Do you think that Barack Obama may try to repeal the 22nd Amendment, which gives two term limits for Presidents? Here's how the amendment goes:
Amendment 22 - Presidential Term Limits
1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President, when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.
2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.

The inauguration is likely to attract millions and is almost like a coronation of a king. I know back than Presidents would step down after the second term because it was a custom started with President George Washington. It changed when Franklin Roosevelt was elected into his fourth term and died in office.

I highly doubt he'd even try. Both the Dems and Republicans will find plenty of things to be upset about. Just think about the Clinton years.
-
Given what we know about his policies so far, think Carter years. Four years from now people will be very anxious to see him go. I thought it goofy that Carter even tried for a second term.

Only if he is one gene short of complete retardation. Do you know who has to agree in order to repeal an amendment?

Yeah. It's a pretty formidable path, which partially explains why we have only 27 ratified amendments on the books. Only two ways to go about it, and one of 'em hasn't been used apparently.
In the end, 75% of the states have to ratify an amendment. Getting 75% of any group to agree that air is necessary to breathe is already tough enough, without throwing in politics to boot.

No.
Agreed. He may be the Messiah, but he can't yet make those loaves and fishes into food to feed the masses.

Agreed. Getting 38 out of 50 states to agree to remove the 22nd Amendment is highly unlikely.

I am sure he will propose repealing the 22nd Amendment, but I don't think it will ever happen. Ratifying the Constitution is not simple and takes time. Only 27 Amendments have passed and mnay are proposed, but never even make it.

I bet he doesn't even propose it.

No, he won't. It would be ridiculous and then HE would be ridiculous.
Every president, no matter how stupid and unquaified, must think of the future.

the referendum by the people method has been used one time successfully... to repeal prohibition.

He won't waste the effort. Remember, this is the Annointed One who believes that the Constitution is "fundamentally flawed" (his words) with respects to "social justice" etc. He won't waste his breath or energy amending a fundamentally flawed document, when he can just ignore it with impugnity.

Hmmm. It looks like the original reference I read was wrong. Thanks for setting me straight.
The Wiki article on the 21st Amendment states that the constitutional convention method of ratifying an amendment is the only one to date.
The interesting thing is, Kansas continued to ban public bars until 1987. I traveled to Hutchinson Kansas in 1982, and after work, went into a bar. They told me it wasn't a bar, it was a private club.
Either way, I got an adult beverage of some kind because somebody invited me to be a member of that club.
But anyway, I don't mean to detract from the thread any more than I already have.......
Back to Obama......

No,
He'll undermine the military, build his own civilian national defence force, then seize power so he doesn't have to care about the constitution.

He's going to have a bit of a problem with 20 million or so armed civilians.

maybe that's why i heard on the news he was telling people they don't need to go buy a gun...
