ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- The skeletal remains of a small child were found Thursday in woods less than a half-mile from the Orlando home of a missing 3-year-old girl, but officials could not immediately say whether they belonged to the toddler.
A utility worker found the body in the outlying middle-class suburb about 9:30 a.m., Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Solomons said. There was nothing that immediately indicated that the remains were the body of Caylee Anthony, he said.
Caylee's mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, insists that she left the girl with a baby sitter in June, but did not report her missing until July. Anthony has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with her daughter's death.
Since then, Anthony's family, police and volunteers from around the country have searched for the little girl.
The child's grandmother first called authorities in July to say she hadn't seen Caylee for a month and her daughter's car smelled like death. Earlier Thursday, a judge had delayed the mother's trial from January to March.

I hope they can identify the remains. No baby deserves to go unburied. If it is Caylee I hope her maternal DNA donor gets fried.
-
What mama said.
Poor baby.

OMG...I have been following this story on Nancy Grace for quite a while. This is so sad, although I had a sinking feeling this would have been the outcome. I wasn't sure whether her sicko mother sold her or killed her.
RIP little girl... :(

Heartbreaking.

Agreed. :censored:
It is heartbreaking to read this news, and seeing that this case might finally come to an end, I hope justice is served with a side of lethal injection (or whatever your preferred method of death penalty is... sometimes I think hanging should be brought back).
RIP Caylee. :(

From the article:
Traces of chloroform, which is used to induce unconsciousness and also a component of human decomposition...
I was wondering how quickly the human body decomposes to "skeletal remains". If the little girl was killed in June, to be a skeleton inside six months is a little fast, seems to me.

Not really considering the heat and humidity in Florida.

If it is Caylee, that will be sad, but will bring some closure. Casey Anthony has to be one of the most hated person right now, besides Lori Drew and Osama bin Laden. Casey Anthony deserves to be buried alive. I am appalled that she did not report Caylee missing until a month later. Sounds very suspicious.

Sounds like the ID is pretty much wrapped up with just confirmation via dental records and/or DNA remaining:

Strands of hair found with the remains, found Thursday a half mile from the home of Caylee's grandparents, are the same color as the 3-year-old's, the lawyer said. The age and measurements also were a match for Caylee, Baden added.
-
There was a forensic pathologist on FOX last night that said chloroform would not be traceable at this late date. It apparently has a quick evaporation rate or something like that.
And depending on the degree of decomposition, it may be impossible to tell how she was murdered.....if no broken bones, particularly in the neck area or crushed skull, bullets in bone, etc.
Stupid bitch of a mother never deserved to have that precious child. :censored: :censored:

I cannot even watch Nancy Grace cover this story. Its too incredibly heartbreaking and frustrating. I can only hope they fry Casey.

Sherrifs department says their pretty sure it's her remains.

To take a cue from our favorite Vulcan, it is the only logical conclusion.

I really don't understand how anyone could watch Nancy Grace ever.
-
My heart just breaks. RIP with the angels, Caylee. :bawl:

I hope it is not, but it could be her. Sadly, it would bring some closure.

I think if it's not her, then that's worse. I'm hoping it's not someone else.

Man who found skull in Caylee case sent police tips months ago (http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/12/18/caylee.anthony/)
ORLANDO, Florida (CNN) -- The meter reader who led authorities last week to remains believed to be those of Caylee Anthony called police four months ago, directing them three times to same site, authorities said Thursday.
At a news conference, Capt. Angelo Nieves, an Orange County Sheriff's Department commander, said investigators are looking into whether the tips, called in August 11, 12 and 13, were properly followed up.
In one of those phone calls, the meter reader reported seeing a gray bag on the side of the road, Nieves said. On August 13, a deputy responded to the site and did a "cursory search" but found nothing, Nieves said
KioMarie Cruz, Casey Anthony's childhood friend, also told police to investigate the same wooded area near Hidden Oaks Elementary School a month before the meter reader, according to CNN affiliate WFTV.
Interesting.
-
Yeah that is very interesting. You would think that a person within 100 feet of the bag could have smelled it. Either the police really seriously screwed up or there is something really hinky going on.

It is interesting. But I've also read where that whole area has been under water for the past few months...so really anything that might have been there may not have been seen/smelled because of the flooding. I would be surprised if the police fell short on investigating this with as much publicity and outrage as there has been over this case.
And it sure blows holes through the defense's claim (on Tuesday) that someone planted the body there recently.
-
There's something about this guy "tipping off" the police, 3 days running on where to look and the police did and didn't find anything at the time....or there wasn't anything there at the time. Supposedly the officer who went there went with a cadaver dog.
Then the guy goes in there and just "happens" to find the bag and skull? The Fox reporter last night said the area hasn't been under water all that time.
But the police say "he's very credible"?
Hmmmmmm.

Mommy Dearest will get LWOP -- the trial is but a formality. But that is nothing compared to what God has planned. She'll be spending eternity with muhommed.
