We got an early morning call. It was such good news. My son and daughter in law were expecting their first December 2nd. Guess little Rowdy didn't want to wait. They chose not to find out if little baby was a boy or girl, but I knew it was a boy. The mom-to-be said the baby was constantly kicking and was so active---and the docs said the baby was pretty good size.
The baby is named Luke. SR says we definitely need to get a little light saber for him. My son was so excited and proud. We'll go to the hospital to see the little one sometime this afternoon, after they call us and let us know when she'll be moved to a regular room. Can't wait.
We're calling and ordering one of those Vermont teddy bears, the "new baby bear" with a little bib with his name and date of birth. I thought it would be a nice keepsake.

Congrats SLW and SR and proud parents! What a fun first Christmas! :)

Congrads!! Glad to hear all are doing well.
You must be beaming!

Run out and buy a Baby's First Christmas 2008 ornament!

Awww Congratulations SLW.

Good idea. I'll be heading to the stores shortly. Need to get a baby card and little gift.
Thanks everyone, really appreciate the good wishes.

That's great news SLW & SR. :)

Congrats again, lol!
We can finally unload some of those "Foxy Grampa" t-shirts that have been sitting around the CC Warehouse now. :-)
-
Congratulations, SLW and SR (and the parents). :)

From someone else who had a baby a little earlier than expected, congrats!

Congrats on your new grandson.....lots of babies this season... :-)

Thanks everyone, just returned from the hospital The baby is adorable. My son and his wife are beaming with pride. And they let me sit in the rocker and hold him. He;s such a good little baby, so quiet and sweet. He looks just like my son when he was a baby. Apparently her mom had said that the baby looked just like the mom. :-)
Excuse me if I have a bunch of typos. I accidentally left my glasses in the hospital room and waiting til my son brings them over here. We didn't want to bother the young parents again and let them have some privacy. So now I'm sitting here blind as a bat.

If you are going to get a baby Christmas ornament get a Hallmark one and start a tradition of buying him one every year. I have two huge boxes of Hallmark ornaments and I feel it makes my tree look really great. Everyone who comes over looks at our tree forever to see all the different ornaments. Some of the Hallmark one's can bet a bit tacky but the majority of them are really neat. I don't know what the ones this year look like for a Baby's First Christmas, now that I told you to get a Hallmark one they will probably be all ugly.

Here's a pic of Luke. May the Force be with him! :-)

Don't let him make out with his sister, hey? :-)
What a cutie!!
So when are you and SLW going to produce a new Sithling? :uhsure:
-
If this is your first, you will have to be firm with him. Don't let him go running off to get power converters with his friends until his chores are done.

Thanks, we think he's pretty special. He's already a husky little one. Had SR crop me out of the pic, wanted it to be just about little Luke.
Good idea about the Hallmark ornaments. Will go to the Hallmark store soon and get one. Remembered that SR has numerous Starwars ornaments. We'll have to give some to the baby.
-
I have just the ornament for little Luke...

We have gotten a tree ornament every year for each of the kids.
The theory is that when they move out they will have a small amount of stuff already for their own Christmas trees.
The Grandparents have kicked in on that too on and off over the years.

That's nice. I have four or five little ornaments, but nothing to hang them on.

What a beautiful baby! Congrats to all of you.
The ornament idea is a great one. My kids got them every year....now if they would just take them they would have enough to do most of a tree! :uhsure:

Post some photo's when you get the chance...I love babies.. :-)

Congrats! Have fun loving and spoiling the little guy!

Thanks everyone. I'm really excited about the little cutie. Poor baby, had the big ouch for boys today. I heard he wasn't too happy. He cried when the nurse came in and changed his dressing. Poor little Luke.
-
Congrats. I hope he grows up to be President.

Poor baby, I remember when I had my son and he had his "big ouch". I literally felt sick seeing him go off to have it done. My husband went with him and held his hands while it was being done.

I'm late to the party, but congrats, SLW and Sara!! He's a handsome little guy. :bday:
-
Congratulations.
Now you have some serious spoiling to do.

Now you have some serious spoiling to do.
I plan on doing exactly that. Tonight I was busy making a large casserole so my DIL doesn't have to cook. I'll try to see if I can post a pic they sent of little Luke. I never did see the baby with his eyes open. The pic they sent was so precious. (Can you tell that I'm so proud of him?) :-)

Oh gracious, he is adorable... what a little chunk, how can you resist those cheeks?
All my babies were chubs as well and they ranged from 8lb to 9lb 12oz. I swear if I had a fourth, the baby would be 10 1/2 lb.

Thanks, Schade. I'll try to post another pic later, one with his eyes open. His little face is cleared up now. This pic was taken about 10 hours after he was born.
Your babies were really big. You're so small, can't imagine the 9lb 12oz baby for you. My DIL is very thin. I think she was having a difficult time toward the end. She's a nurse at the same hospital where she had the baby and worked til about the end. She said the other nurses helped out, are a real team. Sadly it's not like that at my office, but glad for her.

That is what my parents did for me and my sister. We also each had an Anri nativity scene, and each year rec'd a new piece. I could not understand why my parents would spend over $100 on a little wood donkey, when back in 1974 that could buy alot of toys!!
I had a total loss house fire in 2004 while visiting my sister in NE. Everything in the bedroom closet was burnt, or melted...but up on the shelf, in a box that was just lightly covered in soot...was the nativity scene...
Great baby pics!
