A sign of the times - how are some people supposed to get food?

In a few weeks I should be getting my unemployment checks, which will help a lot. In the meantime I called the local mid-ohio food bank so I could get some groceries. In order to get food from the local pantries you have to call a place called first link to get a referral first.

The number has been busy for three days, and no one will hand out food unless you have that referral. I'd drive to the place if I could, but don't want to take the gas as I need it for interviews this week all over town (and even then I don't know that you can walk in without an appointment to fill out whatever it is I will need and not sure what all I need to take).

I have called all the local pantries I could find numbers for, and got the same story and the same number to call.

I'll find a way to work it out - but I don't know how other families can make it when it is like this.

When it is all said and done and I am on my feet again I am going to offer to answer phones and maybe even pay for a second phone line for them.

Thanks * for ****ing things up so much over the last year.

Than God Obama will soon be in office, at least we have some hope.

Sorry, just had to rant.

Ah, yes, the Big Zero.

The Big Zero's going to feed the multitudes with two fish and six loaves.

Sort of what the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive did last Thanksgiving, for all of his house-guests.

Democrats, liberals, and primitives must have a special gift at doing this.

8. kroger, giant eagle, wal mart are the big ones

just no income until first week of december. I did work some for a security company, but so few hours my one check was $2 and the other $13 after insurance which I need for the wife.

Things are looking up, just tough last few weeks.

11. Making plans on doing just that tomorrow AM (depending on job interview time)

Just need to get through about 2-3 weeks and I will be OK for a spell, and my old boss is setting me up for a great job interview making good money.

Been in and out for a spell here and will explain it all later to my friends here - I have hope, just feel like my hands are tied right now and wife is sick and in bed again and relies on me and I feel like I am letting her and baby girl down.

I feel like putting my fist in the wall, but I knew people on DU would have answers and suggestions to help.

This dope has been peddeling these woe is me stories for over a year...traffic tickets,no job....etc.

I think he is just using the idiots there for handouts and being primitives they don`t remember the stories.

The number has been busy for three days,...

Here's a suggestion much better than you'll ever get at the DUmp.

This routine of yours where you lie in bed until noon, then get up and mosey around in your pajamas for most of the day, until you finally get around to try calling "first link" from 4:45pm until 4:50pm just isn't going to cut it.  Try getting up at 5am or 6am and acting like a normal human being who has an ounce of dignity and wants to succeed.

That was a freebie, crooked tale primitive.  The next one's going to cost you in some way or another.

Now, I'm just guessing, but if crooked tale has access to DU, he probably has access to this, also...

A Hot Meal Is Closer Than You Think
Call: 2-1-1 or (614) 341-2282

Need a hot meal? Hundreds of options exist. FOODLINK can provide callers with the locations of food pantries and soup kitchens throughout Franklin County where they can go to get a hot meal or as much as a three-day supply of food. FIRSTLINK assesses callers individual needs, including distance from pantry, time of day and any special dietary needs, to determine the best location for each caller.

They also offer an online login.

Oh, and no food bank has any mention of requiring FirstLink...all sites even have driving instuctions or maps on them.

But he can't ever get a hold of anyone.
 ::) ::)

I will admit, that research took something like 10 minutes...probably more time than he has to spare.  ::)

Yep, it's all *. He's blocked every single good thing that the dem controlled congress has tried to do. He's the reason no one has gotten a unicorn yet.

In my mom's small town since the dems took control of congress 2 car dealerships have closed, 1 car dealership has lost one of their brands, 2 restaurants from national chains have closed, 1 local restaurant has closed, 1 textile plat has closed, 1 manufacturing plant has closed, 2 long time clothing stores have closed, and 1 long time florist has closed. I'm sure that * is the reason that the dem controlled congress couldn't prevent all of that.

Maybe when O takes office everyone can finally get their unicorns. Of course at the rate things are going the folks in my mom's small town may have to eat their unicorns.

Yeah, well, they don't offer curb service.
