EPA 'Cow Tax' Could Charge $175 per Dairy Cow to Curb Greenhouse Gases
Call this one of the newest and innovative the ways your government has come up with to battle greenhouse gas emissions.
Indirectly it could be considered a cheeseburger tax, but one of the suggestions offered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in its Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) for regulating greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act is to levy a tax on livestock.
The ANPR, released early this year, would give the EPA the authority to regulate greenhouse gas for not only greenhouse gas from manmade sources like transportation and industry, but also “stationary†sources which would include livestock.
The New York Farm Bureau assigned a price tag to the cost of greenhouse gas regulation by the EPA in a release last month.
“The tax for dairy cows could be $175 per cow, and $87.50 per head of beef cattle. The tax on hogs would upwards of $20 per hog,†the release said. “Any operation with more than 25 dairy cows, 50 beef cattle or 200 hogs would have to obtain permits.â€

The other half drinks milk and has it in his cereal, I only use it for cooking, and rarely do I drink any...but we still go through about two gallons a week.
I can't imagine the cost if my 2 kids were still at home, because they have always been big milk drinkers, particularly my son.
I used to always buy the local dairy milk, but started buying whatever the store brand is, back in the early fall. He says he can't tell the difference. I know there is a difference in the chocolate milk (which I will drink) because I can get the store brand in 2% rather than the dairy brand which is only whole milk. I buy 2% white milk and there doesn't seem to be a difference.
Does anybody else notice a difference?

Any bets on where PETA stands on this?

Okay first of all, having grown up on a dairy farm, I for the life of me cannot figure out where the cows are going to keep their wallets. Secondly, without opposable thumbs they aren't going to be able to use a checkbook or sign a credit card receipt.
Now granted, the wallets would be genuine leather. Which brings us to another issue, where would PETA stand on the whole leather wallet issue? Wouldn't the money procured from the cows then be tainted? Do we want tainted cow money in our financial system? What if I give my child the change back from the grocery store and unknowingly give her tainted cow tax money? Could she get mad cow disease? And how angry would she get?
Its just not going to work people...

And you don't even need to feed 'em Alka Seltzer?

Is anyone else wondering how this tax is going to curb cows from farting, or otherwise reduce greenhouse gasses, other than to drive down the number of cows a farmer can afford to keep? (In turn, driving up the price of meat and milk products, causing people to turn vegan, which will increase the amount of human fartage.)

That is the goal of the GlowBull warmers. They desire to even out standards of living,comfort/diet among all nations. They don't intend to elevate everyone else to our standards, just take us down to their standards. Less meat and dairy, more vegetables and fish. They won't be happy until the entire planet is like the 3rd world countries of today.

An $80/head tax on beef cattle and a $.10 per gallon increase in gas taxes oughta pretty well take offset the Big Zero's "Tax cut" and "Rebate/Refund" part of the ol' shell game.

What the Vegans fail to admit or are too stupid to realize is that the industrialized farming of vegetables creates more than it's fair share of greenhouse gases. What are they going to do?? Make everybody grow their own veggies and force them to hand pick and hand cultivate their gardens?? So much for grocery stores....... :whatever:

Well, if everyone has to grow their own, then liberals will have to move out of the high density cities and into the open country, where eventually they will become...... CONSERVATIVES. :o
