Title: Florida home for BadCat...
Post by: Chris_ on January 07, 2009, 06:13:49 PM
I got my new issue of Sarasota Magazine in the mail today and I always like to read about the real estate available.

I found a house for BadCat.

http://www.jimsoda.com/RealEstate/Property/ViewDetails.visient/State/FL/County/Manatee/City/Bradenton/propertyid/388765 (http://www.jimsoda.com/RealEstate/Property/ViewDetails.visient/State/FL/County/Manatee/City/Bradenton/propertyid/388765)

Make sure you checkout the pool pic.  :-)

It's a steal at $1,775,000...

Hmmmm.

I wonder how that would look, placed in the middle of a ranch for bison, in the Sandhills of Nebraska, after I win the Powerball lottery.

On second thought, nah.

There hasn't been any good architecture since the Tudors.

Darn, I thought maybe there were boobies by the pool. (http://images.visient.com/MLSPhoto.aspx?&b=FL-SAR60&m=A383893&p=2&w=98&h=69) There might be, but my eyes aren't that good.

I am still periodically contemplating building me an adobe home here in the Mesquite patch of central Texas. Thing is I can't build it,so that's a bummer. Another is I would never be able to sell  it , if the mood strikes me,and recoup my investment. Then again I suppose if It has enough bedrooms and a mongo Kitchen I could sell it as a B & B.

Build residential then go for the rezone and sell it as commercial. That's the ticket  :hyper:

Central Texas?  You could run it as part of the underground railroad for illegals going north.  :-)

Central Texas Housing authority got them covered.

Only $20 million, but it's fee simple.  And I've vacationed near here, so I could deal with this place...

11 brs and 8 ba in 6662 sf?  Either the brs aren't very big....or the rest of the rooms are very very small.
$2927.00/ sf....wow. :o

You are looking at it as a Conventional real estate sale. Sale not financing. The stratospheric priced properties are more about glitz & glamour and hey look at me & what I got then normal mkt value. Usually folks that can pay millions for a house don't give a hoot about value,it's about wether they like it or not. Sometimes they don't even need to like it it's just located in the right area. But you are right about room sizes for the number of rooms tucked into that sq footage.

It's only nine grand a month.  You can swing it. :-)

It's certainly a nice place, but come on, it's in FLORIDA.
Or should I call it "San Francisco Southeast"?

Hey, it even has an elevator for when you and Mrs. BadCat can't climb steps anymore.

I know where that development is, it's nice.

That was with $355K down and didn't include taxes or insurance. :-)

Probably not much difference than a conventional home, really.  I've got 3 br, 2 1/2 ba in 1900 sq. ft., so putting 8 more average (12 X 15) bedrooms in only results in another 1500 sq ft., give or take.  So even another 1000 square feet for 5 more bathrooms and you're still only up to about 4500 square feet.

And as far as price per square foot, we're talking over 2 acres of Maui waterfront--you were expecting 100K for that?

Here's something a little closer to your price range.  Water views, not waterfront, but you get the idea.  Oh, and it's close to Roy's Kahana (yum...).

I remember when they were building this development.  Damn it got expensive all of a sudden.

You'd think they'd at least show the square footage on this house. Looks like those outrageous prices in Florida are starting to go down a bit.

I suspect that guitar pool will sort of limit the appeal of the place. But if they gave it to me, I'd put up with it.  :-)

I was surprised they didn't have the price either.

On the other hand....I thought it was a fairly reasonable price for what it appears to be....

I know what a 1600 sf waterfront condo used to sell for in Key West....comparatively ....the house seems to be a pretty good deal....even with the gee-tar pool.

From what I understand it's gayer, but has more class.  :p

I'm not all that impressed with the kitchen.  In a house in that price range you would think it would be more impressive.

You'd still look good in there.

I don't think even having me stand in that kitchen would make it look like it belonged in a $1.7 million dollar home.   :p  :-)

Just remember, it would always be a cat house.
