So last night I celebrated Christmas with my friends. We did a Secret Santa exchange. I gave my person this anti-stress kit and these massaging house slippers.
Anywho, the gift I got was freaking awesome! My friend gave me 2 skeins of yarn, a bottle of wine and some beef tenderloin. One of friends that was also there, is a butcher, so it's an awesome cut of meat. Also, the couple's who's house we meet at, their aunt made these cute scarves and I got one of those, and these ugly homemade slippers that are the most comfortable thing ever on my feet.
Okay, so I totally did well in the gift receiving dept (and not too shabby on the gift giving). This is the only downside, I have never cooked beef tenderloin before. I need help.

Beer, music, and food... this is turning out to be a pretty decent Sunday so far.
I have the usual housework to do... laundry, and cleaning up after a week at work (kitchen, mostly).

When I get home from the real estate office, I'm straightening up my bedroom and vacuuming the house. I like to start small on my whole house clean up. Possibly also clean off dining table.

I am in desperate need of a haircut, but my usual place is down in Williamson county and I have no way to get there. I'll have to find somewhere new to go. :(

Save the drippings from your beef, and you can make yorkshire pudding! :yum:
I picked up eggs and flour the other week, and I keep forgetting to make them. Looks like I have an excuse to go to the store.

Because you are so sweet, Mia....I will give you the absolute bestest way to fix beef tenderloin. ( I cooked 2 5.5lb ones for Christmas Eve....and did 24lbs for a wedding reception in June this way...it's ridiculously easy)
If it only a couple of inches wide....just cut it into fillets....but if it is bigger.
Preheat oven to 500 degrees ( NOT broil)
In a roasting pan....spray heavily with Pam garlic spray.
Cover the bottom with thin sliced sweet onion.
Clean the excess fat off the meat.
Lay it on the onions and cover with cracked pepper and garlic powder (heavy)
Bake for exactly 20 minutes at 500.
After 20 minutes, turn the heat down to 325, and pour a carton of beef broth into the pan (not on the meat).
Put a meat thermometer in and cook to just 140 degrees (rare)
check it every 10 minutes to make sure it doesn't over cook.
When it hits 140, remove and let it rest in the pan for a few minutes...then put on a cookie sheet and let sit for about 10 minutes before cutting.
The small end will be from medium up to rare at the thick end.
I make bernaise sauce and/or horseradish sour cream sauce to go with it, but the onion broth that it cooked in is easily turned into gravy.
I make sauteed mushrooms with lots of butter, garlic and pepper to go with.

OMG! Sounds delicious!

It is incredibly easy and always turns out perfect.
If someone wants it more done...there's a microwave. :-)
I also have a stuffed one that is wonderful, if you like blue cheese.

I'm gonna try the first recipe. I already wrote down a grocery shopping list. :-)
I may go to the grocery store after I get home from work and make it tonight.

I don't do all the fancy onion stuff and everything you do but I basically cook it the same way. I put a lot of cracked pepper on it before cooking.

We are going to go see "Bedtime Story" with Adam Sandler. I'll let you all know if it is worth it or not. My girls want to see it so I have to go.

Adam Sandler is the Stevie Nicks of acting.

She's going to dye the yarn with the wine, dry it out, knit a little sack for the tenderloin.....and kept it as a pet.

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! At Green Valley raceway!

That's exactly my plan.

I had to stay late at work due to a co-worker calling in. Now, I get to start packing my clothes, as I'm leaving for Atlanta tomorrow after work.
I got some bad news about my boss from another co-worker (see my new thread) so I'm trying to take it all in...it's too much for me to handle. :(
