I love dickens so much that I have rationed myself. he only has so many novels; I didn't want to read them all too soon in life.

the thing about dickens is that his novels always seems to end in some sort of artificially created "substitute" family. a reflection of Dicken's unhappy childhood, i assume.

Our Mutual Friend is Dickens' last complete novel, and greatest work, in my opinion. he explores the duality of man in a way that hasn't been touched since.
