... inspired by another thread. :-)
What are the best french fries from a fast food place?
My vote has to go to Steak n' Shake (http://www.steaknshake.com/default-home.asp) for sure. Red Robin is pretty damn good french fry wise but I don't know if they are national or not.
FWIW- there are too many places for a poll. Just give a shout out to your favs... :-)
-
I recently discovered Red Robin. I agree, their fries are really good.
-
Thirded for Red Robin
-
My family and I like the fries at the 5 Guys Burgers and Fries joint just around the corner from our house.
I noticed, while back in Atlanta not too long ago, that a Red Robin had opened up recently. I'll have to go there when I'm back home for New Years. :)

Steak 'n Shake has the absolutely, nastiest, rottenest french fries I have ever eaten. I worked at a place in NC that served the same bunch of hard-as-a-rock, crunchy-assed, stale fries. They switched them to regular, people-food french fries and their sales doubled within a month. People were so happy not to have to eat those crappy, nasty things that they were ordering the fries by themselves. Just a plate of your new fabulous, wonderfully tasty french fries, please. Yes. Thank you.
Bojangles gets my vote, if you can find one (go to North Carolina). They use Lawry's seasoning salt on them. Mmmm, arteriosclerosis.
I'll give you a Hi-5 just for admitting you like them. They do make the best milkshakes. :-)

Definetly 5 Guys

A continuation of the theme...
Favorite Red Robin Burger?
**Blue Ribbon Burger**
-
Wendys!
Just the right balance of cruchy to chewey and the texture is good.

Definetly 5 Guys
I'm going to have to try this place next time I'm down near Atlanta. :yum:
-
A&W...and get the cheese with them.
-

Wendy's is third or fourth on my list of tasty fries, as long as you don't go there around 1am when they're serving leftovers from midnight. :(

Yes, you definitely need to try it. ;) I need to get my butt back up to Atlanta soon, but not for another month. :(
-
I clearly have more fries to try. :rotf:
In defense of Steak n' Shake, they have fries you have to eat with a fork. And fwiw- dipping those fries in a chocolate shake is even better than ketchup.
mmmm chocolate shake fries. :-)
Red Robin french fries are always hot and they are also, unending. You can order them early and often for no extra dough. $$$ Yeah fries!!
-

WTF? :puke:
-
I vote for our local DQ. They are so good I sometimes order fries only.
Of course, individual DQs are always a gamble. Some are great and some are pitiful.
-
Actually i just remembered the Boardwalk fries from the mall.
To. Die. For.
-
I'd like to help, but I have never been to Red Robin (hmmmm).

Your loss...amazing.
-
I have no idea what you're talking about. And I'm tempted to move your thread.
Backyard Burger's bacon cheeseburger is the best.
-
Your loss...amazing.
Not really. Red Robin has never been in my area, and whenever I travel there are always too many other opportunities to consider.
My home away from home (Shreveport) does seem to have them but I have never seen one there.
-
Blue Ribbon Burger is good.
But three out of five trips I get the crispy chicken burger. (yeah it's not a "burger")
Red Robin has the goods. It's family friendly and also has the full bar so timming is everything.
Good shakes there too. Real shakes made with real ice cream.
-
And fwiw- dipping those fries in a chocolate shake is even better than ketchup.
mmmm chocolate shake fries. :-)
I haven't done that in years! Want some fries with that shake? Hahahahaha.
I'm going to do that tomorrow
(When Mrs RC isn't around) :shucks:
-
I've never tried that.
The closes fast food place to me is Burger Sling. Their Whoppers are barely tolerable, but I get them with extra mayo so I can dip my fries in it.
-

I hear you talking but your words make no sense...RR is the best ever!!!

You are a stranger in a strange land. There are no Round Robins around here.
Would you be interested in a Checker's, maybe?

All love and respect to ACC, "shake fries" are really something. Something good. LOL :p :-) :p

I'd like to help, but I have never been to Red Robin (hmmmm).
I'll come take you there for lunch one day Undies. :-)
-
As long as we're discussing fast food, does anyone still have a Pizza Hut in their neighborhood that stil serves beer?
-
Not really. Red Robin has never been in my area, and whenever I travel there are always too many other opportunities to consider.

It is the special bond you form with the food that really makes the experience perfect.

Maybe when I'm in Shreveport soon, I'll attempt it at the Thunderbird Cafe (a 50's style restaurant) with one of their shakes. You have not tasted a true shake or malt until you try theirs. Their fries are pretty tasty, so I'll give it a try, just to be fair. The idea of it, though, just makes my stomach cringe. :(
The Thunderbird's burgers are their best feature, though. Cheeseburger, fries, chocolate malt. Heart attack, here I come! :p

Get your mind out of the grease trap. :hammer:

Thank you, sweetie. I look forward to it.

There is some sort of doo-wop diner in Raleigh that looks like an over-chromed singlewide. I never stopped there, but if anyone's actually been there, let me know how it was.
-

Is that so much to ask? :p :-*
Shake fries, mmmm

I'll try your shake fries after I have my grits at Cracker Barrel tomorrow.

I use to go to a Thunderbird Cafe in Dallas (Dallas/Mesquite border). It's been gone many many years. Their salad bar was in a carved-out '57 T-Bird.
I really enjoyed their burgers.

Thunderbird looks nothing like that, except for the interior.
However, I have seen something like that off of I-75 in the parking lot of a Tanger outlet mall.

Where? Tanger is my third home. I go to that mexican place in the far east parking lot. Its name escapes me for now. It's some woman's name.

The restaurant I speak of is in the Atlanta area. Just off I-75 at exit 212 in Locust Grove, GA. I'm looking at the directory map right now.
Wait a second, that's not a diner (at least not by MY definition). It's Denny's. :lmao: :rotf: For some reason, they made a Denny's look like what Chris described... overchromed single-wide. For some reason, I always thought it was some family-owned place when I drove by it. Never mind. :thatsright:
-
I recently discovered Red Robin. I agree, their fries are really good.
Is that really fast food though? Ours is a restaurant.
-
Whataburger fries.
And by they way, a Whataburger beats all.
Hands down.
-
The best fast food fries can be obtained at "Burger Time". They're in MN and ND. One has to be careful though because if the store isn't properly run, they can be cold and icky. Whataburger runs a close second. Watson's, a small local chain in N Texas & Southern OK is right up there, too.

Good Lord I can't believe no one said In N' Out yet!
They're mostly on the West coast but as far as fast food burgers, they're the best! :hyper:

In-n-out does have great fries; in my case its been so long since I've had them that I can't rate them. :(
-
Longhorn Steakhouse
Texas Chili Cheese Fries
Gotta have the jalepenos with them :-)
-
And just so's nobody is confused...
The closest Red Robin is the far side of Boston, but the ones I went to when in CA definitely had the killer fries. I should ask someone to send me a jar of the seasoning they have at the tables. There is of course a place here in town (Draught Pick Pub) which has what they call "Irish Nachos", which are criss-cut fries in spicy seasoned salt topped with taco meat, cheese, jalapenos, guac, and sour cream. Yummy.
As far as burgers? At RR, either the Bleu Ribbon or the Royal Red Robin Burger. Then there's In-N-Out, double-double with grilled onions and spread only.
And for back home goodness, Blake's Lotaburger. MUST. GET. GREEN. CHILES.
For greasy gut-bomb goodness, nothing beats Sonic's Supersonic Cheeseburger with an order of Tots and "fry sauce". If you don't live out west, you don't know what you're missing with fry sauce.
And, if you're in the mood for expensive ones, there's always Fuddrucker's.
-
As with burgers, In-N-Out has the best fries.
They take whole potatoes and cut and deep fry 'em as they need them.
-
Moved to the Food Forum.
My Shake'n Bake experiment didn't go so well. I guess you can't DO an entire chicken and not have it fall apart. Oh well... live and learn.
BBQ sammiches for dinner tongiht.
-
I Sonic.
-
Steak n' Shake does an awesome double burger with everything. I like Hardees/Carl Jr's Thickburger but the one around here is in a bad spot and I never manage to go over there for lunch.
-
Another vote for 5 Guys, as far as chains go.
Down the beach, I'lll take my fries from a place called Thrashers (Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Ocean City, MD boardwalk.)
-

In the original thread, mine was the 3rd or 4th post and I said that -- it got lost when they moved the thread.
-
For a chain place, Red Robin hands down. For fast food, Jack In The Box.
-
Ron's Hamburgers "Spanish Fries with chili".
ETA: The best Red Robin is the Santa Fe Burger.
-
I'm on the Red Robin boat here. I'm pretty good with how I eat, but that is one place I can throw it all down the tubes on fries. When we go, I generally order nothign else since I know I'll be sitting there eating my fill of their fries dipped in ranch. Their burgers are the awesome too!
In and Out Burgers also rock--the fresh produce they use is really good--not a fan of their fries. Dairy Queen burgers taste good too and for the price are preferred for fast food joints.

That barely qualifies as a "chain". Watson's might be a small chain, here, but at LEAST it's interstate!!!
-
I vote for Whataburge Crispy, too

Hey it's still a chain, sooo NAH!
