this story leaves out the fact that The PresidentStar! raised $100M in the last month alone, which was more than mccain received in public financing for the entire campaign. and buried at the end of the story is a very small reference to a very large lie; 26% of his total came from "small donors". the rest of his loot came from those people that he constantly smeared as "the entrenched special interests"; fat cats, lobbyists, and corporations.
Obama raised $745 million, twice as much as McCain
WASHINGTON — Barack Obama, who rewrote the book on presidential fundraising, amassed more than $745 million during his marathon campaign, more than twice the amount obtained by his rival, Republican John McCain.
In his latest finance report, Obama reported raising $104 million in more than five weeks immediately before and after Election Day. It was his second biggest fundraising period and a fitting coda to a successful presidential bid that shattered fundraising records.
In the end, Obama still had $30 million left over.
Overall, Obama exceeded the combined finances of the two major parties' nominees four years ago. George W. Bush and John Kerry pulled in a total of $653 million in the 2004 primary and general election campaigns, including federal public financing money.
Obama's prowess at attracting money, one of the many characteristics that defined his campaign, could well spell the end of a 30-year experiment in public financing of presidential contests.
After initially vowing to take public funds if McCain did, Obama became the first presidential candidate since the campaign finance reforms of the 1970s to raise private donations during the general election.

$745 Million, spent acquiring a $569,000 a year job. :thatsright:
And we wonder why the 536 retards in Washington don't understand our objections when they keep spending our country into oblivion.....

He'd have done a Hell of lot better if he wasn't John McCain. Between his public financing decision (OK, so he actually believed a Democrat's promise, I guess some people might cut him some slack on that one) and the basic problem that the VP was the only reason for the base to vote at all, it's surprising he got that much.

precisely. that, in a nutshell, was his undoing. try though we did to get excited about him, the best the base could muster was to force themselves to the polls, if only to vote for his running mate. that was a hell of a good decision, though. the media should have finished her off when they had the chance. she will be back, and I have an idea that she holds a grudge. :-)

I sure hope so, on both counts!

Those Rockerfeller RINO's better look out. She will be loaded for bear the next time around and there will be no one to muzzle her. What a breath of fresh air she is.

Would it be inappropriate to start referring to her as "Daisy-Cutter" now?

buried at the end of the story is a very small reference to a very large lie; 26% of his total came from "small donors".
Given that his website took donations anonymously, did not track total amounts given per card, and that it accepted international donatioons, that 26% (or over $190 million) may or may not actually be from "small donors".
Also, certain banks now create "one shot" credit card numbers for each internet transaction. So if I had one of those cards, I could anonymously donate (in sub-$200 increments) as much as I wanted.
So much for campaign finance reform...
