Oh my.

The muu-muu primitive's not respectful enough of his audience to describe where "Victoria" is; for a while, I thought the muu-muu primitive was talking about Victoria, British Columbia.

Rude primitives; they think their audience can figure out everything, like where the Hell "Ashford"'s at.

Ban on battery-powered cigarettes

BATTERY-powered cigarettes, sold as a "healthier alternative" and a way to beat smoking bans, will be outlawed in Victoria from Friday.

Distributors say electronic cigarettes have been used by up to 10,000 Victorians since they hit the market a year ago.

The Egar device works by heating up a small cartridge of liquid nicotine, releasing puffs of vapour resembling smoke that are inhaled by smokers. But because the lookalike product is not lit, it can be used in "no smoking" areas.

snip

He told the Herald Sun about 20,000 Egars had been sold in Australia - half of these in Victoria - and the ban was a result of political pressure and the Government's inability to collect the tobacco tax from their sale.

1. Hmm. Are they planning on outlawing chewing gum?

After all, it could be a nicotine-delivery mechanism.

4. Nicotine gum doesn't produce second-hand smoke. Duh.

2. It releases aerosolized nicotine into the air and that's why it's banned in enclosed spaces.

Taxes have nothing to do with this one.

If you want a nicotine hit while drinking, use the gum.

3. Is second hand aerosolized nicotine harmful?

I'm not aware of any studies stating that it is.

10. Look up the pharmacology of nicotine and get back to me

Forcing any drug on unwilling people is bad manners.

You know, if I were the skumbag primitive, I'd give the warped primitive a wide berth.

The warped primitive could tie the skumbag primitive's greasy flaccidities into knots.

11. The literature

I have read on them says it releases a harmless vapor into the air. I have been thinking of ordering them for my annual quit smoking try. Do you have a link that explains that there is aerosolized nicotine released? I am still researching them.

7. healthier alternative? Jesus people think of the poor pharma companies who will lose money with healthier people around. Won't you just think of the profits for once!!?!?

Heh

I guess Australia loves to limit freedom as much as us!

I wouldn't worry about the pharmaceutical companies losing money.

What with the Reader's Digest always inventing new diseases and ailments never known before in the history of mankind, and what with so many primitives being on taxpayer-paid medical care, the pharmaceutical companies will never lose.

9. According to the Egar website

There is no second hand smoke associated with this product. It makes no sense why it would be outlawed. In fact, the article notes that the government wants to outlaw it because it can't be taxed like tobacco.

Trust a DUmmie to consider a way to turn this into a illicit drug delivery system.

I hear if you put replace the nicotine with DrainO it gives a real good buzz...
