It's going to be a very bad four years.
Those court nominations will screw up the country for the next 2 decades.
Welcome to the European Socialist Union folks.

They better be careful what they are saying and wishing for. I think there will be more infighting that will cause a huge rift at DU when Obama is President.

Fukkit.
I'm going to bed.

Well on the bright side the only two that look like they are going to leave in the next 4 years are libs so maybe if the Conservatives on the bench can hold out for a TRUE conservative in 2012 we might be ok.

my nightly prayers will be for the continued health and well-being of the justices of the supreme court... last thing we need is for scalia or thomas to have a massive stroke

We'll just do to their candidates what they did to ours.

The next two justices to retire are Buzzy Ginsberg - who has health problems, and John Paul Stevens, who is 88 years old. After that, the one who worries me the most is Anthony Kennedy, who at least deigns to cunsult the Constitution for the basis of his opinions once in a great while. But I think Breyer is also dealing with health issues, and may be #3 out the door.
Obama can replace the first two, or Breyer, with former domestic terrorists who've served on Chicago boards with him, and it doesn't change the balance of power in the SCOTUS. All it does is push back how long we have to continue to be stalwart and vigilent, especially if he appoints especially young SCOTUS nominees. But then, we should already be topped up on our ETERNAL VIGILENCE after last night's cluster****, right ladies?
Like I said, it's Kennedy that scares me at the moment.
