Title: I just discovered a new Liquid Crack. (Coffee!!!!!!1111)
Post by: asdf2231 on November 09, 2008, 12:24:29 PM
My wife brought home some stuff from England and one of the things she brought me was a one pound bag of coffee from a place called Bettys Café Tea Rooms in Harrogate.

It's Ethiopian Mocha Limu.

I have never heard of it before and we ground some up and ran a pot a little while ago and sampled it.  It makes Jamacan Blue Mountain taste like warm Doctor Pepper.  Seriously the single best coffee I have ever tasted.

It's an "Estate" brand that is grown in the Ethiopian highlands.

I am normally pretty content with the various "Bin" beans that are sold at the grocery stores but every couple of weeks to a month I will go snag a bag of real Kona or Mocha Java to grind up.

I think I have a new favorite though.

So how would it compare to my Folgers Classic Roast?  :evillaugh:

My favorite "treat" coffee is Seattle's Best Cinnabon Coffee. Smells so wonderful.

LOL!

Now I find out the suck part...

It is a specialty blend from Taylors of Harrogate in England and it's not sold by anyone that isn't a distributor.

LOLOL!

You can get the Etheopian Limu beans willy nilly (Which I am going to have to try now after having this) but the Mocha-Limu blend is proprietary.

I told my wife and she burst out laughing and told me that we would dole it out on special occaisions and bite the bullet for reorder when it's gone.

But look at it this way...now you have an excuse to go to England!

I have a perfume that I bought in Hawaii. When my sister and husband took a honeymoon there, they brough me back some more. When it runs out, I must go back. :)

$22 plus shipping for a one pound bag of whole beans isn't too bad if it is as good as you say.

Dude.
Bite the bullet and get yourself a coffee roaster and do it yourself.

http://sweetmarias.com/coffee.africa.ethiopia.html#Ethiopia_DP_Limmu

20 lbs green beans - $88.

http://sweetmarias.com/prod.greencoffee.mvc.shtml

Getting the Limu region beans is no problem.

Getting the Mocha-Limu blend that I am currently geeking over IS, lol.

Unless I want to try roasting and blending Mocha and Limu myself till i get it right.

Never considered roasting my own green beans before though.

This link bought me all the way through their checkout process, depending on how much of last months bonus money Mrs RC spent today I'll order a bag and tell you how it was.

Let me know what you pay for shipping.

That is what kills me when I order things from the UK.

I read about that coffee.  It gets pissed on by llamas.  That's what gives it its "kick".

I just bought Seattle's Best recently. OMG--yummy coffee! I really like it! I'll have to give that flavor a try.

My friends that are having me adopt their bassett are Kanuckians; they're also giving me 3 pounds of jen-u-wyn Cuban coffee.

I love these people.

Did you know...

The world's largest coffee pot is located in Davidson, Saskatchewan. It measures 24 Feet(7.3 Meters) tall, is made of sheet metal and could hold 150,000 8 ounce cups of coffee.

This is precisely why we need a standing army on the Canadian border!!

Can you imagine if the giant Canadians that use that coffee pot ever decided to head south on a whim to ravage our cities?!
