Title: Toosday! :-)
Post by: asdf2231 on December 02, 2008, 07:21:03 AM
Morning!

We are getting more snow tonight. Yippee.

I'm not going to able to utilize my man space here at the garage work table for too much longer I am thinking.  The space heater is NOT keeping ahead of the chilliness as well as it should.  :(

Got a fair amount of sleep last night for a change.

I am going to thread lights on the wreath and get it hung up today and then venture into the big city to buy a replacement for the 18 year old clock radio that gave up the ghost this morning. Maybe price out some two stage snow blowers. By God I live an exciting life!  :hyper: :-)

PLEASE....keep all that snow for yourself.   :-)  It was 26  :censored: degrees here this morning.  How long 'til Spring?  At least the skies are clear for now.

I'd sell you my snow-thrower, but I'm going to need it by the weekend.

It was 23 here this morning. Those greyhounds aren't taking long to go outside. Usually Xena won't come when called---at least not til she's good and ready. She was very ready this morning.

There's still a little snow, but only on the grass.

You have clear skies?     It's still really gloomy here, but if you have clear, then we have hope! :-)

I have not slept well for a couple days, but that is part of life. I am just happy I can breathe and walk without assistance at this point in my life!!!  I am still a little jacked up from a couple work related injuries over the years...something DUmmies don't have to worry about...hard to get hurt on the job when you don't have one!  :lmao:

Today my mom is having surgery in Las Vegas...her thrid surgery since July...this one is just more internal.

It looks like they want to keep her at least one night. So I will find a place to sleep, I won't leave her there by herself.

If they have wi-fi I will check in.....I wonder if the hospital has showgirls, video poker or margaritias??? Well my mom won't have time for all that anyways...and I am just happy reading a book.

"Man space" in the garage?  That's what my husband calls his space, too.  Sometimes he calls it "Danland."

I'm not allowed in Danland or the man space unless I'm leaving to go buy him Corona.

Spent the morning in a kindergarden class.  Still trying to get the headache to go away.

I deep in the depths of Nutcracker hell right now, with the Christmas parade coming up this weekend, just to add extra "fun".

I just need to survive through the 14th.

Oh, and my daughter's "friend" ,  whom she went on a date with last weekend (before T-day), may have mono.  Oh joy.

Exactly! There's not many places left we defend to the death. My shop is one of them. If "Toots" does anything besides just walk thru she is taking her life in her hands!  :-)

Now if I could just get her to quit "borrowing" my tools when I'm not home! :hammer:

Went and had my diagnostic mammogram with an ultrasound.  It ended up being nothing to worry about but when the lady was done doing the mammogram the radiologist sent her back to take two more pictures, the last one hurt like a b*tch.  I had heard that mammograms hurt but it didn't hurt until the very last one.  I just about screamed.  I was worried for a bit because they told me when  I went in if they didn't see anything on the mammogram then they wouldn't need to do the ultrasound and then they told me I needed the ultrasound.  Anyway, everything looks ok so I am very happy.

I bought the very first christmas present of the season today (for my youngest daughter).  I feel so behind.

Well, I just got talked out of that LG tv by a Best Buy worker/classmate.  That tv may LOOK nice, but apparently its a piece of crap that always needs work.  :( I've been told to wait until summertime, as that is when there will be some good deals on more reliable flat-screens.   So if any of you even think about looking at the LG for yourself, don't do it, unless you want a tv that shuts off randomly and changing the channel can take a few seconds (and has been returned repeatedly to the Savannah Best Buy, as it turns out.)

In the meantime, I'm looking at a new cellphone (yeah, I got some cheap piece of Nokia crap, but it will work until my contract is ready for an upgrade on January 2nd). What do y'all think of this?

AT&T Sony Ericsson W760a (http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/cell-phone-details/?device=Sony+Ericsson+-+W760a+-+Red&q_sku=sku3020348#reviews)

ACC....thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I was looking at them last night on line for a potential Christmas present for the other half.

I have a Verizon Treo 755.....I don't recommend it.....too many problems and I'm on my second replacement.  I was going to give it to M as he needs a new one and get the Blackberry Storm....but I just heard on Sunday that they have a ton of problems and to wait about 6 months on them too.

You're welcome, you're welcome, you're welcome!  :-) :lmao:

I loved my previous phone, also a Sony Ericsson... It was a fantastic phone, though in the last couple months it started acting up after it took a LONG fall down some stairs.  :uhsure:  It took a beating, but worked alright.  Screen would freeze every so often, but I would remove the battery, replace it, and it was fine again for awhile.

I was reading the reviews on the W760a, and a lot of these folks also owned the same phone I had (W810i) so I trust their opinions on this new one.  :)

One of our flat screens is an LG (plasma or other one is LCD and a different brand).  We have had it for a few years with no problems and it has a great picture.  I guess it could just be the different model or we just happened to get a good one.

This is what I was looking at:

Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8939679&type=product&id=1215217075182)

I was interested in it solely because of its size and having a built-in dvd player.  I'll keep looking until something else comes along.

A bit on the pricey side, given my budget. I would love to have one, but its not an option right now.  I must say, they are a lot of fun to play with, as I did that at the Mall of Georgia Apple Store.  The YouTube feature would seriously make me go bankrupt  :lmao:(unless I got the unlimited data plan, but even that I can't afford right now :( _.

The one we bought is the older version of this one: LG 60" Plasma (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8961965&st=LG+Plasma&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=1216425209535)  Perhaps their LCD isn't as good as their Plasma or maybe it has to do with the built in dvd player......OR maybe we just got lucky.

I thought it was like 57" or something.  I don't think it was 50" but they only have 42", 50" or 60" listed on their website.

The only prob with the iphone, is that the at&t dealers don't service them directly.  You have to deal with apple for that.  Seems like kind of a pain in the butt!  I just got a new phone yesterday, and that's one of the main reasons I didn't get an iphone.

Yeah, that's the other problem I noticed with the iPhone... having to SEND the phone in for repairs. No thanks, even with the so-called "rental phone."

Plus, I like being able to access the battery on my own.  Sealed-in-batteries (like with my Zune mp3 player)...well, they suck.  :hammer:

Just remember that, every month (or every two months) a certain amount of RO minutes will expire.  I discovered that by calling "View My Minutes" and AT&T sends me a free text showing how many minutes I had left.  And I just checked now, and I'm losing 250 more on Dec 14.  :bawl:

My plan is 450 weekday/roll over minutes and 5000 nights/weekends.  I currently have 1,520 roll over minutes.  I have unlimited messaging, I just checked my bill for last month I sent 1,268 messages.  Last month I used a total of 45 weekday minutes, but 333 nights/weekends.

Okay, got a question... has anyone ever purchased a cellphone from Amazon?  If I wait until January 2nd, I should qualify for an upgrade then.  I found a deal on the W760a, but I don't know if its too good to be true, or not (though Amazon is the seller)...I know I have to have a 2 year extension on the contract to get the deal, which doesn't bother me, but might there be any more "gotcha" type of problems associated with this?

Yes, I did.  I bought the w580i on there.  It was $0.01.  My contract was already up with AT&T and I just had to resign up and get a new phone number.  The deal is you have to be starting a new line of service, so you'll have to get a new phone number, you can't just switch it I don't think.  They're new phones that Amazon sells.  Just read the "fine" print on the whole phone number, new line of service deal. Oh, and I believe I couldn't cancel the contract within 6 months without paying like $300 or something like that.

New phone number?! Noooooooo!    :bawl:   But according to what I did (I went through the motions of buying it, without finishing the final step), and it shows that I can still get the deal with a contract extension.

Then it sounds like a good deal.  :)

I hope so... because until January 2nd, I'm stuck with this:

It may look cute, but its slow as Christmas when I'm trying to change features or access the internet.  :hammer:
