What a frightfully unproductive day. I've been reading a book today and suddenly realized that about 60% of the day had just gone bye-bye.
I gotta go pick up the Mancub at school in 50 minutes.
Good book though and God knows I don't want to be outside today. It's Cooooooooold out there today. We got about four inches of snow last night too.
-
Oh.
It's afternoon.
Despite the clocks, one forgets what time of the day it is, or even if it's day or night, because it doesn't make any difference; the whole world is white, from the top of the sky to the bottom of the ground, and there appears no relief in sight yet.
Not even the top of a fence post to stick out in the whiteness.
In the sod house frontier days, people actually used to go mad in cases like this.
Stark raving mad.
Of course, I'm not locked in, and have been to town several times--driving using the Braille system--and so there's little or no fear I'll go stark raving mad.
But it is, to say the least, muchly aggravating.

Not a bad day around here...trying something new for dinner tonight, so I'm curious to see what the reviews from the
brats, um, I mean, kids are.
Looking forward to a trip to Lowes tonight...buying 2x4s and sheet-rock. Hoping to have most of the basement framed by the end of the weekend, then we gotta mess with electric.
Might snow tonight, but probably not. And more of chance of snow tomorrow night. Of course this is the week we will get bad weather, as it's semester exams for the next 3 days.
-
The last "warm" day (read: above freezing) for the foreseeable future. It's gonna suck come Thursday and Friday, kids.
On a brighter note, got my work and that of one of my missing co-workers done today. Doc appt. in an hour, where I'll be told (again) that I'm too fat, my blood sugar, blood pressure, etc., are too high.

I had forgotten what happens being around school children and teachers....they carry germs.
Slept 3 hours yesterday from 9:30 to 12:30, fell asleep again around 8 and woke up about 9:30, went to sleep again about 12:30am and slept off and on until 11 this morning.....and still have a headache from hell, stuffy nose and slight sore throat.
And I get to spend time with them again tomorrow afternoon. Love them, but hope they decide on a house soon.
And the temperature is dropping.....but the weekend we are to be around 11 degrees. Hellooooooooo, I live in the South!
Al Gore has not been seen around Nashville lately....wonder where he's hiding? :loser:

Ehh, I'm about to leave work, which is good.
And I really really hate team projects. Yesterday in my Excel class we had a team assignment (which she announced last Wed). The two guys didn't even show up. Then I started typing everything in, and one girl was too busy messing around with Facebook to help and the other girl was busy text messaging the whole time. :censored:
We didn't finish during class, and it's due tomorrow morning at 8am. Well, Facebook girl said she'd look at it yesterday afternoon, which she didn't do. So last night I finished up everything on it except one function which I can't get right. So I uploaded what I did and emailed (and posted in the group discussion board) that that's what I had done and did anyone know how to do the last formula? Well, no one's replied. :banghead:
I've asked a good friend to look at it and tell me if he knows how to do it. The good thing, is that the ultimate grade is based off your peer review and I'm not going to rate them very highly. I had emailed the professor to ask if I could turn it in with Excel 2003 (we use 2007 in class) and she said yes "but remember it's a group project and everyone needs to contribute." I wrote back that I've asked them for help and haven't heard from anyone so far.
Oh and in my other class that has a group project, this one girl was supposed to divide things up last Wednesday and email everyone, and then she hyper-extended her knee on Thursday. Apparently that means you cannot spend 10 minutes with a book at a computer to email people either. So, I did that yesterday after class.
Stupid team projects. And on top of it all, I feel some sort of sickness coming on, there's more sneezing and coughing involved and I just hope it goes away in a day or so.

Working on an air powered hot melt pump system. This thing is nearly 20 years old, but the parts are still available. Yippie........

Like Mia, gettin' ready to leave work.
The puppy got her dew claws removed today, which means she'll be a conehead when she gets home in a few minutes. (Mrs. E's picking her up.)
I have a meeting tonight at church at 7 p.m.
No time for PT, dammit.

THAT is my definition of a good book. I didn't do much today. The usual work stuff, and I cleaned up the ex-network admin's desk. I should get a freakin' medal.
I have lots of free time now. Wheee.
-
Well, the good news, I figured out the correct formula for my project. With no help from any of my team members. Bastards. My professor is in the loop on what happened, so she'll understand why I'm gonna screw them on the peer evaluation.

I suggest three weeks of beer and internet porn followed by a three day scaramble through the classifieds. :-)

I'll probably do the opposite. That quickie scrable through the classifieds usually results in a lousy job. I have some time yet.
Crap... my electric bill is three times higher than normal. Freakin' cold weather. Meh... it's still cheaper than gas. :)

It's supposed to be ten degrees on Thursday! I need to move to the equator. :p

Yeah, that never works. At least it didn't for me. I was in a group of four people that was supposed to use a computer lab to set up a medium-sized business office (complete with departments, users, UNIX/Oracle/Exchange servers... the whole nine yards). Me and the other guy got zero help and spent the four hours before class working on our entire presentation. It blew. But the documentation and infrastructure was perfect.

But the grading is good. The prof will grade the project as a whole. BUT the team members get to grade each other. We have 100 pts and 5 members, so if everyone gives each other 20 pts, you get 100% of the grade she gave you. But for instance, I'm giving one dude a zero (he missed the last team assignment too), so if we all give him a zero he gets a zero. So, I think what I'm going to do is 0 for one dude, 15 pts/each for the other 3 and the rest to myself. I did the bulk of the work anyways. :)
Oh and if you get over 100 pts from your team, your grade is higher than what she graded the project at.
The thing is, that most of the basic Excel stuff I know already. So, when we're in class I try and say "So, Erica what do you think? Should we do this or that?" Even the whole project, it was only 1 formula that I couldn't figure out forever, but the rest was simple to do.

Mia, I'm dealing with a similar POTENTIAL problem in my Physical Environment lab. For each individual lab we do, it must have a typed lab report to go with it. As I have a tendency to do this anyway, I quietly observed all the people in my group, and given their attitudes and comments in response to what the professor explained, I'll likely be the one doing most, if not all, the work. :censored:
Day 2 of back-to-school. So far, so good. I think my Physical Environment lecture and lab will be the toughest (even more so than Anatomy and Physiology 2), but I'll be okay. I spoke to the professor of my Medical Terminology online course, and it turns out that she's also my advisor for the CR's. So she'll probably be expecting more out of the chairwoman (me) than anyone else in the class. :lmao: :o

That would explain the lack of hot air lately...but not to worry, our state congress critters started this years session with a bang. The dems nominated and got elected a repub speaker of the house. This year's gonna be interesting.

I had the day off. Temps have been higher then average, and today we broke 70.
I had some neck & shoulder therapy and a deep tissue massage...it all sent my back into spasm a couple hours later.
Big Pharm invented Lortab for a reason....it's working.

It's gonna be ten degrees here on Thursday. Yeah, it bears repeating. wtf?? :mental:
It got down to single digits here a couple years ago. I could feel my skin freezing.
-
I pushed the mower 'round the yard this morning. 0900 it was 33 deg C @ 70%RH.
Glad I only have to do that once a week.

Yeah, I seen people mowing today.

I'd suggest a robotic mower (like the Roomba), but I think LC EFA's yard is a little bigger than that.

It's not all that big (1/4 acre block) , but all the trees and garden beds , boats , construction debris and the like make it a bit more technical.
They also ensure I go through mower blades at a astonishing rate.

You'd hate living anywhere near me when it's dry. My mower picks up dust and powdered grass and spews it out in a thick cloud that blankets everything nearby.
-
I have allergy medication, but do not think that I need to protect myself from hayfever in January!
But yes, dry dust and wind is bad....we had wind a few days ago and I was all congested.
