Posting this from work. Much of the ice actually fell off the trees on Friday, but not before the damage was done. I've been without power since Thursday night. Generator is holding up for now, and as long as I keep it in gas it's all good.
Cold showers, OTOH, SUCK. It'll be nice when a laundromat opens up, too.

Ah man I knew the NE got hit hard but I wasn't keeping track of how bad it was.
Any idea when they will have you back up? And are you at least able to run the furnace off of the gennie?
Nice part about winter power outages is that freezer and fridge issues aren't as bad. :)
Well, I was out much later than I should have been last night. I didn't get home until 5am. Then I messed up setting my alarm, but thankfully I woke up at 11am and had time to get dressed and be at work at noon.
I bought my Christmas cards last night, and I brought them with me to work. I have a little less than 4 hours until I'm off work and that's plenty of time to start signing away. The hard part is deciding who gets what kind of card. I have a religious, two that are simple Christmas greetings and one that's about celebrating the holiday with alcohol. I'm addicted to Hallmark. Thankfully it's a little out of the way.
5am holy crap! lol :thatsright:
Here is a story about Rosita and Pedro (it's below the picture)(http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm116/01Zeus/weeweechu.jpg)
It's a romantic full moon, when Pedro said, "Hey, mamacita, let's do Weeweechu."
"Oh no, not now, let's look at the moon!" said Rosita.
"Oh, c'mon baby, let's you and I do Weeweechu. I love you and it's the perfect time," Pedro begged.
"But I wanna just hold your hand and watch the moon." replied Rosita.
"Please, corazoncito, just once, do Weeweechu with me."
Rosita looked at Pedro and said, "OK, one time, we'll do Weeweechu."
Pedro grabbed his guitar and they both sang.....
"Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year."
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
I know! And I kept even saying "I gotta work tomorrow." My friends are definitely bad influences in my life. :-)
:innocent:
After descending into a deep freeze Saturday night into Sunday morning, it was supposed to soar up to the 40s here in Nebraska today (and then to descend back into a deep freeze tonight, rarely rising above circa 10 degrees, day or night, the next few days).
That never happened; temperatures stayed in the single digits all day long, hovering on both sides of the +/- scale.
I'll hide this picture in here.... this will be our Christmas card picture.
I can't begin to tell you all how my son's smile makes me feel inside. It has been a long two years. :thatsright:

Alright, well, I get to put off cleaning the car... its raining. Front seat of the car is clean (needs a good vacuuming though, thanks to all the packing peanuts that ended up there. I would pick up packages delivered to my UPS mailing address, and open the boxes while sitting in the car... big mistake. :whatever:
As for lunch, I changed my mind at least 3 different times. :lmao: Instead of Fresh Market, I went with a hot Quizno's sub. :innocent:

mmm, I love Quiznos. Two turkey sonoma sammies and a cup of broccoli cheese soup. It's yummy in my tummy.
I saw those on the menu, and they looked tasty. I'll try them on my next trip. :)
I spoiled myself a bit today, and got the most expensive sub on the menu. :uhsure: A large prime rib cheesesteak on wheat bread. I ate half of it, and the other half is in the fridge for later. I also got some salt & vinegar chips and a root beer to compliment it. Whoever invented that flavor of potato chips should be ashamed. I'm an addict now. :(

Oh, the turkey sammie is great! It's turkey, pepper jack cheese and chipotle sauce! OMG! Heaven in your mouth!
Oh, I'll definitely try that one. They're listed at 2 dollars each, so I may try 3 different sammies the next time around. :) I just wish the Quiznos on campus was open right now, instead of me having to leave for an off-campus location.

What's everyone doing tonight? Anything exciting happening? :newyear:

Nope. trying to fight off a nasty cold. :( Will probably head to bed within the next couple of hours. I don't want to take the NyQuil now! "(After taking it, I had a nice buzz going last night and then.... BAM... I was gone (fast asleep, I mean). I'll wait a little longer and eat the rest of the sub sandwich first.
I'm sorry you're not feeling well ACC!! :( Enjoy that nyquil buzz though ;) hehe
LOL! Well, now I see why they actually card people when any cold medicines like NyQuil are purchased. :o I got carded when I bought the NyQuil last night. :lmao:
Wow that hasn't happened to me yet!! I know there's certain stuff you have to get from the pharmacy and fill out some form. (ugh). haha But that nyquil junk works!! Hopefully you'll feel better soon!
It might be a state-by-state situation. I know that here in Georgia, if you're not over 18, you can't buy NyQuil or anything similar. They also limit how much you can purchase, given that a few years back, some people were purchasing large quantities to make meth.
I'll get better soon...the whole pharmacy is in my apartment (NyQuil, nasal spray, cough drops, ear drops). :p
lol You're your own CVS :) haha Man that Afrin nasal spray stuff is a miracle drug!
Or Walgreen's. LOL...
I purchased a 12 hour spray WalGreen's brand of anefrin nasal spray last night...that stuff WORKS! Don't ever doubt store-brand stuff.
No idea when I'll be back up. The houses at the bottom of my road were up last night as I was coming home, but sadly, I wasn't. All those brightly lit X-Mas trees in the window, only to have the dark resume about 1/2 a mile from the house--call me cynical, but that kinda smacked me like a big, "**** You" right in the face. Oh well.
Governor Lynch, useless bag of turds he be, told us not to expect our power back soon. Gee, thanks. PSNH guys are telling me that some of the infrastructure has to be completely rebuilt. Parts of some towns might not see power back for TWO weeks. Washington, NH is still completely in the dark because nobody can get through the roads. As the ice melts, the trees snap back into position which has the possibility of taking out MORE power lines.
My generator is a 6000-watt job that takes care of the well pump, furnace, microwave, refrigerator, and a few lights. So no hot water, and no tee-vee, computer, laundry, or stove. But even so, I've gone from about 18-20 gallons on Thursday to about 5-7 gallons today. Time to find some gas on the way home. Freezer and refrigerator stuff still goes bad because even if the house is 50 degrees, the fridge wants to head there too.
Here's a link to some pics folks have sent in:

You are so right, that's exactly what I get too! haha (what a riveting convo we have going here, we are such nerds lol)
:rotf: I have a habit of having (and a lot of the time, starting) strange and random conversations with people, both online and off... for instance, a friend of mine, who is also the vice-chairman of our student organization, called me randomly one night recently to ask why I'd thrown a snow-ball at him over Facebook. that turned into an argument, then a strange conversation ensued. :p Jeff is an oddball...I'll have to invite him here. He'd fit in nicely with the rest of you. hehehe. (a warning: If he shows up, y'all be nice: he just turned 21 :p :evillaugh: ).
A tornado hit my town Monday night. One area, three houses were destroyed. Power lines to the area were down. That area had their power back on Wednesday. (The houses that weren't destroyed.)My aunt and uncle live close to you, so I heard about the bad weather! Hope all is well with you!
lol You're your own CVS :) haha Man that Afrin nasal spray stuff is a miracle drug!
Afrin is from the debil.
:asssmack:
Keep using it. You'll find out what "habit forming" means.

You guys are all pansies!
I mix heroin and radioactive medical waste with Jolt Cola and Lime Cool Aid and then heat the stuff up and snort it through a straw when it's just about boiling.
My sinuses haven't troubled me in years.
Plus I have a lovely pearly green glow!
