WASHINGTON – An internal review prepared for President-elect Barack Obama says his incoming chief of staff had multiple conversations with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's office, but no one close to Obama suspected that the governor might be trying to sell Obama's Senate seat as prosecutors allege.
The report was released Tuesday as an Obama transition official confirmed that Obama and two of his top aides, Rahm Emanuel and Valerie Jarrett, have been interviewed in connection with the federal investigation into Blagojevich.
Incoming White House attorney Greg Craig, who conducted the internal review at Obama's request, found that the president-elect had no contact with Blagojevich or any of his staff about the Senate seat he vacated to take over the presidency.
Yeah, Right !!! (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081223/ap_on_go_pr_wh/illinois_governor_obama;_ylt=AuSsi.hHkYkFEK6OtvULt2xH2ocA)
Sheesh, this is just like any lawyer proclaiming the innocence of their client. How about releasing all the emails and phone records? Blago said that Obama's team wasn't going to give anything for picking Der Fuhrer's choice, so it must have been discussed.
-
I'm sure that Pat Fitzgerald has a fair amount more. Obama's team did this for a damage control reason.
-
wow, i thought that bus wasn't going to depart the station til jan 20th... i guess he's getting a seat under it early
-
Didn't Obama go on the record explicity stating that there was no contact at all about this? :whatever:

Yeah... I have that problem with sometimes forgetting that when a Democrat says something, they usually mean the exact opposite... :thatsright:

Absolutely true....probably....maybe....that's why he uses a middle man......and the middle man will take the fall for "Dear Leader".

An internal review from Barack Obama's transition team released Tuesday shows that the president-elect's chief of staff had a number of conversations with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his top aide, but that there was "no indication of inappropriate discussions" regarding the governor's alleged attempts to sell Obama's U.S. Senate seat.
The report also revealed that Obama, chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and aide Valerie Jarrett were interviewed over a period of three days last week by federal investigators building a corruption case against Blagojevich. Prosecutors have said Obama is not implicated in the case.
The much-anticipated internal report, prepared by incoming White House attorney Greg Craig at Obama's request, said that Emanuel had one or two discussions over the phone with Blagojevich, as well as about four with the governor's chief of staff John Harris.
Harris was also arrested on corruption charges and has since resigned his post.

It will be interesting to see if Obama fires US Attorney Fitzgerald when he takes office. If he does, the plot will really thicken as this alleged criminal activity of the Gov will blow up in the Magic Negro's face. Fitzgerald is a first class asshole so I do not believe that he will cut anyone caught of wrongdoing any slack. Time for popcorn and peanuts. :cheersmate: :fuelfire: :
I can not understand why all the tapes, emails, etc can not be released between Obama's aides and the Gov. if there was no impropriety. I would bet nickles to dimes that there were offers to either sell the senate seat or some other remuneration made to the Gov. in exchange for his cooperation.
-
I think Fitzgerald has made himself an "untouchable" with regards to being fired. I would hope that Obama has at least one advisor who would see the fallacy of firing him.

The Exalted One won't fire Fitzie, but can definitely make his life miserable.

More craziness. I'd like to see what the MSM would say if Cheney had been in a similar situation and proclaimed he was innocent after some "self-investigation". :o Barack Hussein Obama is posing seminude in Hawaii, Rahmbo is in Africa, this distance may not be coincidental. I agree that Fitz has helped out with his job security issues, and Blago's still singing.

Could be that he brought the charges against the Gov. before inauguration day to save his job. Proving that the Gov is guilty of a crime might be harder than it seems. Ball busting US attorney's like this asshole might not sit to well with the local jurors. This circus will go on for several years if the Gov wants to keep pleading his innocence. Let the Democraps sit in their own stew.

Exactly what has he done to break the law....................the more and more that this goes the less I think he did anything.............Really just being a Chicago person is enough, but really

isn't that a yakuza thing, not a chicago thing?

The only thing that Blag did here that is different from every single other governor and politician in this country is that he did the wheeling and dealing himself like the cocky moron he is. Selling the seat for cash is rather crass and oh so low rent. This guy is a rookie in the big leagues.
This is a non-issue that Congress won't do a damn thing about as they are all guilty of the you scratch-my-back-I'll-scratch-yours game in the world of politics.
Fitzgerald is a political hack appointee who knows where his next paycheck comes from. Don't expect anything productive from him either.

I think we should give Obama the benefit of the doubt on this one. He wil screw up enough in the next fews weeks and months, without us making false accusations now. Let's not look partisan already.
However, I have some questions about Rahm Emanuel and Valerie Jarrett. How could they have not known Blago was trying to sell the senate seat? On the tapes, Blago sounds like a man getting cheated out of something he fully expected to get. Why did he expect to get it?
And, if Rahm Emanuel or Valerie Jarrett knew Blago was selling the seat, didn't they have a moral obligation to notify the proper law enforcement agencies? If they did not do anything illegal in the strict sense, this still looks a little shady.
If Fitz gets fired, I think we need a special prosecutor.

Fitzgerald will drag this case out as long as he can so that he can keep his job. Obama's new A.G. may throw a monkey wrench in his plans. However, if he is taken off the case or fired, we will hear cries of Obamagate, Obamagate, Obamagate. Either way, a great deal of that fairy dust that has surrounded the Magic Negro has evaporated.

I am not giving Obama ANY benefit of ANY doubt. He's simply smarter than Blago. There's no doubt in my mind he (Obama) is hip-deep in this mess, far enough removed as to give the sense of plausible deniability. As for looking partisan, well, all I have to do is look at Nancy Pelosi and that tells me EXACTLY what flavor of partisanship she's brewing up. That's the kind of leadership she exudes - sort of like pus from a pimple.
Blago needs/needed money for his legal bills. He was something like $500 million in arrears and he needed to raise a lot of cash in a hurry to begin paying that debt. He simply bit off more than he could chew, got greedy, and failed to cover his ass. Obama is smarter than that.
Also, Blago, being a Chicago-style politician, has an enormous sense of entitlement, as do most Democrats. He felt that any powers bestowed upon him were and are certainly for sale to the highest bidder because he has the power and it's there for his use. In other words, corruption is at the heart and soul of Chicago politicians and Blago fits nicely in that role. The Illinois Constitution gives him that power, and it's his for his use as he pleases. He isn't accountable to ANYBODY.

Is he missing a finger?
Wiki says he lost it in a meat cutting machine while working at a fast food place during his high school years.

That is only half-true. The wiki author forgot the stupidity/stubbornness part. He cut his finger badly, but not off. Instead of going to the hospital to get the wound cleaned and stitched up, he decided to go for a swim in Lake Michigan. He ended up with a particularly nasty infection that nearly killed him, so it had to be amputated.
My personal favorite answer would be that he tried to pet Barney.
