That's exactly the "picture" that opened up in the mind when this bonfire was spotted, the sparkling husband primitive fuming on the commode.

Anybody who refers to him as "Don Rumsfeld" belongs in jail with him
That means you, Duncan Hunter, you insane person, you.
(Context: on Hairballz, apologizing for Rumsfeld, but totally bereft of facts and as a consequence, making shit up out of thin air)
I dunno.
I've already said my first choice to replaced George Bush, running as the Republican candidate for president, was Richard Cheney, but that didn't happen.
My second choice, after the vice-president, was Donald Rumsfeld.
I ended up with my 67th choice, but one has to take what one can get.

1. I don't know...
... aren't mafia family bosses referred to as "Don"? In that context it's kinda appropriate.
Course * would have to be Donnie cause he can't sit at the big folks table.

2. I think you're employing hyperbole in this post
Certainly using a shorter version of someone's name shouldn't be a crime.
*blink, blink*
I'm serious here. I think the world of the former U.S. Secretary of Defense.

They all do spend a lot of time obsessing over things that really are just plain silly. :mental:

Hey, neighbor, it does provide us lots of entertainment, though.
Oh--we're going to be going out and getting a few things soon, to prepare for the first of the next 3 storms that we're supposed to be getting over the next week . . . ! But, it'll be just snow.

Rumsfeld unfortunatly proved to have somewhat too much Pointy-Haird Boss in him, and not enough actual adaptive ladership ability. He and ol' Dr. Chu ended up doing a lot of damage to DOD through a lack of foresight about the consequences of actions he advocated, and then he showed a certain willfulness about refusing to acknowledge reality when things didn't go his way followed by reacting spitefully rather than rationally to recoup the situation. He was great at pissing off the DUmmies, though.

That's about as good a description of Rumsfeld as I have seen. h5

Wasn't Rumsfeld the leading proponent of the "small footprint" military policy in Iraq? I am inclined to hold him accountable for that policy failure. Many conservatives said the midterm elections would have been less a disaster if Bush had fired him a few days sooner.
Cheney was too old and sickly, in my humble opinion, though he has my admiration for a lifetime of public service. And I thought he cleaned Edwards' clock in the VP debate. (Though I am biased against preening, vapid novices running for high office, I admit.)

I liked Rumsfeld, and like everyone he did some good things and some that didn't work out so well. I used to like his press conferences because he'd ask himself questions which were much more relevant than anything the media could ever think to ask. Cheney was OK, too.
My only complaint about the last 8 years was that Bush grew the size and scope of the federal gov't, which is something I didn't sign on for. Of course, I'm under no illusions. Had Gore won in 2000, he would have grown the federal gov't in a way that would have made what Bush did look like a pebble in the ocean.
