well, judging from her interviews with the media last week, her habit of using "you know" or "ummmm" every other word could come in useful during filibusters.
so, al franken, caroline kennedy . . . anyone see the pattern here? for that matter, you could throw in the election of The BarackStar! and still discern a disturbing democrat habit of mind.
NY Governor May Be Leaning Toward Kennedy
Sources Close to Paterson Say Kennedy is the Governor's Choice for Clinton's Senate Seat
Officials say the daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy will be the governor's choice to fill the New York Senate seat being vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Two people close to Gov. David Paterson tell The Associated Press they believe Caroline Kennedy will be his choice, but the governor cautions he's still looking.
The New York Times reports that during a New Year's Day open house at the executive mansion, Paterson said "It ain't nothin' till I calls it." The quote recalls a statement once made by legendary baseball umpire Bill Klem.
Meantime, despite early reservations, New York state's most powerful legislative leader tells the New York Post he'll support Kennedy. State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver says he'll work for her election.
Paterson has sole authority to name a replacement for the next two years. Under state law, there would be an election to fill the last two years in 2010.

We should just cancel Election Day and put them all on 'American Idol'. It couldn't get any worse. :whatever:

I can't wait to see her financial records.

The loony left MSM had the audacity to say Sarah Palin was unqualified (unjustly), yet they have no problem being a cheerleading squad for someone whose crowning achievement is editing a book of poems her Mom might have liked for Senator.
The inmates are running the asylum.

Is Gov. Patterson leaning towards this decision o being arm twisted into it?

He can't see where the pressure is coming from.
(Sorry, couldn't resist. I know, I'm going to hell now.)

A shot of leg or a million dollars and you to can be a Senator.

Yes. Money also helps, though Paterson is smart enough not to pull a Blago.

Last I heard, the Kennedy nomination was dead. Anybody hear anything new on this?

I think her supporters were jumping off the bandwagon last week, and this week, the wheels have pretty much come off the bandwagon. no telling what patterson will do, though. and although the bottom has fallen out of her poll numbers, it appears that most of the dems are petrified of saying anything ill of the daughter of JFK.
she would be a lousy candidate in an actual election. the republicans probably wouldn't mind running against her.

Hillary still hasn't resigned her senate seat and won't do so until she is confirmed as Secretary of State.
-
Okay, I know Hillary has not yet officially resigned, but shouldn't Patterson have reached a decision by now? How long has it been? Or is he holding out for the best deal?

Patience, Sam. The dealmaking vetting isn't quite done yet.

The crazier and more unqualified their candidates or appointment picks are, the better for us in the long run. Take solace in the big picture view of it all.
-
I can't agree with that. They seem to feel now that they are now the leaders in a one party state. They wouldn't be making these picks otherwise.

I suppose it all comes down to how much damage you think they can do, and how fast. My point of view is that it is better in the long run for them to come out of the gate as handicapped as possible and ultimately deliver us a higher level of damage to the nation while they are in charge, but as a result deal themselves out quicker so that the total damage at the next turn of the worm is less, and has less institutionalized inertia to undo.

I know why you say that, and on one level I agree, but people like Caroline Kennedy are may be voting on whether we should go to war with Iran or China someday. It would be nice if she had more to base her decision on than her last name.
Likewise, the new CIA chief may be in a position to prevent a mushroom cloud over a major US city. It would be nice if he had more experience then the average White House chief of staff and congressman when the intelligence report comes across his desk.

Carter was a one-termer, and look at the damage we're STILL suffering because of him.
2010 can't come fast enough.
