Pelosi lectures Obama: 'You must govern from the middle!'

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday called on President-elect Barack Obama to govern from the middle, as her party sat poised to gain its widest House majority in 15 years.

According to projections, Democrats in the House were on track Wednesday to increase their majority by at least 18 seats, a margin that would give Obama a formidable tool to push his legislative agenda after his January 20 inauguration.

Democrats took at least 22 seats from Republicans in Tuesday's election, with the GOP taking four seats from the Democrats, according to CNN projections.

With winners yet to be called for eight of the House's 435 seats, Democrats were projected to win 254 seats, with Republicans having 173.

"I don't know what the final number will be," Pelosi said during a Wednesday afternoon news conference on Capitol Hill. "But it will be well over 250. It's a signal of the change that the American people want."

Pelosi, D-California, said she hoped Obama would "bring people together to reach consensus" on issues that concern Americans. "A new president must govern from the middle," she said.

Nancy, did you see the electoral vote count from last night?

**** this "middle" shit. **** it with a chainsaw.

This was a DEMOCRATIC victory because the REPUBLICAN (i.e. "centrist") policies have ******* DESTROYED THE COUNTRY.

Now act like a Democrat, or get the **** out of the way.

That's what we elected him to do. Doesn't have to be far left, but it damned well better be identifiably left to those of us on the left (as opposed to the knuckledraggers on the right).

Wow. I was just saying in another thread that my liberal friends in AZ are more unhappy with the defeat of the marriage amendments than they are happy with the election of Obama. They really do work hard at finding things to be angry about. There's some serious dedication there.

On the DUmpster thread I posted yesterday they were enraged about the California result at DU, one even threatened to move to Canada because of it.  :lmao:

You know, I expected some mild harrassment at work today from those I know were supporting Obama...but there was not one word.  In fact, the most vocal were extremely silent.   :???:  There was actually a feeling of gloom, I was quite thankful to spend most of the day working in another area.  But I just don't get it...unless they're already having buyer's remorse?  Finally thought about the consequences of voting in an inexperienced unknown rather than a man that knew the job?  :???:

Maybe they heard the same NPR show I heard, they were already forgiving him for not fulfilling any of his campaign promises...and for "having" to raise taxes.   :thatsright:

And here marks the difference between Us & Them - (and it is Us & Them - there is no middle ground with the DUmmies) We just took a defeat, bitched about it, and are looking to the future. They are bitching about their win.

They no longer have the Bush Boogeyman to blame. ANYTHING that goes wrong is their problem - and if the problem they generate is big enough, it will result in the next Reagan. Clinton came in during a good time economically, and the Republican Revolution helped control spending. IMO, Clinton's biggest mistake was balancing the books by cutting military budgets. Thats what they wanted. What they got instead was Carter, and they know it.

I think they were hoping for a McCain upset, so they could spend the next four attacking him, and then once the war and economic issues are sorted out, reap the rewards. Too bad DUmmies. You now have the WoT, Immigration, and the market issues to 'fix' - and your avatar better have a good handle on all of these things in the first 100 days. Thats. All. You. Get.

Oh, I almost forgot - Obamarx better deliver all those bonuses he promised as well.

You know, I'm starting to get angry myself.

The Big Zero promised us redistribution of the wealth.

El Stupido Supremo has two houses in Connecticut.

franksolich has no real-estate anywhere.

If the Big Zero were serious about this redistribution of the wealth, it seems to me I would have the title and deed to El Stupido Supremo's second house by now, giving each of us one house each, which is what the Big Zero promised.

I'm starting to get impatient.

Well you just gave him 100 days that I won't.  He presented himself as though he were deity, and deity doesn't need 100 days to get a handle.  It's either immediate and flawless or forget it.

Poor Barry's going to have to stop blaming George Bush for all the world's problems now and get to work.

Id give him his 100 - Its only fair. Even though I know I could give him a thousand and he would still be unable to accomplish his goals.

The Irony is the folks who wont give him his hundred are the liberals - they wiull turn on him once the Obribes don't show up and/or in the amount expected. Even inhis acceptance speech he suggested that he wont be able to finish in one term.

And we all know how well Barack Obama takes criticism.  Not well at all.  He's going to have to grow a pair, or at least get his back from Mrs. Obama - quickly!

I heard Bob Beckel say yesterday, on Fox & Friends, that the press will give him a year.

Then, it's open season.

Wow, I predicted this would happen and it will just get worse. And yeah, the euphoria has died since Prop 8 in California passed and they are feeling worse than better. You would think an Obama win would make them happy, but Prop 8 trumps over Obama's win. It just made my day even better.  :evillaugh:

Then, it's open season.

No way in Hell they'll wait that long.  With Dems holding all the elective branches, giving him a pass would mean the news organizations might as well shut down by the first week in February.
