the dems missed 60 by at least one vote, maybe two, depending on what happens in minnesota with franken and coleman.

As it stands right now, the democrats have 56 seats, the republicans have 40 , with four seats still in play.

CNN us calling the seat in GA still in play; and it has narrowed somewhat, but the margin is 230,000 with 96% in (including atlanta). chambliss needs 50% to avoid a run off.

Sen. Saxby Chambliss leads the Senate race in Georgia.
But with hundreds of thousands of early voting ballots - some cast weeks before Election Day - still being counted in key counties, it wasn't clear early this morning whether he'd escaped a runoff. To avoid a runoff, Chambliss needs more than 50 percent of the vote. With 95 percent of the precincts counted statewide, vote tallies give Chambliss 51 percent. Democrat Jim Martin was pulling 45 percent. Libertarian Allen Buckley had less than 4 percent.
State elections officials said early voting from Fulton and Gwinnett counties had yet to be counted. Early voting numbers in those two counties alone totaled more than 275,000 votes.

Well, given that my home county of Gwinnett generally leans comfortably to the right, there may be enough votes there (including my own ;) ) to keep him safe.
Fulton, on the other hand, could be a problem.

exactly. that's one red and one blue county, and those are just the ones mentioned in the story. the early votes in general don't seem to be completely counted yet. he just dropped to 50.9% according to the georgia SofS website -- 30,000 votes from dropping below 50%.

Let's face it -- the USA has no interest in working for a living nor do they care about our defense. We are children and our enemies wil kick us right in our unprotected balls.

and franken is tied at 42% with coleman in minnesota. slightly over 12,000 votes in coleman's favor with 83% reporting

minnesota is razor thin for coleman, but is probably headed for a mandatory recount. chambliss has fallen below 50%, and is probably headed for a runoff. stevens may actually win alaska, and the incumbent republican is hanging surprisingly tough in oregon.

A run-off would given an indication of the strength of "buyer's remorse" regarding the Big Zero; if it's there, or if it's not there.
I believe this happened one other time in Georgia, in 1992, I think, and it portended all was not well with the recent victory of the Impeached One.
Otherwise, we have to wait for the off-year elections of 2009, of which there's quite a few as compared with 2007.

I'm not sure how much buyer's remorse you can accumulate between now and december 2. the 3rd party candidate was a libertarian, for what that's worth. I would imagine that both parties will pull out all the stops for the runoff.
