32 degrees and it's snowing. :censored: winter.
At least with a holiday traffic was very light this morning. Gubmint offices and schools are closed.
Waddya got planned for your last day of freedom?
-
No freedom here--at work. 12-hour shifts for the next two weeks.
-
8 degrees here this morning with a little fresh snow on the ground overnight.
-
7 degrees here in God's Icebox.
Gotta sky out for the vet's office here in a bit. Shots for the kitties and shots for the new puppers.
I might actually get to do something fun today in between taking care of the dog. I swear to God it is almost as bad as having a new human baby in the house, lol.

A totally BLAH Monday here in Maryland.
Our household suffered great defeat over the weekend with the game losses of the Eagles and Ravens (so much to the dismay of Sparky and formerlurker, Red and I will not be divorcing over a Eagles/Ravens Superbowl this year.)
The girl child brought home germs from school, so we all have bad headcolds and body aches. Yay.
We suffered through the arctic freeze of last week only to be hit by our first snowfall of the winter today. My two year old could have done a better job predicting the weather than our local meteorologists' forecast ,which only claimed "light flurries with no accumulation". There's about an inch out there already, and it's only been snowing for an hour. :thatsright:
Taking the little boy to the doctor this afternoon to have a lump on his chest checked out. I discovered it yesterday afternoon and it has me quite concerned.

Yeah, I learned not too long ago that bit about pups and new human babies and how they're similar. Gotta take a diaper bag with you when the pup goes. You know, so it can hold the toys, treats, food, water dishes, along with headache pills.

It's snowing here!!! :-) Ground is covering up, but the streets are just wet.
Been working all morning....can't do much else. We have water heated floors on the main level, heated by this furnace-type hot water heater. M said when he went to shower the hot water gave out. :censored: :censored: I've been waiting for it to happen as cold as it's been and nothing's gone wrong with it for the last 2 years. We were having trouble with the circuit boards having some issue and the ignitor....and it was all replaced in early 2006 and again in 2007. Only one repair company that we know about, and usually the part has to be ordered... :censored: :censored:

It's been sunny and reasonably warm all day (it's now circa 2:30 p.m. central time, 1:30 p.m. mountain time), and the snow's starting to erode.
The problem being, there's a lot of snow, because the temperature was rarely above freezing (32 degrees) between December 3 and January 12, and those days it was, it snowed more (yes, it can snow when the temperature is above 32 degrees).
If it's left alone, and nature cooperates by not interfering, one can actually detect snow from one snowfall, as compared with another snowfall; the snow's layered, with distinctive layers. The south side of the William Rivers Pitt, when examined last week, showed 22 distinctive layers.
The Sandhills of Nebraska are supposed to get more snow on Thursday and Friday, but it appears we're getting back to a normal winter, and so it won't be so bad, lows in the 20s and highs in the 40s, maybe 50s.
I went to the big city this morning, as the cold continues, to see the physician, a dematologist, in his capacity as my "general practice" physician. The weekend of Thanksgiving, I came down with pneumonia, bacteria-inspired. This cold appears to be virus-inspired, and so there's not a whole lot one can do about, other than spending 12-16 hours a day in bed, reading light matter, the hot-water vaporizer putting out like a steam locomotive, a couple of aspirin, orange juice and water in copious amounts and coffee and milk in mildly moderate amounts.
It's a good thing I work at my own rate, rather than holding down an 8-5 job; the work is piling up, but I have until April 15, so I can take it slow and easy getting back to prime condition, without use of chemical drugs.
But much more important than my own travails, I hope it pleases God that Scoobie's son turns out okay.
Man, I dislike to whine.

Spent the day at the mall with the kiddos, (and my daughter's friend). We drove to a "real" mall, so it was kinda cool, to look different stores. Had to be back in time for dance otnight, or we probably would have gone a couple other places.
Plan on not turning the TV on tomorrow at all, unless it's to turn on the Wii.

If my TV goes on at all tomorrow, it'll be on Noggin for The Heiress, or it'll be on for my PS2. 'Course, my wife may accidentally turn it on.

I had the privilege of taking part in something really cool today. One of my co-workers is a reservist in the Marines. He retired after 20 years of service this month. 25 of us took up a collection and bought him an AR-15, case, rear sight, lots of ammo, and six magazines. You don't see a "gunny" get "misty" very often. It was an excellent way to end an otherwise cr*ppy day.

Well, crap. I'm getting sick. I'm now sneezing, coughing and the back of my throat is sore.
I just took some Nyquil, so I'll pass out and hopefully this will knock this right out.

Sounds like what I've had for the last few weeks on and off... a cold. Right now, I'm in the stuffy nose/coughing phase, and NyQuil (along with the steroid nasal spray and amoxicillin (for a related infection)) has been my medicine of choice to knock me out so I'm not miserable and awake the whole night. I seem to be on the upswing, though. Hope you feel better soon.

Very proud of you guys doing that for him.
Your day was better than mine. I sell to government accounts, so no one was "home". I spent a bit of time at the mall. Haven't been shopping for a while, so picked up some bargains.

Dang. They took my internet access away at work. Now I have to be productive and shit. I have the entire weekend off, so I guess that's okay.
-
Noooooooooooooooooooooo :(
-
They erased everything. I lost my personal drive in the data center (everyone gets one), all my email, database access.

That's harsh. They're probably checking us, but I rarely do anything on the boards from work, and generally, if I do, only on my lunch hour. It's not worth taking chances.
That's really tough for you, though. Sounds like they went overboard in their zeal.

No, I was actually laid off from my job on Tuesday. They processed the termination same as everyone else's. I got a call on Friday afternoon and was back at my job on Monday morning. I just have new, crappy hours (1-9:30pm) instead of the cushy 8:30-5 schedule. We lost at least two other people in my department because they didn't want to work those hours. My choice was work their schedule or stay unemployed.

So sorry to hear that. I guess in the grand scheme of things, that the email thing isn't all that much. Glad that they called you back. It could be worse. I remember when a lady that volunteered at the zoo with me was in a pitched battle with the good old US Post Office. She had been there for many years. They wanted her gone. They kept sticking her with the worst shifts. They'd switch her from the day to the midnight shift, playing with her sleep cycles. She fought for quite a while, but finally gave in and retired.
These are rough times (understatement of the year). Hang in there.
