Title: Grace and class, to the end.

I'm proud to have called this man our president for 8 years.

Bush is welcomed home to Texas (http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090121/D95RGIAG0.html)

WACO, Texas (AP) - After an enthusiastic welcome from thousands of cheering Texans in two cities, George W. Bush spent his first night out of office at his Crawford ranch.

Before flying in a helicopter to his 1,600-acre ranch, the former president told about 3,000 well-wishers gathered at a Waco airfield Tuesday night that he was glad to be back in Texas.

"It is a great day because we got to come home once and for all," Bush, with former first lady Laura Bush at his side, said as the crowd cheered.

_____

A couple of my favorite quotes form the story:

He lauded those who helped throughout his presidency and defended decisions he said some thought unwise.

"I never took an opinion poll to tell me what to think," Bush said.

and:
"She filled the White House with warmth and my life with joy," Bush said. "History will show that she was a fabulous first lady."

I've have had many, many--MANY--policy disagreements with Bush over the years but he has cared about America's security first and every once and a while he got the right call vis-a-vis taxes.

And he as always been a statesman.

*salute*

I can't say too much about George Bush--his integrity, his principles, his courage, his steadfast fortitude when faced with so many who live just to Hate.

I'd have gotten the pilot of Marine One to fly me over the crowd and given them a shot of my bare-naked ass.  :evillaugh:

And all the fags in the crowd would have "saluted"....they've never had a real man before.

And his lovely, gracious wife was a First Lady of the first order.  Not like that cow Hillary.

What amazes me most is that he never took revenge against his critics, and never even expressed a desire to do so. Personally, I would have been angry a thousand times over.
