U2--Favorite. Band. EVAR.

Sort of quiet, anyway. As the weatherman predicted, it was quite gusty last night. I got home about 7 PM, and it was 15 degrees. At 7 AM this morning, it was -2 F, with a wind chill of -24 F, lower if you counted the 40 mph gusts. Now it's about +2, and the wind seems to have died down a bit. Time to brush the snow out of the driveway and start again. Fortunately we didn't get as much as the southern border area, but still enough to make driving fun today. More snow tomorrow and Saturday, so I might just blow off doing the driveway until after that.
Only plans are to install the 2008 tax software, watch a few football games, wash the dog, and consume mass quantities of beer and homemade nachos. Oh yeah--also picked up a HUGE porterhouse steak to BBQ tonight--and it was on sale for $4.99/lb. Mmmmmm...I be lovin me some steak and mac 'n cheese...

Sorry, NH -- I beg to differ.
Everything U2 does sounds the same -- like some adolescent whining through his nose.
Not as bad a Stevie Nicks, but what is?

Happy New Year!!!
Cooking country ribs and sauerkraut in the crockpot. Taking them and mashed potatoes and cinnamon apples over to friends later for dinner, football, and Trivial Pursuit. They are doing hoppin' John and greens ( :puke: I promised to eat 3 bites for luck) and fried cornbread.
I'm thinkin' something chocolate is needed for dessert..... :-)

Happy 2009!
I am making a big ole ham today and we are celebrating by doing absolutely nothing.
We did finish season 2 of Dexter today while the kids were playing. Starting on season 3 tonight.
A nice quiet uneventful day. Also as an added bonus there will be no live animals being dropped to their deaths in pots of boiling fluids to upset the mancub today. (Lobster last night caused some unexpected trauma) :-)

Cartoon Network is running a Looney Tunes marathon. The little boy was all over it before he went down for his nap. Since then I've been flipping back and forth between that wascally wabbit (sorry Ptarmy, not aware of any Ptarmigan cartoons on the market) and the Military Channel.
Lorianne is taking it easy in her hospital room. Apparently it'll be Saturday before she's got a chance to get sprung from the clink, thanks to that seepage from her suture line.

Just got home a little while ago from Walmart, the place was packed. :wtf3:

That's why the lobster in my lobster mac and cheese was from the freezer. They've got it down to a science down here. In fact, the grocery stores here all have steamers. Only downside to that is if you do steam them at the store, they charge you the 8 percent meals tax.

WalMart is selling their leftover Coca Cola Christmas bottles. 50 cents for a 13-ounce drink.
If you haven't seen them, they're round globes filled with Coke. I imagine they would make for some nifty crafts... fill them with glitter, colored water, homemade snowglobes, or make little Coke-bottle dioramas. You would probably have to cover the label in some sort of clear acrylic to keep it from eventually peeling off, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

Mia...I was making it up as I went along....but I can tell you how I did it...
Huge pot....
1 stick of butter
2 medium sized sweet onions - chopped.
saute until soft
add 1 heaping tablespoon of minced garlic.
I had 1 large and a half of another bag of fresh broccoli florets from Sam's. I think they were 3 pound bags.
Added all the broccoli at once.
2 cartons of Swanson's chicken broth - low sodium
Sprinkle with Emeril's Original Essence
Cover and cooked on med for 20 minutes. Stirring occasionally.
I have a hand held blender and I kind of pureed it, but not completely.
Added 1 quart of half and half.
Cut up and added a 1 pound brick of Velveta Mexican and a I pound brick of regular Velveeta
I blended about 1/4c of flour with about 1/3 c of water and added it. I added a couple of tablespoons of the soup to flour mixture before I stirred it into the pot.
After the flour was all blended in, I cooked it on low for about a half hour.
Added more Emeril, Kosher salt, and black pepper until it tasted the way I wanted it to.
I'm a taster, rather than a measurer.
There are no calories in it.... :-)
