not a surprise, but this is a dem pickup in the senate
Ex-Virginia Gov. Warner wins U.S. Senate seat
Former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner has defeated another former governor, Jim Gilmore, according to the Associated Press.
Warner’s victory had appeared all but certain for months, with Gilmore trailing by as much as 30 percentage points in some opinion polls and unable to raise money for more than a handful of television ads. While Warner collected nearly $13 million for the campaign, Gilmore could manage only $2.6 million.
The origins of Tuesday’s outcome, and its dimensions, can be traced to each man’s term as governor.
Gilmore, governor from 1998-2002, left office with the state’s economy slumping and the government in Richmond facing a budget crunch. The final year of his term was marked by a bitter feud with the Republican-controlled General Assembly over his insistence on repealing the state tax on automobiles.

Mark Warner is such a fraud. I cannot for the life of me understand why people like him.
He forced the biggest tax increase in commonwealth history down our throats because of 'the budget crisis'. He concealed revenue projections to do it and we wound up with a surplus of almost exactly what they raised taxes by.
Freakin amazing but at least he's not into writing homosexual kiddie porn books like our other senator.
My state has become such a hole....

Yeah I'm not surprised. Northern VA is probably what put him over the edge. *eyeroll* Too bad that we can't just partition off this area into it's own little moonbat state. First I have to move though :-)

both senators and the governor are all dems now. and think about the budget crisis and what happened in VA, and what could happen nationwide with our current "financial crisis".

Whats funny is that our lunatic governor Timmy Kaine isn't even talking tax increase for his budget problems, its all cuts (except for his 'signature' free daycare measure.
