It was either here or DIY ..... my Kitchenaid dishwasher ..... sucks
Today we had the third repair on our Kitchenaid dishwasher. That's a bit less than one repair a year.
That, to me, is excessive.
The door spring was the first problem. $150
The controller board. Covered under warranty.
(Today) A blown fuse as a result of simply using the pot scrubber setting (according to the appliance guy). $189.
The pump motor has gotten quite loud. The appliance guy says it is dying. It may last a few days .... or a few years. He said when it goes, get a new dishwasher.
He recommends a Bosch.

get the one with a quick rinse option, but you don't need much else.
scrape (don't rinse) dishes, put in DW, forget until it's full, push On/Off button and walk away.
they are the BOMB!!
One assumes that when the dishwasher's down in the sparkling home, it's the sparkling husband primitive who dons the apron and grabs the towel.

You know it's always a good idea to learn to fix this stuff on your own....Most of what appliance techs charge is labor! :uhsure: There's not much to a dishwasher or clothes washer for that matter. Most parts on these things are made of plastic so are engineered to fail. I've put three water pumps on my 16 year old kenmore washer...it's literally a 10 minute job!

What about the environment?!
Sure a dishwasher saves on water vs. washing by hand but what about all the electricity these things use .... especially if one is using the POT SCRUBBER OPTION?!!!
I sure hope it has bought a lot of carbon credits.

Someone isn't scrapping large pieces left in their plates into the garbage causing extremely dirty situations affecting water flow. Or possibly they need to replace the water intake valve, or there's mineral build-up because the water is hard.
Regardless of what's going on, no doubt it has everything to do with the sparkling couples incompetence.

I used to fix a lot of this stuff on my own back in the day. However, now I just pay $22.00 a month for a full warranty from GE that covers my front load washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, range, and microwave. That is $264.00 a year for full coverage of those appliances.
Last year the motor on the dryer died. The replacement motor was $450.00 alone and the buttheads would not sell me one. The dryer was out of manufacturer's warranty and the dryer motor could only be had by an authorized repair center. The labor for replacement was $100.00 and took the guy 1/2 hour to do the full job. The GE warranty covered the full cost of the repair.
That was $550.00 for the repair - about two years worth of warranty and zero of my time. If you look around, there are places to buy cheap whole house or appliance warranties that are well worth the cost.
Dummys need to think of the big picture and spend their money wisely which excludes Internet porn and weed.
