Title: poll: socializing with a primitive
Post by: franksolich on November 19, 2008, 07:18:09 PM
You know, given that the nights come early, enveloping the world in dark and cold, and given that the time when one must thank God for all things is coming, I always take time out to reflect upon the primitives of Skins's island.

There's only two primitives utterly irredeemable, two drek primitives, their souls black with decay and gangrene and pus; all the rest are human, although one reasonably suspects that 99% of this "rest" are rather baser, rather less, than decent and civilized people.

But surely out of circa 6,000 primitives, there must be one or two or three of them one can find pleasant company--POLITICS EXCEPTED--for lunch, for a few beers, or for whiskey and poker.

Again, remember, POLITICS EXCEPTED.

Are there any primitives on Skins' island one might feel comfortable socializing with, for an hour or so?

I actually have a whole pocketful of them, from the warped primitive to Grandma with the diverted intestine to the cboy4 primitive, to about four or five others whose names escape me at the moment.

I'd take especial care with the warped primitive, to remind her she has a pretty smile or great eyes or lovely hair or whatever it is that's aesthetic about her mannish-looking physique.  The warped primitive is a woman after all, with the natural longings of women, including the desire to be praised for whatever is attractive about her.

And then maybe we could have some fun arm-wresting over beers.

I voted "perhaps" for one, and ONLY one primitive:  OMC.  I think I could hang for a beer or two with him.

On the other hand, I've always thought it'd be fun to gather a bunch of us and stake out one of their watering holes, just to listen and laugh at them.  A bar in Tiburon, maybe, or the "Drinking Liberally" moonbat fest in Philly.

Well, now, of course I would jump at the opportunity to observe circa 5,950 of the circa 6,000 primitives, for sociological purposes.

But that's "observing" them.

In the sense of the poll, I mean actually interacting, socializing, exchanging (non-political) with them; a friendly sort of intercourse.

I say perhaps. It really depends on how one defines socializing.

There are a couple of people on there that might be amusing to talk to, for a few moments.

I agree with lastparker, OMC.  There was another one that showed signs of fairness...the one whose sister died in a Texas hospital.  I can't recall her name... she might be OK.

The operating one strikes me as a stuffed shirt.

Good for observational purposes, but not for social purposes.

I voted perhaps but this is something of a conundrum as the prerequisite is that politics is not on the table.

Politics to primitives,or more accurately religious humanism with politics being one of its manifestations,is not simply an interest, fascination or hobby but an obsession.
I doubt they can suspend politics from any aspect of their life to have a pal around time.

Probably, but I bet the three I selected could overcome that compulsion.

And one has to consider Grandma with the diverted intestine (the "hippywife" primitive) who, really, stays out of the political 99% that is Skins's island, sequestering herself in the more-reasonable rural and small town, cooking and baking, frugal living, and do-it-yourself forums.

It is possible that Grandma with the diverted intestine is the least political primitive.  There might be one or two or three primitives less "political" than she is, but I haven't seen them yet, if they're there.

I voted yes because I have already socialized with a couple.  One I wouldn't call a primitive and actually consider a friend.

Damn BEG.
I might have to take you off of my "to do" list.

You "know" the one I am talking about and like her as well.

She's still on mine . . .  :naughty: :evillaugh:

I voted "maybe" because I work in a lefty's paradise (Albany NY), and know more than a few, and have hoisted drinks with a few.  It would all depend on the primitive.  (Is she hot?  :naughty: :evillaugh:  )

Where is the "would you knowingly socialize"...and...the "only if I have too" selections?

I picked "Maybe," though no specific names come readily to mind.  I have dealt socially with all sorts of people through my life from hard-over Marxists to far-right racist nutters who think Hitler was pretty damn' cool, and from every concievable religious background.  I can drink beer for an hour and BS with about anyone who drinks beer and isn't an armed psychopath.

How about unarmed psychopaths? :-)

As log as I'm armed and they're not, or we're both unarmed and the head-case is a lot punier, it would still be feasible.

The WannaJumpMyScooter primitive lives in the Asheville area and apparently likes to ride motorcycles, as do I.  So I could go out and ride the Blue Ridge Parkway or something with him, minus any political talk of course.  Besides when I go riding, I do it to get away from all the junk going on, so not talking politics or shutting someone up who wants to would be an easy thing for me to do.

No.

I would not willingly spend an hour with one of them.

Not even for cheetos.
