I have a "sick" kid home with me today. The quotations are because he isn't horribly sick, just doesn't feel great. Get some tylenol in him and he's bouncing around like an ape, but once it wears off, he wilts. He came home from school early yesterday, too. Right now he's playing Super Smash Bros on the Wii. :whatever: Whatever...he's doing fine in school, and missing a day won't kill him.
Cold again today, but then we have a heat wave tomorrow and Friday...highs almost to 50...woot!
Making chili for dinner tonight, I think.
And if the sicko feels up to it, we might make some blueberry muffins later.

Sorry your little guy is illing Flame. :(
Warm today! Up in the 20's. We have early release from school today so the house apes are gettting home a little after 1pm today.
Our new family member slept all the way through the night last night without waking up and whining to be noticed. :)
She went the entire day with no accidents in the house and has learned about half a dozen voice commands which she follows pretty well when she remembers to. :-) Good Googa Mooga though, how such a tiny girl creature can generate so MUCH poop is beyond me, lol. What is really amazing is how strrong the instincts run. Yesterday she started playing "fetch". She brings the toys right back and waits for you to throw them again for her. Retrievers are thus pretty esy to keep occupied and get tired out.
I am dealing with a "Dumbass" injury right now. I refilled my zippo the day before last right before jumping in the car to run errands. I put my lighter in my shirt pocket and dropped it in upside down and a little fluid ran out and soaked through. Didn't notice it till after I got home and I have this silver dollar sized burn from the Naptha on my chest that blistered. :p Live and learn.

I've done that, but put the light in a pants pocket, and it left a red rash on my leg. I try to keep the pack between the lighter and me in the shirt pocket now.

Just took the boy to school.
Now I'm trying to get some work done, before my gorgeous, jaw-droppingly beautiful wife comes limping down the stairs looking for breakfast, and... (no she's not healthy enough for THAT; gitcher mind outa the gutter  )

I'm on a nice, late afternoon lunch, after wrapping up a meeting.
Disturbingly, after leaving a restaurant, I noticed a owl embedded in the grill of a large GMC tuck parked next to be! It was giant too and thankfully fully intact albeit unfortunately quite dead.

I've literally spent all day dealing with corporate bureaucracy.
Gawd.
Can't wait till FINAL retirement.......

We've got a good sized barn owl that hunts the fields around our house. We hear him/her and a fairly large pack of coyotes pretty much every night. (My animals don't go out after we go to bed at night, so there's no potential for the coyotes to attack or cause problems.)
Gawd, I love living out in the boonies. :II:

Glad to hear that about Pepper the pooch. It's nice to get some sleep! I have to h-5 you again on the tip to bite down a little on Belle's throat. I had to do it again last night, but I have to say that for the first time after having tried lots of tips and tricks to get her to stop nipping/biting, your tip works best so far.
It looks like it'll get to a point where she won't even go there. And that's the goal, of course. :cheersmate:

Dealing with this bureaucratic nightmare:
Manufacturers may elect to test additional randomly chosen
engines. All additional randomly chosen engines tested in accordance with the testing procedures
specified in Emission Standards and Test Procedures must be included in the Sample Size and
Cumulative Sum equation calculations as defined in section (b), respectively.
(K) Small volume manufacturers may limit the number of engines tested
to one percent of their California production. Compliance would be determined based on the
available test data.
(5) The manufacturer must produce and assemble the test engines using its
normal production and assembly process for engines to be distributed into commerce.
(6) No quality control, testing, or assembly procedures will be used on any test
engine or any portion thereof, including parts and subassemblies, that have not been or will not be
used during the production and assembly of all other engines of that family, unless the Executive
Officer approves the modification in production or assembly procedures.
(c) Calculation of Cumulative Sum (CumSum) Statistic. Each engine manufacturer
must review the test results using the following procedure:
(1) Manufacturers must construct the following CumSum equation for each
regulated pollutant for each engine family. Test results used to calculate the variables in the
CumSum Equation must be final deteriorated test results as defined in (d) (3).
C = max[0 OR (C + X - (STD + F))] i i-1 i
Where:
C = The current CumSum statistic i
C = The previous CumSum statistic. Prior to any testing, the CumSum statistic i-1
= 0 (i.e. C = 0) 0
X = The current emission test result for an individual engine i
STD = Emission standard
F = 0.25 × F
(2) After each test, C is compared to the action limit, H, the quantity which i
the CumSum statistic must exceed, in two consecutive tests, before the engine family may be
determined to be in noncompliance for purposes of paragraph (c).
H = The Action Limit. It is 5.0 × F, and is a function of the standard deviation,
F.
F = is the sample standard deviation and is recalculated after each test

Got the day off, so just been relaxing mostly. Got our membership at Sams Club today and bought a few things.
Wifes got a dental appointment soon, so I'll be home with the kid. Probably will just play a few video games to pass the time.

I've been home today, as my daughter was nice enough to give me something Monday, I think. It was her stomach bug. I made it through work yesterday, and went to the "second job" (keeping the clock for a local Catholic hugh school, where I graduated from a loooong time ago). My stomach was feeling unsettled. It soon became apparent that I had something wrong internally, but I hung around until the end of the first half of the JV boys' game, because my relief wasn't there yet. I waved goodbye and headed home. Got right into bed. 11:15PM, it was confirmed that I had a stomach problem. :puke: Had to fight off "lower intestinal" issues all night, and all day. My daughter has been raising Hell over the fact that she wants milk to drink, yet she brings it back up a short time later. I've had five Ritz crackers, three glasses of water, two pieces of dry toast, two de-carbonated Diet Coke +es, and two glasses of white grape juice. I'm feeling as if there's something going on south of the mouth, and I'm gonna cut this one here.
Other than that, things are going great. :-)

Put an invoice together for a client who is a jackass. Since they seem to always know more than me I decided NOT to give them a price break on 5,000 instead of the 1,000 pieces they ordered before. If you threaten me as a lower level when I have a deal going with the owner, your department will get screwed. I'll screw you and smile all the way to the bank. Oh and if if one their project managers decides to be all condescending and treating me like I don't know what I am talking about again, I'll forward the email to BOTH partners next time. That way the department manager will get chewed out as well as the project manager.
I deal with entirely too many men who have huge egos and nothing to back them up. If you are going to be a d*ck you better have the balls to back it up. Otherwise I'll put it in the vice when I casually speak to the partners when they ask me how specific projects are going.
Oh I had a "friend" tell me today that she has deliberated and feels that we can no longer be friends because I don't text or contact her enough. Uhhh...yeah okay...BUH BYE! (I don't deal with dramatic over-emotional women. LOL)
Oh and my oldest decided that he wanted to pick up 90 pieces of paper he had laid out on the floor BEFORE going to school. Which resulted in me driving him down there and missing my appointment with my trainer. Oh well, I'll just do double squats tomorrow. LOL
Other than that it has been a good day. I think I'm going to lock the kids up and go get a pedicure. :-)

While working today I was listening to my XM radio to one of the "non-commercial" channels. The ran a commercial saying that there will be DVD's for sale for those who were unable to attend one of the numerous Inauguration Balls yesterday. This would enable more people to "participate" is such an historic day. :whatever: yadda, yadda, yadda, gush, gush, gush.
The commercial was followed by a song: "Back Stabbers" by the O'Jays. :rotf:
(What they do!)
(They smile in your face)
All the time they want to take your place
The back stabbers (back stabbers)

I've honestly never seen one that close before! So it was a pretty wild sight for me.
Rock on for living the dream :cheersmate:

My girls were sick yesterday so I took them to the doctor. It ended up being a sinus infection but their main complaint was that their throats hurt. They both had ortho appointments this morning at 8:15 & 8:30. I'm always making these early morning doctor appointments and not thinking. :thatsright: It would normally take me about 20-30 minutes to get there but during rush hour traffic it take a lot longer.
I then came home after dropping them off at school and I started feeling all sickly. I think I'm coming down with whatever my kids have. My husband is going to be late tonight, he had to stay at work to finish up some stuff. He has to go to El Segundo VERY early tomorrow morning then he is going to meet with Disney on friday.
I received an email from him earlier today. He got to pick out something for his 15 year anniversary with the company and he asked me if I wanted this purse:

He said when he was looking at all the stuff he could pick from he saw the purse and thought I would like it. Do I have the most wonderful husband in the world or what?!?

Yes you do. He's definitely a keeper. :-)
Hope you feel better and are just tired and don't have the bug. Be sure to get a lot of rest.

It has that funky old-car smell. Not as nice as the new-car smell. I needs to pick up a box of dryer sheets to deodorize it. If you've never tried it, an unopened box of dryer sheets will dedorize your car in about a day and a half. It's good for a couple months of odor-free motoring. (You'll eventually have to open it, but it works).

I don't like the new-car smell all that much. When I picked up the 6 after it being cleaned and detailed at the dealer, I KNEW they had put some of that strong air freshener made to try to add to the new smell... *gag* My car is better off smelling like a flower, anyway. I might have to try the dryer sheet thing, though, as I have smokers riding in my car sometimes (don't tell my mom that I allowed that, but I was giving co-workers a ride home. ).
-
The air freshener the dealer puts in isn't a "new car smell". That smell is the VOC's evaporating from the plastic and glue in the car.
My car smells like leather that's been baking in the sun and has absorbed 25 years of farts.

I don't know, given that the car was used, I figured they chose to enhance it with a lovely can of "new-car" scented air-freshener. *shrugs* I just know that the smell was especially strong for a used vehicle (given that I'd been looking at other similar used cars and none smelled quite like what this car smelled like :o).
I don't worry about it much anymore. The car smells all girly now (translation: honeysuckle), so I'm happy. :p

Well, my happy day gets ruined by laundry duties. Feh. I'll need to get the car registered since it's got Antique tags that I can't use.
I won't be able to drive it until then unless the Department of Safety gives me a temporary tag when I apply for my plates. I thought they only did that at dealerships? I need to swap out a few small parts before I can run it through an emissions test.

I've found that lavender (Publix or Kroger generic brand) is one of the nicer ones. I try to stick with that one.

I hate that shit. :evillaugh:
Today I worked till 7 PM then I went to Smith's for some grocery shopping. Had a roasted chicken for dinner.
Sorta felt crappy this morning before work, and finally quit coughing up stuff long enough to get ready for work. Been up late at night studying for a class that I am taking on Saturdays in Las Vegas. It's work related and there is money on the table that I am trying to grab.
Freaking complex math formulas and my 40 year old migrane prone brain are not getting along.
I use alot of math at work already (in my job, math mistakes kill people) but this is mostly a 9 month certificate program crammed into 16 hours of class..with alot of studying that leads up to a nat'l certification.
Time to hit the books till about 3 AM or so....

You know why men like women who wear leather ?
Smell like new cars :-)
