Title: Klingon keyboard goes on sale in Britain

The keyboard has been designed for the thousands of science fiction fans who have learned to talk and write in the alien language, which is spoken by the Klingon warrior race.

Klingonese, as it is known, was devised in 1984 for a film spin-off of the popular Star Wars television series by linguist Marc Okrand and is reportedly the most widely-spoken fictional language in the world.

Texts including the Bible and the works of Shakespeare have been translated into Klingon, and speakers have even formed their own organisation, the Klingon Language Institute.

The keyboard features the spidery, curving characters of the "pIqaD" alphabet, which was created to to replicate the symbols on the side of Klingon ships. However, some Klingon enthusiasts prefer to write in the Latin alphabet used for European languages on Earth.

Michael Groom of Cherry Electrical Products, which has created the keyboard, said that the firm planned to build computer accessories for other languages spoken in the Star Trek universe. ...

I like 'Trek, and speak a pretty decent Klingon, but I'll keep the Klingon true-type fonts, and pass on the klingon keyboard this time.
