Title: Coldest X-Mas in Hawaii...evah!
Post by: SSG Snuggle Bunny on December 26, 2008, 11:09:34 PM
...at least for the CinC-elect:

Quote
President-elect Obama stopped by the Marine Corps base in Hawaii Kaneche Bay where servicemen and -women were eating Christmas dinner in Kailua Thursday evening.

“Just wanted to say hi, hey guys,” Obama said as he walked into the Anderson dining hall which was decked out in Christmas decorations.

The diners represented seven military units -- Marine and Navy -- some of whom were joined by their families for Christmas dinner.

As Obama entered the room, it was absent of the regular fanfare of cheering and clapping. The diners were polite, staying seated at their respective tables and waited for the president-elect to come to them to stand up.

Exit questions:

1. We all remember the "chickenhawk" meme pushed by the lefties vis-a-vis Bush when he ran against Kerry but a) Bush was a fighter pilot in one of the hardest to control aircraft ever flown, a respectable feat in and of itself and B) at least he was appreciated if not loved by the troops for his love of them...

...how will this anti-military neophyte order men and women into harm's way when he is already loathed by them and only shown the barest of courtesies?

2. I wonder what DU thinks of this?

Mutiny?

Insurrection?

Treason?

Perhaps the brain-washed babay-killers should be disbanded or made to swear an oath to the Changenfurher or their units monitored by political officers or Obama can start a paramilitary force to secure the homeland...

...yeah

The men and women of our armed services will give the Commander in Chief all the respect his position deserves. They will treat him with dignity, and they will obey his every lawful command. Don't think anything less of them.

Exactly, no matter how much bile they have to hold back.

They'll respect the position, not the man filling it.  BIG difference.

Sincererely,
Military veteran under Clinton, Bush 41, and Reagan.

I read a story not too long ago, but I have no way of confirming if it's true or not.

There are little ways in which serving military can express their support or nonsupport of the CinC.

One of them had to do with the Marine guard at the door of Marine One. When the president disembarks the aircraft, the Marine guard(s) under Clinton faced away from the aircraft and went to Present Arms.

The Marine guards under Bush 43 faced toward the staircase of the aircraft and went to Present Arms.

Little things like that would mean a great deal to those who perform those duties, seems to me.
