Probably my all time favorite band. If I had to pick ONE favorite (and I love, love, love all music) it would be Floyd hands down....They are airing a concert from 1984 playing thier Dark Side of the Moon songs in recording order.....They give kick ass concerts. My dream would be to one day see them LIVE...although Roger Waters won't be there...,,,they still Rock...

I am also a life long Floyd fan. Also reallllly like Crosby, Stills and Nash and/or Neil Young & Nine Inch Nails are prolly my favs. Butthole Surfers, Simple Minds, Blondie, Smashmouth, Lenny Kravitz, Rob Zombie, CCR, Stones, The Church, The Cars, Rise Against, ZZ Topp, The Zombies geez, I could go on and on.

Mettalica and GNR too....I grew up in the 80's...I liked most hair bands. Also, those heavy metal bands made the BEST ballads...Nothing today can touch "November Rain or "Don't Cry" or "Nothing Else Matters"
I feel bad for today's kids..they don't know what real music or songwriting is.

"Pigs on the Wing" was the first song I could play all the way through on guitar. "Animals" is my favorite album from them.

Besides PF, I've always been a big Rush fan. Always thought they were one of the most underrated bands ever.

Floyd is right up there on my list. I have pretty eclectic tastes including lots of American/UK/Irish/German folk, historical and martial stuff, and what is now called 'Classic Country' (Modern C&W blows about as much as current pop music). Among my biggest faves these days are mostly older stuff of theirs (mainly from The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon), Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Dire Straits, The Doors, old Stones stuff, Thorogood, The Who, Queen, CCR, and a couple of Warren Zevon's pieces (Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner especially).

I saw the PBS showing of Pulse. The 1994 concert released in 2006. I liked it so much I bought it at Amazon before it finished on TV. :-) I love how they get the fade in & out on Comfortably Numb to work live.

I love it all - Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Jackson Browne, Chicago, and Fleetwood Mac but much to the disgust of my classic rock-loving husband, I also loved (and still love) disco music along with a lot of sappy love songs. I grew up in the 1970s and I started listening to WLS from Chicago when I was 5 or 6.
I have found that at MTV.com and YouTube, I can watch lots of live performances, old tapes of The Midnight Special, and other shows with all my favorite music.
Music rules my life.

"Animals" was studio filler work between the one of the greatest albums of all time -- DSOTM -- and one of the greatest TRANSITIONAL albums of all time -- "The Wall."
Certainly high quality but not even one of PF's best, much less of all time.

People don't appreciate "Money" because it was cut down and overplayed.
And, Uh35 -- "Pigs OTW" is very very good cut in a Boston sort of way.

Those are not reasons why I dislike it..It's just not one of my fav's. Not crazy about "the wall" either. I think Dark Side was their best album, btw.

"The Wall" is admittedly and acquired taste. Sort of like Quadraophenia without the whole "putting chopsticks in your own ears" thing.
I think I just enjoyed the storyline and the Very British Humour.
If you want one of the greatest albums ever: Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of War Of The Worlds (and they have a live 30th Anniversary DVD I am trying to get).

No offense, dear heart -- but she sings through her nose and ramps up to her notes (instead of hitting them solidly). Not as bad as Madonna (who is?) but damn close.
Pretty girl -- that is about it.

I understand. If you spend your life hearing mediocrity, then a bit better is considered "good." Nasal tones, off-key, range within an octave -- what's not to like?
I feel like we have let you down in understanding what "music" is. But we allowed you to play with grunge and drop articles on group names so our magnanimous nature could certainly be misunderstood.

Yes, it's a fairly new site...I remember in the distant past, MTV actually played videos...Seems so so long ago....I'm glad they built this site. :-)

We have reached accord -- when I first heard spears "sing" I honestly thought it was a parody. I can understand prepubescent boys buying her dang-near naked poster, but who would plunk down heir cash on her album?

Here is a song entitled Lithium....probably the drug of choice for the DU'ers.... but still, her voice is amazing...I don't understand why you insist on calling her a bad singer....I love Evanescence.

Same criticism as before. She sings through her nose and swings up to the notes instead of just hitting them straight. Also, from what I heard, her range is about 1.5 octaves -- pretty narrow.
Just not very good. The song itself is OK -- it would be interesting to her it sung by a good singer.
No offense. She shares these bad traits with many modern singers and 100% of all AI winners (except maybe Underwood).
