Title: taking off now

You know, folks, we really need to do what we used to do in our old home, posting "taking off" threads, after which others wish one good wishes, a safe trip, a happy time, and all that.

It's great for post whoring too.

Okay now, I'm taking off circa 6:00 p.m. central time, and don't plan to be back until sometime mid-afternoon Friday, January 2nd.

It's my annual thing, something I learned in an eastern European Yiddish folk-tale as a little lad.  If one spends New Year's Eve under the roof of and with the hospitality of a poor man, God enriches one for the whole year.

So I'm off to see if I may win the Powerball lottery, or something, this coming year.

Keep your eyes on the primitives while I'm away.

The only thing that's ever bothered me about this whole deal is, maybe one is supposed to spend New Year's Eve under the roof of and with the hospitality of a poor man.....on the Jewish calendar, and not the conventional one.

New Year's Eve on the Jewish calendar is, uh, some months away.

The cats are inside, the cats are fine, and will be taken care of while I'm gone.
