting.
Ran some errands this afternoon and visited the missus at the hotel where she is working. Giggity.
I'm gonna watch a couple of Jimmy Stewart westerns after tucking the kids in tonight.
Happiness is an empty bowl of taco meat. :)

If you tried turning it on and off and hitting it really hard then I'm tapped out for suggestions to you.

Worked most of the day, then went this evening and got a manicure/pedicure. Happy feet and fingers. :-)
Had an incredibly busy week....a good work week....now, all they have to do is sell. Oh please, oh please.
Sparky....are you hooked up to Direct TV? Ours did that the other day.....the other half spent almost 2 hours on the phone with Direct and got it to work. Then it did it again yesterday....this morning ...it was fine.
We have one of Direct's HD/tivo thingies put on it. Have had trouble ever since. Direct said if it continues they will replace the box. :clueless:

Is it the silver box? We had to replace both of ours (DirectTV replaced them free but what a hassle).

Nope...it's a black box that when on, there's a blue neon circle on the front.
Our TV is only 5 years old....we've even had the Sansung repair guy here.

HD or standard?

I just fininshed watching "The Adventure of the Crooked Man". I don't normally watch Masterpiece Theater, but this was very good.

You and BEG are so right. I'm a recovering enabler. Sad but true. I too often bailed out one of my sons, and now I'm trying to correct my mistakes, just hope it's not too late.
BEG, hang in there. You'll never regret it.

Tacos sound like a good idea right now. I have a bunch of Chinese food from last night, though.
I don't normally make tacos, but a can of Ro-tel, a couple pounds of beef, some taco seasoning, diced tomatoes, and a little cheese might be pretty tasty.

I'm home again. My new boss (replacing the one who got sick, and is now working at the store closer to my apartment doing less strenuous work) is soon to be here, and sounds like she'll be pretty good. I tried getting my own mother to apply for the position so she could move down here (plenty of retail management experience), but she wouldn't. Said she'd favor me too much in giving me plenty of hours. :p :lmao:
I have to buy new work pants tomorrow. I slept in today after consuming 30 mL of NyQuil (that stuff makes me sleep for 12 hours) and just hung out until going to work. I'm wearing a size 3 right now (in Arizona jeans, the only brand that has suitable lengths for SHORT people).
My sis sent me some pics of the newest additions to the family ( the two baby Eclectus parrots)... I'll TRY to post them tomorrow, if I can get Photobucket to cooperate. They are cute and fuzzy little things right now, with some feathers.

What ever happened with that whole missing money thing with your college Republican organization?

The guy took off, and no one can find him, not even his now ex-employer. :( I've pretty much given up on ever getting the money back at this point. I'm considering an attempt to have some sort of bake-sale fundraiser to try to raise enough money for the semester. Otherwise, the group just won't be meeting as much. We've had one casual meeting in the Vice-Chairman's apartment this semester, but that's it.

Well that sucks. Karma can be a real bitch though...
Once the weather warms up, have a bikini car wash.

In Savannah, that weather will be coming along shortly. :lmao:
And I might consider that idea...there are about 8 active CR ladies (including myself) but if you guys want to see us, well, get your cars and trucks dirty and bring them on down to Savannah. :innocent:
But beware of the CR men (10 of them) they might not like strangers ogling "their" ladies. :uhsure:

I should of rented a movie, there is nothing on TV. All my channels seem really fuzzy tonight also.
In case I make it to red box (never used it before, want to try it) or to Hollywood Vid...what should I rent?

Nope--local cable. It's not displaying ANYTHING. It's not the cable since I had the computer on last night. I tried switching over to other items (DVD, Wii) but nothing appears on screen and no sound at all. It also takes a lot longer to power down when you hit the power button. Normally it's instantaneous, but now it takes 10-15 seconds from the time you hit the power button until it actually goes off. While it might be the built-in DVR (it's a 30GB hard drive built-in), I'm going to have to call someone out for repair. I just wish I had more options than Sears.
