What is the worst thing invented by mankind?
For me the answer is easy: religion is the worst thing invented by mankind.
:whatever:

The atom bomb is probably the worst.
Biological weapons after that.

6. What do you suppose is the motivation behind
why those things are largely used in the first place?

32. Usually political goals.

Power and money.
If they were truly religious motivations, far more people would be involved.

39. Manipulation.
Far more than just religion. I'm not saying religion is a wonderful thing or anything. I'm a pretty ardent atheist myself. But people have a tendency to overstate the negative influence of religion I think. There's a whole lot more to the story than "Religion is bad." Yes, religion is exploited for nefarious ends, but that's like saying cars are bad because they're how robbers flee a crime scene. Religion has equal potential for good or bad, it's all dependent upon how people use it. My argument is that there are positive uses for religion, and as such, I don't see it as the worst thing mankind has ever created.

48. "positive uses"
So it is okay to lie to people and make them think they are going to hell because of positive uses. What a devastating admission. I got news for you. People don't need to be manipulated into doing the right thing. It is only by teaching that the wrong thing is holy that religion has any use.

62. Mine is not "kneejerk" religion bashing.
I've spent decades observing religion's harmful effects on multiple aspects of society.
Religion can be more complicated, but I don't think you can dispute the basic premise of an all-powerful god being responsible for both good and bad. Therefore, if you buy into this particular mythology, you have to conclude that an all-powerful god does a lot of ****ed-up stuff.

I have but one question for these "Darwin is the utmost prolific expert"!
If that is the case, why is it after millions of years the Dino's controlled the earth, they never, ever, evolved to the point they could control the earth as we do? I mean, we have been around for less than a few thousand years, yet we have invented everything from 'puters to the toothpicks!
Why in the hell after MILLIONS of years didn't the dinos figure out how to add???????????

When you eat what you should add, numbers can get a bit muddled.
