Poll question: Should we let Pelosi/Reid put repeal of DADT off the table (after 2010 midterms)?

Repeal of DADT will have a significant positive impact in fighting Global War on Terror (GWOT)

Many gay and lesbian military intelligence and linguists, critical skills needed in GWOT, have been discharged to keep the fundies and their enablers happy while putting our nation at risk. Obama PROMISED to repeal DADT! He has now broken his promise by saying that his administration won't even discuss the matter until at least 2010 (I assume to milk more money from LGBT community for the midterm elections). The Warren invocation was a slap in the face to all LGBT Americans. The DADT postponement is a BOHICA without lubrication to all LGBT Americans, particularly to those serving in uniform.

We let Pelosi put impeachment off the table, with tragic consequences for our country. Repeal of DADT has strong bipartisan support across the country, despite opposition to repeal by the likes of James Dobson and his disciple Rick Warren.

The question for you is this: Should we let Pelosi/Reid put repeal of DADT off the table until after the midterm elections?

Poll result (24 votes)
Yes, continue with the witchhunts  (2 votes, 8%) Vote
No, keep promise to LGBTs serving in uniform  (21 votes, 88%) Vote
Other  (1 votes, 4%) Vote

 :thatsright:

It is fun watching them on this issue...............also I really find it hard to believe that 80% of Americans support allowing gays to openly serve in the military.  As a Navy veteran I can really say that will not work with shipboard life and damn sure won't do at all with the bubbleheads.

6. They have to unload DOMA as well.
Impossible to allow an openly gay person to serve and at the same time not permit him or her to have the very same benefits as his or her heterosexual military counterpart. That's flat-out discriminatory.

And the only way the military, a branch of the FEDERAL government, could recognize a marriage (or a "gay" civil union) is to get rid of DOMA--there's specific language in there saying that marriage is a male-female thing, and any arrangement between same sex couples, be it marriage, civil union or some other iteration, is NOT to be regarded as anything resembling marriage by the federal government.

Without the lifting of DOMA, gay servicemembers won't be allowed to get military marriage benefits (base housing, pay at what used to be called the "with dependents" rate, family separation allowance, etc., because DOMA prohibits it.

You crack that DADT egg, and you're making some serious omlette at the federal level with regard to human rights for our gay friends and relatives.

See, that's where the actual "controversy" comes from. It's not that people who do the ****ing work in the military, who actually SERVE, don't think DADT should be overturned. Most do. Most don't give a shit one way or another. There are always a few gripers, but you'll find them anywhere, about anything.

It's the fat fundies, sitting on their asses at home watching tee vee, who love them some DOMA and don't want to see THAT go by the wayside, that are griping.

Don't shoot the messenger, here. I just call it as I see it.

It's just not a question of "simply" getting rid of DADT since DOMA came along.

Let's see...............the three branches of government, Legislative, Judicial and Military :thatsright:

How ****ing stupid are these people............................. :banghead:

That's crap.  More like 80% of Americans don't support DADT.

But however...if they DO decide to let gays serve openly...I'm going to talk to my CO about letting my male soldiers that live in the barracks have female suite mates.

I mean after all if they give gays what THEY want why shouldn't I give my soldiers what they want as well?

We had a co-ed barracks at my last duty station (90-92).  They still had seperate showers and heads though.

this is an obnoxious statement. Murder is murder, period.

I'm no fan of gays, lesbians, and the rest of the wackos, but this statement, sir, is not acceptable to me. BS.
