Brrrrr.

Was colder than all hell yesterday, but not as bad today, and later this week it might be in the 50's!

When I came into work this morning, I took a walk to the Rite-Aid for a couple of things.  It was 7F then, with a wind chill of -9F.  No biggie.  By 10 AM, it had warmed up to 10F, with a wind chill of somewhere near 0F.  Again, no biggie.

You never truly appreciate the asinine nature of "Stormwatch!" with Gordon Tokumatsu, et al, standing outside Moonshadows with a beer just off camera telling us we're all gonna die becaue THREE DROPS hit the windshield on the way up PCH.

This as you gird up to shovel/plow/snowthrow the last 18" of snow from the last storm out of your driveway and off your back porch so the dog doesn't disappear everytime he goes to take a dump.

It's also nice not having to wade through half the population of Mexico to wait 8 hours to get seen at an emergency room.

Sure is nice not worrying about tornadoes, hurricanes, and dust storms.

Oh wait--we DO have to worry about the first two, just not very often.

Try on a wind chill of -114 sometime.

Here is the NWS wind chill chart for those that don't know just how cold it can get sometimes with just wind and temps.

I used to work in a local ice cream plant's ice cream hardening room.  It used to average -30F in there.  The coldest I ever saw it was -48F.  I could take about an hour of that, even fully bundled up, before I had to go thaw out.
