Easy enough for me. I simply put this thread on "ignore." No offense, but I just don't wanna play.  :-)

You know, if it weren't for the fact that this kid (Groban) has everybody wrapped around his little finger, he might not be so offensive.

Let me present a little-known concept in these parts -- ART:

I am just pulling your leg, I agree Luciano is in a league of his own and pretty much untouchable by other mere mortals.... he is the über-tenor as far as I am concerned.

That said (not sure why I am responding since you are ignoring me - btw, noone rarely is able to simply ignore me... paging noone in 5...4...3..)

Considering I had never heard of Josh until a week ago, I guess I just find Josh's voice appealing. I am hardly a Groban groupie .... yet.  :evillaugh:

Nah, I didn't say I was ignoring YOU. I said I could/would/shall/whatever ignore the THREAD. This thread! (Uh oh......)  :-)

Again, enjoy whatever tickles your fancy. No crime in that. As a trained musician, however, it's my solid stance that Groban is a Luciano wannabe who, regrettably, is finding favor with a ton of people who have no freakin' idea about classical singing.

He's the WORST kind of crossover singer. If he wants to sing pop, great. Go ahead and warble pop. But stay the hell out of serious music, Grob. You gotta grow a beard, first.

I have to agree with everything you said. I'll probably be listening to Grob ( :-)) with a little bit more critical ear.

Have you heard Paul Potts? This is amazing.

Yeah, I heard this clip some time ago, maybe a year?

Potts is reminiscent of the fire department guy who got his big break after 9/11. That guy (not Potts) sang on a few daytime shows and morning shows and BANG, he's a big star.

The really cool thing about Potts and the fire department guy is that they're regular people, just like you and me. They have a passion and even a bit of talent and they come out to a show like that one and do well.

I think Potts has some ability and some promise. He's got to get a handle on his nerves (jeezus, don't we all?   :thatsright: ) but that comes with time.

The other really cool thing about Potts is this: he comes right out and tells you he wants to sing opera. He doesn't want to sing pop, or crossover, or any other kind of genre but opera. And he does.

Gotta love that.

Grob? He needs to first be able to grow a beard, spend some time in the woodshed, i.e., practicing, get some serious training done, and then come back after he changes his diaper.

THEN he might do well.

If it's one thing that rankles me, it's shake 'n bake stars. Grob is no more a star than I am. He's got to pay his dues first.
