Global Warming Legislation Necessary Despite Economic Downturn, Activists Say

(CNSNews.com) – A federal cap-and-trade bill is the best way to protect America’s economic interests and environmental health, according to corporate leaders and environmental activists with the U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP).

By raising the cost of carbon emissions, cap-and-trade policies would discourage the use of carbon-based energy sources in exchange for “green technologies” that will create new jobs, advocates say.

Of course they don't tell you that they will also eliminate more jobs than they create with these "gree technologies".  Minor detail.

*snip*

The cap-and-trade policies favored by USCAP reflect the policy directives enshrined in the Kyoto Protocol of 1997, named after the Japanese city where it was formulated. Kyoto called for participating countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by about 5.2 percent below 1990 levels by the year 2012. The Bush administration refused to sign the treaty, citing adverse economic consequences for America.

In a question and answer session following the press conference, Crane observed that some European business leaders have determined in retrospect that their cap-and-trade system did not work as effectively as it could have.

In reality, not all of the funds raised from cap and trade were devoted to solving the “carbon problem,” according to those same business leaders, Crane pointed out.

Imagine that...  :whatever:

global warming my hiney...we've had light snow most of the week in CENTRAL Ohio(which means we are pretty much 'safe' from lake effect being this far south of the lakes)...It's only November! In the 7 years I've lived here, I've never seen snow like this in November. The other half who grew up here is hard to remember snow before Thanksgiving except for the errant flurry here or there. As I sit here there is about a 1/2 an inch covering that is staying because of the cold. That's my peer review. Maybe W fired up the ole VRWC weather machine to get people in the holiday buying mood up here or somethin'.  :evillaugh:

So the libs want to spread the wealth around he world. They should ask themselves, "Who has spread more wealth, Americans or the rest of the world?" Americans have given more tax dollars and charity dollars to the world than anyone. If they handicap Americans with this global warming shi....stuff, who do they expect to step up and take our place?......socialist countries?..... :rotf:

Nevermind that it feels more like January than November here...yep, it's all that glo-bull warming.

Tell ya what--I want to see some of those Weather Channel idiots doing forecasts and "we're all gonna die!" stories in string bikinis in Vermont, then I'll give a rip what they think.

I didn't realize George W. Bush was president in 1997.  I'm glad I read this.  I hate to be ignorant.
