Poll question: How much effort does it take to kick and recommend a thread? (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x4676112)
I ask, because I'm trying to understand the disappointing lack of recommendations that this thread has received: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...
I know that many of you cannot afford to donate to help feed the hungry. But even if you can't donate, you can help feed the hungry by recommending that thread.
Poll result (8 votes)
It hurts my clicking finger. (1 votes, 13%) Vote
I already recommended 100 threads about Rick Warren, and a person can only recommend so many times. (0 votes, 0%) Vote
I don't want to look like a sycophant. (2 votes, 25%) Vote
Shhhh. I'm pretending that I don't see that thread. (1 votes, 13%) Vote
Pfft! A $7,500 challenge grant to feed the hungry is nothing. Talk to me when someone offers $7,501. (1 votes, 13%) Vote
KMA, administrator-dude. Nuff said! (1 votes, 13%) Vote
I'm all for feeding the hungry. But recommending a thread is a little too much to ask, don't you think? (2 votes, 25%) Vote

1. Other: Why ask for kicks when you're an admin and can pin the thread to the top of the forum?

2. Because the evidence indicates that most people ignore pinned threads.
They don't ignore highly recommended threads.

5. Hmmm ... you make an interesting point. I'll just pack up my objections and go home.

7. I apologize if I sound a little grumpy.
I am not picking on you. And I know that guilt-tripping people is probably not the best way to deal with this. But it is very disheartening to see how little enthusiasm seems to have been generated by an extremely generous challenge from a fellow member of this community. I know that many people can't afford to donate to charity right now. But recommending a thread is free.

10. You need an "other' selection in your poll.
Seems like right now it is WAY more important to slam Obama for some slight or another. Might be nice if the circular firing squad could at least wait to form up until AFTER he takes office...
I dunno. When did DU become about bashing Dems and celebrating the death of anyone rather than talking about how to help and how to make it better out there? How did it get to be this way?
Just sayin...

14. I'm recommending this
Because the OP has "Rick Warren" in it.

FREE GOVERNMENT
MONEY
The US Government
gives away $10 billion
dollars a month in grants, funded by your tax
money. Click Here to learn how you too can get
a free government grant that you don't have to
pay back.

Damn, I took too long copying-and-pasting.
Mr. Wiggum beat me by 12 minutes.
It's all good, though.

Sorry, for some reason it added an extra http to the beginning of my address. :thatsright:
Fixed now, and sorry to beat you Frank. I didn't bring any comments over because they are just basically kissing $kimmer's rear. You captured some good ones, though.
-
The thread in question:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x4674723
Now has 105 recs. How many did it have before $kimmer whined about it?
-
.....they are just basically kissing $kimmer's rear.
Yeah, that's most of them.
I dunno why the primitives are so afraid of my fellow alum.
Skins is a nice guy, he doesn't bite.

Yeah, DUmmies. Travel arrangements take several weeks to plan in advance and travel agents, and airlines, don't book packages on "good faith".
-
Coach, this thread absolutely must go to the DUmping Ground! With a redirect here.

Yeah, that's most of them.

From what I have been able to determine, $kinner is a free-market capitalist and doesn't even believe in what his site stands for. But as long as it pays the bills and keeps him in booze, he is good with it.

I tend to think that Skinner'$ wife has a driving force in the site, as well.
-
.....he is good with it.
Of course.
And as the staunchest friend my fellow alum can possibly have, I've always hoped Skins flourishes and prospers; he deserves it.
I wouldn't have the patience to deal with the primitives for three times the money my fellow alum is paid. Or even five.
So as far as I'm concerned, Skins deserves everything he gets.
The elusive enigmatic Elad too.
But not Lord Marblehead EarlG, who should be put on a boat and sent back to the Old Country.

Notice how $kammer says "feed the hungry" and not "feed the homeless"...I'm pretty sure $kammer's young son's grocery bills are getting awfully steep... :uhsure:

This thread could be retitled:Skinner's search for Relevance.

My fellow alum has two sons now.
A second one was born earlier this year.
It's all good; I'm sure that after the 0bamareich's done and over with, the offspring will be Republicans; it's human nature for children to rebel.

When is the next time Skimmer asks the DUmmies for money out of mom's purse?

They do that around Valentines Day. I believe it is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Skins.

Too bad that those "hearts" can't be made to bleed . . .
-
When is the next time Skimmer asks the DUmmies for money out of mom's purse?
I think sometime in January.
My fellow alum has a lousy sense of timing.
There's no rule that fund-raisers HAVE to be held at specified times, and there's much to be said for being opportunistic about them.
January is right after the materialistic primitives have spent all their money, maxed out all their credit cards; it's lousy for fund-raising.
Ditto for December, when everybody and his uncle is asking for money.
If I were Skins, I would schedule the biggest fund-raiser for about that time income-tax refunds get mailed out.
-
Well if theres hungry people to be helped and the DUmmies dont have the $$$...maybe they can just send them pics of their own refrigerators?
-
In case no one else noticed while over there, as of early this afternoon (Friday), my fellow alum Skins has at least four new bonfires lit trying to pump up the primitives on this.

Why should they give to charity when they believe the government should take all our money and do charity with it?
