3. It is kind of funny how many are gleefully pointing out the Republicans turning on each other, while here in DU the same thing is happening.
Actually, it is not funny. It's sad.
Actually, it is funny.

15. I am just curious...so don't take this the wrong way. I am not gay, but I have always been pro gay rights.
But if I had to make a list of the Top 100 things this country has to fix, Gay Marriage would not make the top 50.
I am sure that for Gay people, it might be the Number One item. And that is OK with me. But I think the approach the gay community has been taking for years will never win... and apparently has not been winning.
Gay parades hurt your cause more than anything. The "in your face" approach turns most of America away, EVEN if it is the RIGHT thing.
My advice to the gay community is to work from the legal end of gay partnerships.
Work on new laws for health insurance between partners, property rights, etc. Stay away from the term "marriage". It is just a word! It is a losing issue. It's like trying to ban guns.
It is a phrase that is going to take another 100 years for society to come to terms with. "Gay Marriage" is a phrase that is a Republican fund raiser.
You need to work on what the goals are, not the moniker.
How many gay people are there in the United States? What percent of the vote?
How many other good causes go down on election day for minority positions.
When you KNOW you have a minority voting block, how do you WIN an election?
How do you convince non-gay Americans to vote for gay rights? That is how you win. If your position is "becasue it is the right thing to do"... you will continue to lose.
How many Republican ideas are the "right thing to do"...not many! But they still win on many "minority" sopported issues.
Time for the Gay Community to get organized on the issues.
Where is the plan?
If "gay rights' is not in MY "Top 50 issues need fixing", how are you going to change my mind to move it into my Top 10 List?
Oh Hell.
With so much poverty and want and corruption and repression and murder in the world, "gay rights" aren't even on franksolich's Top 10,000.

19. Thank you. I will quietly move to the back of the bus so you may more easily run me over.
Gay Rights SHOULD be in your top 10. If it isn't, then you need to ask yourself WHY ISN't EQUALITY FOR ALL AMERICANS THAT IMPORTANT TO YOU???
I dunno. How are gays less equal under the law than non-gays?

25. huh?
If you move to the back of the bus, then you are just admitting defeat.
Why... tell me why it should be in MY Top 10?
How about equal education for all Americans?
How about equal healthcare for all Americans?
Your issue is low on my priority list... how are you going to move it up the list?
By marching in the steets? What are you going to DO?

51. Well, You're Quite the Jackass.
If it doesn't bother you that a significant portion of this country are legally second-class citizens, you're a tool, and no argument that I can make in favor of my rights - which, by the way, you are an asshole for suggesting I need to defend - is going to sway your stupid ass.
The question is not what am *I* going to do. The question is, what are YOU going to do?
I dunno. How are gays "second-class" citizens when compared with non-gays?
I mean, it's not like blacks were, circa 1630-November 4, 2008, a long history of repression and second-classdom.

76. What's this top 10 crap? Do you actually have a list? One that you've written down?
If you do, you're WEIRD.
If you don't, this whole "list" is a way for you to sneer at gay people and nothing else.
Why should we jump through a bunch of stupid hoops for you? Your type just sets up more hoops. Don't be offended, it's just the truth.
If you really did support gay rights AND had some idea what might be a more appropriate way to go about securing them (if there is one) you'd have posted about that.
But you didn't. So it's pretty obvious that you don't.

75. So, how important is ending homelessness to you?
Hmmm. One thinks the bobbling primitive should direct that question to the sparkling husband primitive, a real-estate mogul in Maryland, or to El Stupido Supremo, who owns two houses in Connecticut when one house is enough.
Other primitives join in the fray, pro and con, a true primitivenfest.

Just damn....victimhood is a tricky thing isn`t it?

Tinkerbelles are very self-centered. If you were to tell them they could have the right to homo marriage in exchange for women losing their right to vote and black men being considered 3/5ths of a person, they'd take it.
.

52/48 is a landslid for Obama but 52/48 is against the rules and must be overturned by advocate judges.
What would happen if hardcore Republicans did the shit that the homos are doing?
The people have spoken for the THIRD TIME.

Of course they'd take it.
In a second, they'd take it.

Man, they are going apeshit over there today, between Prop 8, Hillary for SOS rumors (and backbiting), and of course the GM bailout. On GM in particular, a vocal minority are saying screw GM, though few of them are daring to touch the third rail about the millstone around its neck which the legacy UAW benefits package represents, some are indeed braving the storm to hint at it!
MOST entertaining chaos ensues!
