Hey....asdf... :bigbird:. Meanie.
Then Sunday, I get to freeze my arse off AT the parade, when the high is currently being predicted to be 32 degrees and windy.
Going to my husband's work christmas party tonight. I haven't been "out out" since before my brothers funeral (July 22nd). Wait I take that back, I went out between my two cases of UVeitis one time (this would have been in September) with a couple of girlfriends.
My daughters choir performance was so cute last night. It about brought tears to my eyes. To be in this choir they had to audition BY THEMSELVES in front of the choir teacher (she had never sung for anyone before), have at least an A-B average, be selected by their teacher for exceptional behavior and not in danger their grades slipping because of missing class for practice.
My other daughter had an Orchestra performance so my Husband and my parents went to that while I went to my daughters choir deal. Apparently it was really impressive. They had the band, orchestra, choir, theater and the art department all involved in the whole deal. It was a really huge show. I'm sorry I had to miss it.
BUT... Leaving for a waterpark resort this afternoon for the weekend so I'm going to be kicking it in a beach chair and drinking tropical things in 32 ounce glasses for the next two days. So let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! :cheersmate:
Flame, I went to a parade here last night and I thought of your poor daughter freezing her bum off this Sunday. It was chilly last night, but that Irish coffee warmed me right up. :-)
BEG, you would have loved the high school orchestra I was in. For the Christmas concert it was full orchestra for 2 songs, 1 string only piece, then the varsity choir would come out and we played "Hallelujah" with them singing. It was impressive every year.
Tantal- I saw the other day on Yahoo Trinity is ranked #1 in the nation. They really smacked Arlington upside the head last week. I have a lot of friends that graduated from Trinity.
As for me, I'm really hoping I don't have to do much of this "work" business today. LOL! I'm hoping that Sweet Dee still wants to go to happy hour today too. :cheersmate:
So when are ya'll coming up for Happy Hour? We sell alcohol on Sundays here even!
The mighty Trinity High School Trojans are playing the Allen Eagles in the 5A Division 1 Regional Final at Texas Stadium tomorrow, so I'll be there. Trinity is on a quest for its 3rd State Title in 4 years and are currently ranked as the #1 high school football team in the nation. Allen is ranked #9 nationally and #2 in the state, so it should be a dogfight. I'm interested to see if All-State linebacker Ernest Norman (Nebraska commit) will actually kill someone this week.
Sorry, but high school football is almost a religion down here. It's unlikely that you yankee folk would understand. :-)
It's waaaay too cold to go to NH right now. We're Texas girls. :)
If Trinity and Stony Point both win tomorrow, they will meet on 12/13 to determine who goes to the State Title game. In D1 you've still got Pearland/Fort Bend Hightower from region 3 and San Antonio Clark/Austin Westlake from region 4.
I live in Round Rock and our local high school (Stony Point) where my son graduated from is still in the playoffs for 5A. He graduated five years ago and their team barely won a game during the season when he was there (he didn't play football - he was on the basketball team) and in the last two or three years they have just exploded. They play Dallas Skyline tomorrow at 2:00 pm in Waco. So if Trinity wins and Stony Point wins, could they eventually play each other? I'm not up on the whole playoff system here.

where I have to sell the hot dogs, nachos, and walking tacos. :-)
The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs travel to Corsicana tonight to play the Spring Texas Klein Oak Panthers. This is the 5A Division 2 Quarter finals. This is the Dawgs third yr in a row in their quest for a State Championship. The Cove Football Team have alumni playing in various colleges across the U.S and about 6 currently playing in the NFL.My dad moved from Cisco, TX to Copperas Cove prior to his senior year. He's got a Copperas Cove diploma.
walking tacos? Do they have little legs on them or something???? :-)
I want to know what a 'walking taco' is.
You take a snack size bag of fritos, you smooch the fritos to break them up a bit. You open the bag and you put a spoonful of chili or taco meat in the bag. Then you put some shredded cheddar, or a spoonful of nacho cheese. Then you give it to the consumer, who can then add onions, tomatoes or any other condiment they choose. I never heard of it either until I worked a grade school basketball game concession stand. :-)

If you or your dad haven't been to Cove in awhile you probably wouldn't recognize it. Especially that huge ass maze of a High School. Sparky ain't changed at all though.

We played a grueling non-district schedule this year. We started with John Curtis High School from Rock Ridge, LA (a private school that recruits players and has 22 state titles) whom we beat handily, Cedar Hill (still in the playoffs in D2) whom we systematically dismantled, and Allen that we beat 24-14 in week 3. But, you never know, Allen's a very good team and will give us a good run.

Ahem, Martin High School, at least in 1999, largest single school high school in Texas. I cannot imagine Copperas Cove being larger than that building. The only building in Arlington, Texas larger than the high school...the GM factory.
It's not so much it's size, although it is a fair sized building for the school district, HS is something like 2200 students.. It's been added on and extended numerous times to the point it was just a confusing maze of hallways. They did recently remodel the whole thing after another addition a couple yrs ago. haven't been in it since so don't know if it's an improvement.

Holy :o What do the believe in just one to three high schools per school district? That's insanely huge!
How many kids are in these school districts? :o Are you educating half of Mexico?
Detroit doesn't even have that many children! Let me rephrase that, children enrolled in school.
Those Texas gals, know how to give it up :cheersmate: :uhsure:
Arlington has a population of about 400K about 120K of them under the age of 18.
Save a horse ride a cowboy :evillaugh:
There were 5 high schools in Arlington when I graduated, the 6th opened a year or two after I graduated. :wink:You also forget that pretty much every kid in Arlington that lives south of Sublett is educated by the Mansfield ISD, which has 4 high schools of its own.

Allen 34 Euless Trinity 21Yup. I was there. Allen came out and punched us in the mouth and we never could get on-track. We are a run-oriented team, but once we got down so early, we had to abandon it. Oh well, next year's a rebuilding year, but the 2010 and 2011 teams are going to have some absolute MONSTERS. Good luck to your Dawgs.
Bummer Tantal
Like I told my son a couple yrs ago & last year,You gotta make it to Texas Stadium and the Alamodome to loose in the Texas stadium & the Alamodome.
